Program Description Rome, the eternal city, provides an unparalleled vista from which to explore contemporary literature, creative non-fiction writing, and the examination of human behavior. Studying English & Social Psychology in Rome will stimulate your intellect as your imagination comes alive and truly soars. During the semester, you will take multi-day side trips to Florence and the Amalfi Coast, from where you are welcome to catch a short ferry ride to visit the island of Capri. As the saying goes, when in Rome, do as the Romans do. In Social Psychology, you will use the setting of Rome and the work of Italian novelist Elena Ferrante to explore and make sense of human behavior by examining some of Italy's richest and most enduring cultural traditions. You will explore these customs on the cobblestone streets of Rome against a backdrop of more than two thousand years of art and architecture. Through creative non-fiction writing, you will write about the real-life people and places encountered with the goal of producing publishable work, while the study of contemporary literature will expose modern concerns about the human condition rooted in the histories and places in which you're living and visiting. The program is academic in nature, but it also provides you with the opportunity to forge new friendships, and experience the tremendous personal growth that comes with travel. Become acquainted with the vibrant culture and history of Italy!
