The September 11 opening-night festivities begin with the presentation “Unraveling Quilts: Roots and Wings” by Teresa Hollingsworth and Dr. Kristin Congdon, from 6–7 p.m. in the Jenkins Gallery. FIBER ARTS

During this fall season, Crealdé School of Art is excited to launch a new and expanded Fiber Arts program. This is in response to national trends and a dramatically increased interest in this medium in Central Florida. At the same time – and as part of our special 40th Anniversary Season – Crealdé is also proud to host the nationally traveling exhibition The Sum of Many Part: Quiltmakers in Contemporary America. This exhibition was originally curated by South Arts in Atlanta for the U.S. State Department, as a cultural exchange tour to four major art museums in China. It is now traveling the United States, and Winter Park will be its only Florida stop.

This medium will show cracks when applied in thick layers and will make your artwork unique. No acrylics or oils needed to create a one-of-a-kind mixed media piece. Bring stamps or templates to press detailed prints into the surface. Includes all materials except a 24 x 24 inch canvas. She doesn’t just want to be a painter, a sculptor, or a mixed media artist, she wants to do it all, and is looking forward to sharing her enthusiasm about these techniques with beginner and advanced artists alike.

Larry Moore majored in Graphic Design with an emphasis on drawing and art history, but there were no painting requirements. He learned to paint on his own and in the 1980s he began plein-air painting while working as a commercial artist. Having mastered many mediums, he began teaching in 1990. His goal is to give to others the things he spent a lifetime learning and is still learning. As an artist, his directive is to grow and expand out and up, with his purpose as an instructor to help you do the same.
