Crealdé School of Art is a community-based nonprofit organization established in 1975. We feature an affordable, sequential curriculum of more than 125 studio courses and workshops taught by professional artist instructors in Painting & Drawing, Photography, Ceramics, Sculpture, Fiber Arts, Glass and Jewelry for adults and children, with hands-on experience emphasized. There are five 8-week sessions per year, plus Summer ArtCamp and Young Adult Immersion.
In addition, Crealdé offers an award-winning scholarship and outreach program to diverse communities in Central Florida.
Two galleries on the main campus present a changing variety of multidisciplinary visual art exhibitions by regional, national and international artists.
The Contemporary Sculpture Garden overlooking Lake Sterling features more than 60 pieces of original art.

Hannibal Square Heritage Center, Crealdé’s second campus, represents a partnership with the City of Winter Park, and pays tribute to the past, present and future contributions of Winter Park’s African American community through an award-winning permanent collection of historic photographs and oral histories. Established by Crealdé in 2007, the center also features visiting visual art exhibitions and educational programs that explore Southern folklore and cultural preservation.

Hannibal Square Heritage Center Visiting Exhibition Gallery
The Hannibal Square Story Quilters are a creative arts group, formed by Lauren Austin. Austin’s work is nationally and internationally exhibited, and she is an active participant in the Central Florida fiber arts community.
The Story Quilters, who have been sewing together for over four years, will curate the exhibition, as each quilter has her unique story to tell. Themes include artist reflections on the Black experience, spirituality, justice, femininity, family and nature. Artists will reflect on their works in celebration of Black History Month.

Over the past two decades, sculptor and Crealdé member Cheryl Bogdanowitsch has sponsored a $1,000 annual adult sculpture scholarship for emerging artists to study with David Cumbie, Crealdé’s Sculpture Program and Studio Manager and Curator of the Contemporary Sculpture Garden. Recipients return to Crealdé in an exhibition that follows their growth, showing their current works in different media. An exhibition of Cheryl Bogdanowitsch’s sculptures will also be shown, curated by David Cumbie and Barbara Tiffany.
21st Unity Heritage Festival in Hannibal Square & Open House
Sunday & Monday, January 15 & 16, 2023
This annual City of Winter Park festival celebrates the life of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and promotes community and family heritage. The festival takes place in Shady Park across from the Hannibal Square Heritage Center in Winter Park. Sunday entertainment features music by local gospel bands and Monday includes a special program honoring Dr. King with ongoing musical artists. Special activities include children’s games, career booths, as well as retail and local food vendors. The Hannibal Square Heritage Center offers extended hours during the festival for visitors to learn about the history of Hannibal Square and the permanent and visiting exhibitions.

Hannibal Square Heritage Center Visiting Exhibition Gallery
In commemoration of the 100-year anniversary of the Rosewood Massacre, the Patricia & Phillip Frost Art Museum in Miami will present An Elegy to Rosewood in early 2023. The Hannibal Square Heritage Center will be the first stop on its state-wide traveling exhibition. Through historic and modern photographs, digital materials, and memorials honoring the massacre, this remarkable exhibition will be presented through the lens of women, who were critical in preserving Rosewood’s history, as well as the contemporary lens of female-identifying artists based in Miami.
14th Annual Hannibal Square Heritage Center Folk & Urban Art Festival
Saturday, April 22, 2023 | 10am–4pm
The festival celebrates Central Florida’s richly diverse culture through artwork, educational entertainment and music, featuring the works of more than 25 folk and urban artisans. A soul food truck offers delicious refreshments and ethnic food. Admission is free.
For a private, one-on-one learning experience, consider these opportunities to study with a Crealdé professional artist/instructor. Create a schedule and learning curriculum that fits your needs and availability. Topics can range from the basics of a particular art medium, exploring a specific new technique, brushing up on an old skill, all the way to portfolio development.
Cost: $300 for five hours of private instruction in Crealdé’s professional art studios, including a 30-minute initial phone consultation and three 1.5-hour class sessions. Materials not included.

Refund/Withdrawal Policies
In order to maintain the quality of our programs, we require minimum number of enrolled students. Therefore, the following policies are in place for refunds, transfers, and withdrawals.
CLASSES: A transfer, withdrawal, credit, or refund must be requested 7 days prior to the first day of the session by contacting the main office at 407-671 1886 during business hours or email registration@crealde.org. Requests made less than 7 days before the first day of the session are not eligible. Class credits expire after one year. These policies apply regardless of attendance status.

Have you ever said, “Someday I’ll write a story or a book?” Someday is today! Award-winning instructor Elaine Person will guide you toward achieving your writing goals. Open to people of all writing levels as your writing is unique to you. We write together and share by reading our assignments to each other to make your writing stronger. Listening to others helps us improve our writing too. With the use of prompts such as paintings, photographs, quotations, items, and more you will tap into your own creativity. Each week, we will write together and have positive critique. See your stories unfold. We will discuss a variety of literary techniques used to strengthen our stories. Learn the fundamental process for traditional blacksmithing, Students will use the hammer to forge hot steel on the anvil and learn how to make door handles, hooks, and ornamental scrolls.

Create wax sculptures that will be cast in bronze. Students learn how to prepare the wax form for casting, and the ceramic shell mold-making process. David uses the latest mold-making materials available and students witness a bronze pour at the end of the class. Work with found objects creating multi-media 3D forms. Gluing, riveting, bolting, mold making, and casting will be used to connect dissimilar materials. Students will be asked to bring in some materials and some materials will be supplied.

An introduction to a variety of techniques in the creation of wax sculptures. Once the wax sculptures are made, students prepare their own waxes with gates and sprues in preparation for the ceramic mold-making process. Waxes are coated with state of the art ceramic shell and then the wax will be burned out and the molten bronze poured into the molds. Cost includes a five pound bronze sculpture, with the option to purchase additional material for large works.
