I am powered by the Holy Spirit

Whoever does not take up their cross and follow me is not worthy of me.

Matthew 10:38

A cross used to be where people died. Back in the day, the Romans used the cross to execute people. Sometimes it went fast and other times it took a long time, but no one could survive hanging on a cross.

In this Bible verse from Matt. 10:38, Jesus asks us to take our mistakes, sinful thoughts, and bad habits and hang them on the cross so they can die. As a follower of Jesus, you need to do this daily, because you will be tempted to do wrong things every day.

In John 21:15-19 Jesus asked Peter three times if he loved Him, the same number of times Peter had denied knowing Jesus. Jesus was counting on

Peter to build His church, so Jesus wanted to make sure Peter would not only believe and love Him, but also follow Him again.

Peter needed to hang his own sins and failures on the cross and recommit to follow Jesus.

Is there something you need to nail to the cross so you can be free to follow Jesus? What will you nail to the cross?

Write a prayer where you ask God to help you remove these things from your life: Dear God, _____________________ _________________________ _________________________ _________________________ _________________________ ___________________
