A bright star lit up the sky. Some wise men saw the star, from far away.
The wise men knew just what the star meant: that a King had been born. They packed up their camels. Then they headed toward the star, to look for Jesus.
Mary’s belly had gotten big and round. It was almost time for Jesus to be born. It was almost time for God’s own Son, to come into the world.
Joseph and Mary headed to the city. Their donkey bumped along, as Mary rode on top. Joseph walked alongside, to lead the way.

God loved the world so much that he gave the most precious thing he had. This is the story about that gift.
1
In the land of Galilee, there was a tiny town called Nazareth. Mary was excited. She was about to marry Joseph. Joseph and Mary loved each other, and they both loved God too.
2
Mary was getting ready for her wedding when she had a visitor, a visitor sent from God Himself. “Greetings,” said the angel. Mary looked up, in surprise. “Don’t be afraid,” the angel said. “God is with you.”
3
The angel’s name was Gabriel. God had sent Gabriel to bring Mary some special news. She was going to have a baby who would save the world. Gabriel said his name would be Jesus.
4
There was more to the news. “Your baby,” said Gabriel, “will be God’s own Son.” Mary smiled. “May it happen just like you say,” said Mary. She was God’s servant, and whatever God asked, she would do.
5
Mary felt full of joy - so much that she could not keep it all inside. Mary ran all the way to her cousin’s house to tell Elizabeth the happy news.
6
Mary’s belly had gotten big and round. It was almost time for Jesus to be born. It was almost time for God’s own Son to come into the world.
7
Joseph and Mary headed to the town. Their donkey bumped along as Mary rode on top. Joseph walked alongside to lead the way.
8
The town of Bethlehem was full of people. Soon it would be getting dark. Joseph and Mary needed a place to stay and soon. “No room left,” said one innkeeper. “All full,” said the next. What were Joseph and Mary going to do?
9
The innkeeper could see they had a baby on the way. Did Joseph and Mary mind to be with animals? The innkeeper said they could sleep out back in the stable.
10
Every hotel was full. The only room in town was where the animals slept, so Joseph and Mary made themselves at home in the stable.
11
That night a baby was born. Joseph and Mary looked at him with love. They wrapped Jesus up in cloth. Then they laid him on a bed of hay. The angels of Heaven sang out with joy. This was the night that God’s Son had come into the world.
12
Some shepherds were watching their sheep nearby. All of a sudden, a bright light flashed. And there in front of them stood an angel.
13
“I bring good news,” said the angel. “A savior has been born. He is Jesus, the Son of God. And you will find him on a bed of hay.”
14
The shepherds hurried to the stable. There they found baby Jesus just as the angel had said, sleeping on a bed of hay and wrapped in cloth. This was the Son of God. This was the most precious gift that God could give.
15
The shepherds were full of gladness. They gave God thanks. Then they went to tell the good news near and far.
