TEEN SUPPLIES CART

Did you know that Teen Place has a cart full of supplies for you to use?

The Teen Supplies Cart is located in the back of Teen Place near the MakerTable and drinking fountain. The supplies can be used for schoolwork, projects, crafts or relaxation, and you do not need to ask us if you can use them (but please let us know if something has run out!).

Most of the supplies on this cart are for teens to borrow and return (these items will be labeled), however, there are some items for which you may take-to-keep.

Here is what you can find within the cart:

• Markers, colored pencils and crayons

• Paper (blank, lined and grid), poster board and construction paper

• Coloring/activity pages

• Tape (scotch and duct), stapler, scissors and hole punches

• Pens, pencils, highlighters and erasers

• Notecards and post-its

• Sensory and fidget items

• Menstrual products

• Clear page protectors

Our supplies cart is also home to the monthly take-and-make craft, as well as some community flyers, so be sure to stop by and check out what is available!

IT OUT

GET TO KNOW YOUR TEEN STAFF

What are some hobbies/ activities you enjoy outside of work?

I’m sure no one will be surprised when I say that my main hobby is reading... However, I also enjoy watching movies, playing with my dog, crocheting and playing cozy video games.

How long have you been working at the Schaumburg Library?

I have worked at the Schaumburg Library in the Teen Department for the past 5 years.

What is your favorite material to recommend?

Since I love recommending ALL THE THINGS, I had a hard time answering this question, but I narrowed it down to three titles:

The Sunbearer Trials by Aiden Thomas

A fun LGBTQ+ fantasy that I describe as Percy Jackson meets The Hunger Games.

Danger and Other Unknown Risks by Ryan North and Erica Henderson

A unique fantasy graphic novel featuring an adorable fluffy dog.

Agent Most Wanted by Sonia Purnell

Before reading this, I had never heard of Virginia Hall, a WWII spy that helped the allies win the war.

What is a unique fact about yourself?

I used to play the viola! So, if you are ever in Teen Place and hear orchestra music playing, I probably picked out the music for the day!

What is a service within the Library that you want more teens to know about?

TEEN LIBRARY BOXES! I could chat about these all day. If you are a big reader and want a personalized reading recommendation every month along with some freebies (candy, bookmarks, pens, etc.) to keep, get yourself signed up for our TEEN BOOK BOXES! You can register at schaumburglibrary.org/library-boxes.

Read next month’s newsletter to meet another member of the Schaumburg Library Teen Staff!
