Baseball

Whether just beginning or already a superstar, the All-Star Sports Instruction staff will enhance children’s play. Flag Football

Enjoy a week of action-packed football in a fun and safe environment. Beginners and little pros are welcome. This is a great chance to learn the game without pads and helmets. No tackling is allowed! This fun-filled camp teaches little superstars the importance of teamwork and sportsmanship while attempting to spark an interest to play a variety of sports. Ashley Berggren Hoop Camp

Ashley Berggren Hoop Camp provides girls an opportunity to learn the fundamentals of basketball in a fun-filled atmosphere. Camp emphasizes skill development, teamwork and positive sportsmanship. Campers will participate in structured mini-clinics throughout the day highlighting skill development in ball handling, defense and offensive moves. Chicago Red Stars Girls Soccer Camps Open to girls of all skill levels. Red Stars camps provide a fun and educational environment to learn new skills and mature as players. Led by the Chicago Red Stars players and camps organization, Red Stars camps have the distinct advantage of a female staff which allows athletes to address specific areas of improvement and experience camp at a pace that is representative of the women’s game. Challenger Sports British Soccer Camps

These camps provide technical and tactical instruction in all areas including goal keeping. Pickleball/Badminton Camps This mini-tennis game is a combination of ping pong, tennis and badminton. This competitive game for experienced players uses wood and graphite paddles and unique plastic balls. It is easy to learn, provides plenty of exercise and played on a badminton court. Professional Soccer Academy

Learn the ins and outs of soccer from Professional Soccer Academy instructors, former professional soccer players and college athletes. All facets of soccer including dribbling, passing, receiving, shooting and defense are worked on throughout the week. Campers receive a T-shirt, water bottle and soccer bag. The last day of camp is spent at the Fun Zone at Soccer City Indoor Arenas. Each camper experiences an inflatable obstacle course, 20-foot slide and the Jumper. Activities include Soccer Olympics and a water fight (weather permitting). Bring a soccer ball, shin guards and water jug.

Golf is a challenging and lifelong sport, so young athletes need proper focus on the fundamentals of form, swinging, putting and body positioning. To assist in this training, Skyhawks has adopted the SNAG (Starting New At Golf) system to its curriculum. SNAG utilizes a set of equipment designed for beginning golfers including oversized plastic club heads and ‘mini tennis balls’ to help build confidence and have fun. Developed by PGA professionals, SNAG is specifically designed for the entry-level player. All equipment is provided. All participants receive a T-shirt and a merit award.

Schaumburg Saxon Football Camp

Camp focuses on football fundamentals in a non-contact format. Emphasizing individual skills and the mechanics of team play, participants are exposed to the system utilized by the Schaumburg High School football program. Daily activities include competitive team situations and skill development. Campers are grouped by age. For more information, call Mark Stilling at 847/476-2786. Schaumburg Saxon Lacrosse Camp

Learn fundamental techniques and skills necessary to be a successful lacrosse player. Basic skills will be emphasized and range from ground balls, passing and throwing to stick skills, one-on-one skills and team format. Campers must bring a stick and gloves. Skyhawks Flag Football Camp

Skyhawks Skateboarding Camp

Beginners receive basic skateboarding instruction with an emphasis on balance, pushing the board, kick-turns, maneuvering and manual. Intermediates learn maneuvers including ollies, shuv-its, kick-flips, board-slides and grinds on flatland, transitions, ramps and rails. A liability form must be signed by a parent before participation. Camp is directed by instructors from Skyhawks Sports Academy. Campers receive a T-shirt and merit award. Skyhawks Track & Field Camp

Using special equipment, Skyhawks staff teaches the standard track and field events including long distance, sprints, soft hurdles, relays, shot put, discus and standing long-jump. The exercises and drills prepare athletes for cross country, track and field, and distance running. Body positioning, stride, proper stretching and cool-down techniques are covered. Participants will put it all together for one fun-filled day at the end-of-week track meet. Skyhawks T-Ball League Skyhawks T-Ball is designed for young athletes to discover the excitement of competition while learning the basics of baseball. The first week of the program will consist of two training sessions to introduce the participants to the program. During this time, the coaching staff will be evaluating the participants so that teams may be created equally. The participants will be separated into teams for the first team practice and given a Skyhawks T-shirt to use as their uniforms. Volleyball Camps

These volleyball camps are instructed by Jane Addams Jr. High coaches Dan Hallman, Stacy Molenda and Lisa Heidler. Basic to advanced skills are taught based on ability. No prior volleyball experience is needed. Kneepads and gym shoes are required. Camps are for incoming seventh and eighth graders. Sports Camps “Inside Out�

Enjoy these sports jamborees inside the friendly, climate-controlled confines of the Sport Center. Campers will learn and play basketball, volleyball, soccer and baseball. Each camper must bring a brown bag lunch each day.

Chicago White Sox Baseball Summer Camps

The beginner camp is open to boys and girls ages 5 and 6 and is designed as an introduction to baseball. The intermediate camp for ages 7 and 8 includes fundamental skills work on throwing, hitting, bunting, fielding, pitching and base-running. Fundamentals will be reinforced by playing fun skill games. The White Sox camp for ages 9-12 builds upon the basics to advance your game to the next level. Depending on the skill level of the players, this camp will touch on advanced hitting and throwing techniques, team play, advanced base running and other techniques that may be used on the field. Players will get the opportunity to judge their improvement by playing a game on the final day. Student to instructor ratio will be 10:1 or less. Chicago Bulls/White Sox Summer Combo Camp

The Chicago Bulls/White Sox Training Academy coaches will give each player an opportunity to receive baseball and basketball instruction taught to the pros. A low student/instructor ratio guarantees personal attention. Open to boys and girls. Campers receive a ball, bag and T-shirt. The combo camp includes baseball instruction from 9AM-noon, one-hour lunch break and basketball training from 1-4PM. Combo campers must bring a lunch. Lights, Camera, Action: Movie Camps

Computer Explorers classes are project-based, hands-on and designed to make learning fun! These classes build confidence with technology and improve children’s ability to think critically and problem solve. As directors and producers, children will work in teams to create a story and script, create background scenes and film a movie using toys. Campers will use graphic editing techniques and stop motion animation, add background noise and music, and show the movie at a private screening on the last day of class. All students receive a copy of the movie after class is complete. The final movie will be posted on the Computer Explorer’s YouTube channel to be viewed by friends and family. CRC

Lego® Camp Extravaganza

This extended Lego® camp will be a week full of imagining, building and problem solving fun! Activities will be guided by the child’s imagination. Children will have an opportunity to work independently and cooperatively on projects. The class highlight will be a visit to Legoland® on the last day!

Safety Town

Co-sponsored by Schaumburg Park District and the Schaumburg Police Department, this program is designed to develop an awareness of safety in 4 to 6-year-olds. Children practice and experience ‘real life’ situations and learn how to react under the guidance of experienced instructors. Parents are invited to attend Graduation Day on the second Friday. Computer Game Design Camp

Specially designed software is used so campers can easily create multimedia computer games and animations. Developing a script or program is done by simply snapping together graphical program blocks much like LEGO® bricks or puzzle pieces. Fossil Frenzy is perfect for those who attended Rock Hounds last summer, but you didn’t have to do that to enjoy this camp!

Historian’s Apprentice

♦ Experience what it meant to be a teenager over 130 years ago! Dress in historic clothing, cook on the wood burning stove, learn animal care and show off new life skills to the public. Historic snacks and treats provided. It is recommended that participants have taken previous camps at Heritage Farm or are familiar with the site. Junior Leader Program for 13 to 15-Year-olds (Must meet age requirement by Sept. 1, 2013) Schaumburg Park District is seeking enthusiastic 13 to 15-year-olds who want to become leaders and potential staff members. Applicants must be 13 years old by Sept. 1, 2013. This fun experience is a great way to introduce the concept of employment responsibilities to teens. There will be a required fee of $20/$30 for the Junior Leader program. The fee is payable when registering for a Junior Leader interview or a returning Junior Leader information night.

New Applicants

• Complete the Junior Leader application available at www.parkfun.com, CRC, PSC and MRC after March 1. • Submit the required application and two recommendation forms before Friday, March 22 to: Kathy Moulds Pat Shephard Center 421 N. Springinsguth Road Schaumburg, IL 60194 • Register for one of the group interviews on April 2, 8 or 9. Detailed information will be included with the Junior Leader paperwork. The $20/$30 registration fee for the interview is a required fee for all Junior Leader participants. • All individuals chosen to be a Junior Leaders must register for the mandatory kick-off meeting on June 8.

Returning Junior Leaders

If you are interested in returning to the Junior Leader program, there is no need to reapply. If you do not receive a letter by March 1, contact the Pat Shephard Center at 847/490-7036. Returning leaders must register online for one of the information nights on April 2, 8 and 9 and the mandatory kick-off meeting on June 8. The $20/$30 registration fee for information night is a required fee for all 2013 Junior Leader participants. Kick-Off Meeting: Saturday, June 8 • 9AM-Noon • CRC Junior Leaders must register and attend the kick-off training meeting on June 8 at the CRC. There will be mini training sessions and a pizza lunch. Parents must attend a mandatory meeting at 11:30AM.
