~Introduction~ In order for someone to give an accurate account of the most influential and cultural iconic people in the late 1990’s into the 2010’s, Britney Spears would need to appear very high up in the list. Let’s take a look back at Britney’s career: Britney has been in the public eye for most of her life as she first appeared on the hit show Mickey Mouse Club in 1993 at just 12 years old along side Justin Timberlake, Christina Aguilera, and Ryan Gosling.

In 1998, she released what is to date one of her biggest hits of her career “...Baby one more time”. Not only did this hit single shoot Britney straight to the top but reached number one in every country it charted in. To this day, “...Baby one more time”, has over 375,000,000 streams on Spotify. Her biggest musical influences are the likes of Janet Jackson, Madonna, and Whitney Houston, which would eventually lead to Britney kissing Madonna on stage during the 2003 VMA’s.

4 Britney’s personal life was nothing short of a mess. Having two kids and going through a very public divorce while being the biggest pop star on the planet was taking a toll. In 2007 while out in Los Angles, California, Britney went into a barber shop to shave her hair and then proceeded to attack a car with an umbrella. This series of events lead Britney having to give up her freedom to her father, James Spears, through a conservator ship which is where the #FreeBritney movement begins.

Along with her millions of fans, this movement caught the eyes of the creators of the show “Black Mirror” which inspired the character “Ashley O”, played by Miley Cyrus, who has also been very vocal with her support of the #FreeBritney movement. While preforming in her Ashley O costume, Miley Cryus repeatedly yelled out to her fans “Free Britney.” .

Monument: Though this monument is simple, the message is simple. To many fans the concept is that they want to see one of their childhood heros and life long influencer, live her life freely and with basic humanity.

This monument would be made out of pink marble and always have roses for those stuck in similar situations like Britney. This monument would be placed in McComb, Mississippi which is Britney’s home town. This town is very small with just over a 12,000 person population and is mainly lower class. This monument would bring in lots of tourism and support from not just across the country but the world.
