lsa Schiaparelli, an Italian designer who was born at the Palazzo Corsini, Rome, Italy. She passed away in Paris, France. Schiaparelli was from a wealthy family, but she left all of her fourtune behind to be on her on. At first, she was a translator for awhile in the States. By 1935, she was known to be a leader in haute couture in Paris and her surrealist style in the fashion world. Along with Christian Dior, she commercialized Parisian fashion to the world.
When it came to using materials and fasterners, Schiaparelli was described as innovative. Not only did she apply surrealist arts into her designs, but she also contributed to make women’s clothing more practical and comfortable for everyday wear. Around her time, people seemed to value the illusion of a woman’s perfect body than her comfort. The move by Schiaparelli showed that her was ahead of her time by bringing comfortability to all women wherever they were at home or at the beach.

In 1952, she designed a pink dress for actress Zsa Zsa Gabor who played Jane Avril in the movie Moulin Rouge. The dress was described to be “a vision of unmistakable feminine energy.”

Why Schiaparelli Deserve A Monument?
In the world of making haute couture, Schiaparelli is a must know name. In fact, she was loved ny many artists such as Rene Magritte, Marcel Vertes, Salvdor Dali, Man Ray, Hoyningen-Huene, and many more. Although she was privileged to be a white woman to collect her success, however, she inspired people to be independent and diligent the moment to stepped out of her upper-class house to seek for her own journey. As the world is a place where women are told to be incapable of being a lot of things, Schiaparelli is even a bigger statue.

Schiaparelli used to be the only certified rival of Chanel. But as much as she hated Schiaparelli, Chanel couldn’t deny that fact that Schiaparelli was good enough to irritate her. She once called Schiaparelli “that one Italian artist.”
JEALOUSY. JEALOUSY. JEALOUSY. JEALOUSY. JEALOUSY. JEALOUSY. JEALOUSY. JEALOUSY.
In one unfortunate night. In a party, both Coco and Elsa unfatefully were in a same place with each other. What’s better than making your enemy looking like a walking torch? Coco was not only a great designer of her time but also a living nightmare for any designers who seemed to have a potential to dethrone her. Without a second thougt, Coco “accidentally” sparked Elsa’s dress on fire.
