The Stan Incredible Life Lee of Stan Lee
Stan the Man Stan Lee, born Stanley Martin Lieber, on December 28, 1922, in New York City. He is very known for his creation of comic book characters such as Spider-Man, The Fantastic Four, Hulk, etc. Lee got his start as an office assistant at Timely Comics (which later became Marvel Comics in the 1960s) in 1939. Lees’ bosses asked him to create the Marvel Series Comics in order to compete with DC Comics like the Justice league. With his partner, Jack Kirby, the both created the Fantastic Four. As these comics kept gaining success, more characters we know and love today emerged. As the years went on, more multimedia projects came out of the comics, which has created a blockbuster industry called the Marvel Cinematic Universe better known as the MCU. Sadly, on November 12, 2018, Lee passed away due to heart failure.

Although we will not be seeing Stan Lees’ cameos in the MCU anymore, he can still be remembered for the contributions he had, not just to comic books, but in the world too. Lee was known for how dynamic his characters were. He would have his characters struggle with their sense of humanity, real world issues, drugs, politics and so much more. Lee created superheroes who were real people with real problems. His work taught many people about responsibility and self-discovery. For example the X-Men are used to show the struggle of civil rights, but it is created in such a timeless way and that is thanks to Stan Lee.
EXCEL Stan Lee deserves a monument because his impact has not only reached Hollywood, but the world too. His impact is too vast to fully comprehend what he has done. Anyones influence who has that big of a positive impact worldwide should be commemorated accordingly. Stan Lee’s “Excelsior” monument will essentially be a giant 3D spider web maze, for his creation of Peter Parker aka Spider-Man.
LSIOR As you walk through the maze it would be a timeline of Stan Lee’s life and at the center there will be a button in the center. When someone presses the button it will be an audio of Lee saying his fa mous slogan “Excelsior. On the outside there will be a wall of quotes. These will be quotes of people whose lives Stan Lee has impacted as well as quotes
he himself has said.
I would place my Excelsior monument in an open field in Central Park, located in New York, New York. Lee was born and raised in New York and even got his start in the city. It feels right that his monument is in located in where he grew up. Also there is a lot of space in Central Park and a lot of tourist check it out, which means that not only would locals experience it, tourist would too.
The monument will be placed in the Quad in front of the Student Union building and in front of Horizon Hall. This is a very central location in which there is a lot of foot traffic and it will catch a lot of attention. A lot of attraction is good when you’re creating a monument because you want people to stop and watch.
“With great comes great
POWER
RESPONSIBILITY”
“Everyday is a new adventure” “You know, my motto is ‘Excelsior.’ That’s an old word that means ‘upward and onward to greater glory.’ It’s on the seal of the state of New York. Keep moving forward, and if it’s time to go, it’s time. Nothing lasts forever.”
“FACE FRONT, TRUE BELIEVERS!” “Comic books to me are fairy tales all grown up”
Lee should always be remembered and this monument will make sure we will never forget what he has done and how much impact he had on the world. As Stan Lee said,
“EXCELSIOR!”
