'Das kleine Ich bin ich' marked the beginning of her successful compositional career with a primary focus on works for children and young people. The Austrian’s compositional output ranges from operas with children’s choirs and small-scale compositions to pieces for ensembles and orchestras. She has made guest appearances with her works in the children’s and young peoples’ stage departments of the Vienna State Opera, the opera houses in Stuttgart and Cologne as well as in the main auditorium of the Komische Oper Berlin. Elisabeth Naske possesses a particular sensibility for key issues as displayed in her works which are concerned with topics such as the protection of the environment and the accumulation of waste, migration and fleeing, and the assertiveness of children and the development of a distinctive voice in the world.
