In his composition IMA (hungar. prayer), Peter Eötvös portrays the biblical act of creation by means of tonal and motivic development. The text of the composition is based on sound poems by Gerhard Rühm (Gebet) and Sándor Weöres (Genesis I. 1-3). Both poems explain the first phase of creation, the basic substance from which everything derives and to which everything returns. IMA by Eötvös is spatial music for a choir of solo singers and a large main choir. The orchestra is reassembled, and the string sections spread out over the whole place.

Peter Eötvös zeichnet in seiner Komposition IMA (ungar. Gebet) durch klangliche und motivische Entfaltung den biblischen Schöpfungsakt nach. Die textliche Grundlage der Komposition bilden Lautgedichte von Gerhard Rühm (Gebet) und Sándor Weöres (Genesis I. 1-3). Beide Dichtungen verdeutlichen diese erste Phase der Entstehung, die Grundsubstanz, aus der heraus alles kommt, und in die alles zurückkehrt. IMA ist eine Raummusik für einen Favorit- und einen möglichst groß dimensionierten Hauptchor. Die Streichergruppen des Orchesters verteilen sich im gesamten Raum.
