Ella Raidel Windor Screen, 2007 Ella Raidel’s Window Screen (2003), with its two window cleaners dangling precariously from the facade of a 20-storey highrise in Shanghai, was replicated at ground floor level in Linz’s laid-back inner city to disconcerting effect.
Alicia Martin Biografías-Book Fall, 2007 A twelve-metre long avalanche of books pouring from a porthole-shaped window in the facade of the Thalia bookstore in 2007: Alicia Martin’s Biografías.

Michael Lin Untitled, 2007 Taiwanese artist Michael Lin covered the glass facade of the Passage shopping arcade with traditional cross stitch patterns serving as a filterfor the world of consumer goods by day and as a glowing, exotically ornamented Chinese lantern at night.
Stefan Sagmeister Thinking that life will be better in the future is stupid. I have to live now, 2007 For Schaurausch, the New-York based Austrian designer Stefan Sagmeister developed two large-scale works for house facades. The pseudomoralising mottoes refer to the uses the buildings were designed for, one a casino, the other a cosmetics store.

URSULA STALDER Lagune of Venice, 2011 Ursula Stalder’s installation using flotsam from Venice’s lagoon transformed Linz’s roofscape 2011 into a surreal excavation site. A long way from the nearest sea, would this not have been an ideal place for extraterrestrials to meet up for a picnic or a lovers’ tryst?

PEPI MAIER Ice tubes, 2011 Ice-covered copper pipes in Pepi Maier’s Twist Below Zero 2.011 (2003/2011) spiralling across the loft of the Baroque Ursulinenhof, arguably the hottest spot on the exhibition path.

Hands buried in pockets, entranced by the rise and fall of the water walls in Jeppe Hein’s Hexagonal Water Pavilion (2007/2011). Participation in art: pleasurable, demanding, a game, bewildering, mathematical, child’s play. Or just here and gone.

DASH 7 Waterfall swing 2014 The artists’ group DASH’s installation Water Curtain (2014) lets visitors cross a waterfall 220 on a swing without getting wet.
FUJIKO NAKAJA Cloud Parking in Linz, 2011 Fujiko Nakaya’s Cloud Parking in Linz (2011) is a fog installation using cold water vapour. Some visitors get pleasurably lost in the ephemeral cloud as it struggles to assume shape, some watch from a distance and others remain unmoved by this almost 226 substanceless intervention.

voestalpine open space HAUS-RUCKER-CO Giant billard, 2014 Haus-Rucker-Co’s installation Riesenbillard, developed in 1970 for Vienna’s 20er Haus, shows people leaping into a giant white billiard-ball world above the rooftops of Linz. The installation’s accessibility benefits from its conceptuality. This marked the opening of the voestalpine open space in 2014.
