CHOVENDO ARTE
About the “Raining Art” project: Through the production of an umbrella, based upon an original artwork by visual artists, photographers and creatives, which is reproduced on this object, the Chovendo Arte project seeks to establish connections and spread art in a different way. In the first and second editions we looked for a connection between images and words, u m b r ellas and rain, representing the words as a silvery rain, falling between the images, selected and created by the invited artists. In the third edition, seeking a new connection, we came across the story “Light is Like Water”, by Gabriel Garcia Marquez, part of the book “Strange Pilgrims”, and found inspiration for a new link. In the story, two brothers go beyond the limits of the possible and the impossible, within a fantastic universe, where the light gushes and where they navigate and float. Just like the two boys navigate through the light, as it was water, the artists immerse in deep seas and come back to the surface to float in the light of the dreams, materialized in art. In this edition we searched for works related to the Amazon and to Nature. The works and the layouts developed after them aim to draw attention to the urgency in the Amazon’s preservation, to the issues of sustainability and the necessary awareness to transfoming our attitudes.

About the artists: ADRIANA SOARES Art has always been present in her life as poetry and music, but it was in the visual arts that she discovered the best way of expressing her view of the world and of herself. For Adriana, art is freedom and must be done with feeling and passion. She lives the moment of creation in all its intensity and one can perceive the sensibility in her works. ANGÉLICA BITTENCOURT conjures up mystical images of nature at its most beautiful. Deeply rooted in her intense love for nature, Bittencourt’s paintings are derived from her imagination, giving life to scenes the artist describes as entrenched in her subconscious. A master of color, she adeptly mixes and applies shades of astounding complexity, combining them to summon moods from across the spectrum. CHRISTINE DRUMMOND was born and raised in Brazil. She started painting in 2000, using brushes, colorful ar t works, always depicting her native country. In 2004 she put down the brushes and started working exclusively with a palette knife. Using it, made her find a sense of freedom: she loves how, with the bold strokes of her palette knife, she creates texture that make shapes and colors become alive on her canvas. CRIS MASON graduated in Publicity and Illustration from Escola Panamericana de Arte. Her paintings explore nature’s densest forms, such as a tree’s trunk and its flowers. Both are connected, in varied ways, to the tree itself, which in turn, holds two inextricable universes. Whilst part of its structure is held bright in the open air, another part performs its duty within the dark, damp, hidden soil. DANIEL FONTOURA His photographs are not digitally altered. Daniel seeks to put the observer in the middle of a game of perceptions between what is “real” or not inside the image, stimulating a reflection on the very own illusory nature of the photographic image. Reflective elements such as mirrors, water, windows and glasses are recurrent in his work EUSANETE SANT’ANNA was born and raised in Brazil. It’s now been 13 years since she has moved to the US. She started painting in 2000, using brushes, very colorful artworks, depicting her native country. In 2004 she put down the brushes and started working exclusively with a palette knife. Using it made her find a sense of freedom: she loves creating textures that make shapes and colors become alive on her canvas. FATIMA CAMPOS was born in Maceió, Alagoas. Still in Brazil, his brother, an art teacher at the University, gave Fatima some books that aroused in her the desire to paint. In 2006, already living in the US, she began to develop her artistic language. A self-taught artist, she produces her works mainly using oil on canvas. Flowers and landscapes are recurring themes. Delicacy and poetry permeate her creations.
LELLI DE ORLEANS E BRAGANÇA Lelli’s paintings evoke times long lost, but not forgotten. She depicts dream-like landscapes with trees, birds, flowers and fields. The scenes are from here homeland Brazil, influenced by her idyllic childhood there; in the remote countryside in the state of Paraná where she lived with her parents Prince Pedro Henrique de Orleans e Bragança and Princess Maria da Baviera de Orleans e Bragança. Lelli, as she is fondly known, is a princess in the former royal family of Brazil. Sister of Don Luis de Orleans e Bragança, who would be the present ruler of Brazil had the monarchy continued. LÍCIA PACÍFICO was born in São Paulo, Brazil, where she still lives and works. Flowers and butterflies in vivid colors are the core of the artist’s repertoire, before with strong and defined brushes, that after sometime started loosening its boundaries, seeking freedom. Today we can clearly see that the artist has found her way through pictorial experimentation, expressing what she wants. MALU ROGERS is an advertising executive and got artistic training at the Art Students League of NYC and The Art Studio NY. Her artwork seeks to extend and challenge the boundaries and origins of contemporary human behavior. Looks, expressions, makeup, excesses, judgments, fame, failure, quest for perfection are topics addressed. The artist makes a caricatured criticism of human futility and its complex dimensions. REGINA F. HELOU graduated in Visual Arts from Armando Álvares Penteado Foundation (FAAP). After years learning and trying several processes and techniques, Regina entered a new phase, where she uses photographs as a starting point. She chooses fragments of landscapes, cities or streets, transforming the images through color, distortion and focus, until reaching a new viewpoint. ROGÉRIO MARTINS is a Brazilian artist with more than 25 years of experience. He currently lives and works in New York, continuing the work he started in his hometown: São Paulo, Brazil. He focus on the restoration and conservation of antique furniture, besides the creation of original design pieces and artwork signed by him, using different materials and techniques, with great ability. T U C A AHLIN is an Artist in the essence of the word. Graduated in acting from Theater School Celia Helena, in jewelry design from Atelie Marcia Pompei and in dance from the Royal Academy of Dance. She discovered painting just over two years ago as a form of therapy. Totally self-taught, she follows her feeling 100%. Tuca is in the phase of sliding the spatula on the screen and enjoying the sensation and the result. VICTOR CHAHIN Nature photography entered Victor’s life when he was 12, in a field trip to the Atlantic Forest. Three years later he met the renowned photographer Araquém Alcântara and traveled with him to the Pantanal. During college, Victor began to see photography as a possibility to make people aware of the complex ecology. He aims to show biodiversity through art and to restore mankind as part of nature.
