It is the public interest activity carried out on their own initiative by any natural person, for the benefit of others, without receiving material compensation.
The activity can be carried out in areas such as: social assistance, protection of human rights, medical, cultural, artistic, educational, scientific, humanitarian, religious, philanthropic, sports, environmental protection, social, community and others.
NGOs have the role of contributing where there is a need in society, but where the state and other institutions do not have enough resources to take care of solving it.
Why do you think NGOs are important? What role do NGOs have in society?
We will read different statements that describe active citizenship behaviors. Each student is invited to analyze these statements and select the ones that suit him and that he would like to implement in the near future. It is important to select the statements that you think you can fulfill yourself - you can select as many statements as you think fit you. At the end, students will share their choices with the rest of the class.

FROM NOW ON :
FROM TODAY I
to be more active in solving problems in my community (if I detect problems I try to see if I can solve them by calling on my own or other citizens' resources) to selectively recycle waste to protect the environment. to take a stand when I observe people who will attack animals.
I will try to volunteer in school activities to promote the image of my school, to be proud of it. to get involved in projects that debate problems of the community in which I live. to inform myself about humanitarian campaigns from the mass media.
FROM TODAY I
to take a stand when I observe bullying/physically and verbally aggressive behavior towards colleagues in my school. to be more tolerant with my colleagues. If I don't agree with certain opinions I will try to attack people's ideas and not the people themselves.
