This is a white-framed window I found, its frame was cruciform it’s like a structural line.
This is a picture i took on the street of an elderly couple. I turned it black and white. It looks more retro in black and white, like an old photo. I showed the picture with simple lines. I feel like i’m more focused on the people, the human movement, which is more diverse and more vivid. Each posture is different, representing different connotations.
I think it’s a very vivid statue, and I like her figure very much it’s a very open movement .
This is my first double page. First, there are four pictures I took from the street. I drew about individual things in three of them(a squirrel\a bottle and its shadow\a part of the window)and then I conducted a more complete analysis of the fourth picture. I focused on Observing people, then thought about the dynamics of the human body. And I found a group of body photographs by Andre Brito，This is a group of black and white, naked people showing different postures, which gave me very good inspiration of human posture.
I focused on human movement and i thought about the ballet and my favorite ballerina JULIAN MACKAY‌...
I like the posture and dynamic of ballet.There are a lot of contorted positions in the poses. In the end, I did not choose to focus on legs, because I did not know what message I wanted to convey through the shape of legs.

(The idea of the sculpture) I thought of the theme of a dancer from the idea of human movement, because dance showed the beautiful body curves of human movement very well. On this double page, I carried out an in-depth search on the theme of pregnant women that I chose, compared the difference between real people and sculptures, and observed the details of pregnant women's bodies. Then I made a small experimental sculpture and I
tested carving words into my sculpture.

2: The basic form was built. The shoulder part was hard for me, and the shoulder part of my preliminary model was weird. Therefore I found some pictures of real women’s back. ( 4 different kinds)
This is the beginning of the molding, the surface is very bumpy and rough. The overall shape is unbalanced.Then, by referring to RON's work, I improved the roughness of the surface and made it smooth.I also adjusted the shape to make it look more realistic and more detailed. (overall work process) I compared the difference of the whole sculpture from the rough to the detailed at the beginning, and then showed my design for the sculpture that I would put on it, and showed my two design ideas, the tools I need to use, and then the final choice.
Introduction I chose the artists RON MUECK and MARK QUINN,because the both have a very successful personalized sculpture of a pregnant woman.But they inspired me in different ways. Ron Mueck’s sculpture is monumental, anatomically detailed and naked,and so real. His pregnant woman appears very lifelike, and this is what I want my sculpture to achieve as much as possible. I was greatly inspired by the authenticity of his sculpture. Mark Quinn’s works focus on exploring the contradictions between our outside appearance and inner being. They celebrate imperfection and the beauty of different kinds of bodies as well as the strength and vitality of the human spirit. My works use words to display spiritual thoughts, which is inspired by him and endows sculpture with a deeper meaning and soul.
Ron Mueck is an Australian surrealist sculptor, born in Melbourne, Australia in 1958, now he lives in the UK. He was a model maker at the beginning of his career, he used to create realistic models for television and film. Mueck's sculpture responds to the minute details of the human body. His style is known as hyperrealism. Mueck spends a very long time on each sculpture, sometimes more than a whole year. Also, he is always meticulous about verisimilitude. His subject is often concerned with people’s thoughts and feelings. His work varies, ranging from smaller-than-life size naked figures to much larger size, but never actual, life sized figures.
Ron Mueck - Wild man: This is the facial detail of another of his works. The fine wrinkles, real hair, skin color bursting with realism and emotional power.

The aim of Mueck was to celebrate motherhood, and he channeled this into a realistic posture of a naked pregnant body. I thought that this woman was alive, this was evidenced by the the fibreglass body, the silicone head, with a perfect replication of skin and hair. I am drawn into experiencing the sculpture with reference to myself. As well as consulting anatomy texts and photographs, Ron Muec worked with a model for three months, beginning when she was six months pregnant.

her weary body, the nails, kneecaps, nipples,and other details are flawless . It evoked my reflection on the mother’s contribution, population control, and the burden of female responsibility. Because was so much like a real pregnant woman, the human details are so vivid, I couldn't believe it wasn't alive. I think it is exactly the purpose of this work .
Marc Quinn born 8 January 1964, is a British contemporary visual artist. His works are divided into three categories：sculpture, installation and painting. 'What it is to be human in the world today' is the theme he wished to highlight. His sculptures usually deal with "distinguishing our relationship with our bodies," while exploring the theme of "mutuality and dualism of the body, defining human life: spirit and physics, surface and depth, the brain and sex." He used many different materials for his work, blood, bread, flowers, marble and stainless steel. He has worked with ideas such as corporeality, decay and preservation, with organic and degradable materials. In the 2000s, he began to use marble, bronze and concrete. He often uses classical and urban materials to show the body. Since 2010, he has worked with aluminium, graffiti paints, seaside detritus, using tapestry and painting.

Here are two of his other works about women, very weird poses.
Mark Quinn has made a series of marble sculptures of a person born with a disability. The best one is a marble statue of Alison Lapper, an artist who has a congenital malformation of short limbs. This work is known as"Renewed Venus". The work was displayed on the fourth plinth in Trafalgar square, London from September 2005 until October 2007. It weighs 13 tons and represents a huge disabled short haired naked pregnant woman, all white, indifferent, staring at the distance, as if thinking about life. The work received much praise for the social spirit it showed. It studies the relationship between objective representation and intrinsic meaning, exploring the opposition between the mind and the body through the human body. However, at the same time, Quinn received a lot of criticism because he made it without concealing physical defects. Many people strongly opposed the placement of nude statues of disabled women in the square. This has always been controversial. This sculpture simply shows her appearance, posture and expression,but it also shows infinite power and spirit in a very simple shape. I think Mark Quinn succeeded in bringing this sculpture to life,not only because it makes people feel beautiful, but it also makes people feel a sense of holiness. The body of white marble proves the spirit of elegance, gentleness and strong maternal love, as he said“Art is always ambiguous. It is poetry, not literature.”

Borrowed from Ron Mueck, I made my sculpture in detail and make its vivid, similar to the posture of his works. Quinn's work and my work, have focused on a want to express the meaning behind it, and his works have similar color as. We all created a pregnant woman’s body. I used the different materials of the two artists, so the final effect is a different style.

Mueck's pregnant woman is the perfect representative of realism. It is very detailed and vivid. Quinn's works pay attention to visual art, simple and realistic appearance, with a single color and a single material, and reflects the deep spiritual value behind it. The texture of the sculpture is different, Mueck’s looks smooth and shiny, and Quinn’s is more matte and natunal.

investigation of Repeated images in ANDY WARHOL’s works Andy Warhol（August 6, 1928 – February 22, 1987） was born in America in 1928 and from an early age showed a keen interest in art but his approaches were rather radical. Largely affiliated with the visual art movement referred to as Pop Art, Warhol’s work explored the relationships that exist between expression in art and commercial advertising and the growing culture of celebrities that was observed in America in the 1960s (Koch 6). His work took many forms such as photography, painting, sculpturing, and screen painting. Warhol made a mass reproduction of state images into art such as the famous Marilyn Monroe and Elvis Presley. Exploring the idea of mass production, creating works in series.Starting in the 1950s, Warhol’s work focused more on commercial advertisements and celebrity life. The images presented alongside are some of the works he commonly did and speak volumes about the art movement of pop culture that he was closely affiliated to.

I chose the artist ANDY WARHOL,becau se most of his work is represent his messages through repeated images ,which inspired me using the same way to do my ‘Tiger’.
In 1972,Warhol decided to celebrate an easing of relationships with China by creating a series of portraits of Chairman Mao. Painting different colors over the same iconic photograph,he transformed a mass-reproduced state image into art, while simultaneously subverting its original propaganda message with a tone of high camp.

Each of the five unique paintings of a cow has two apparent components within them. The first is the close-up image of a cow head with a leash on it and the solid color background .This inspired of my own work,my work is only the head of the tiger.These images required screenprint.Most of his work is Screenprint ,is a printing process that allows the artist to make lots of artworks that look exactly the same.Each artwork is made with individual colours and the stencil marked out the position of each color on a screen. The screen is a frame made of wood and a fine mesh stretched over it. The different coloured inks are pushed through each stencil one at a time and these colors will form a picture.This technique allowed exact replication of the image,which helps Warhol to reach his aims as A Pop Artist.This screenprint on paper which was replicated into different shades of color five times.
I zoomed in on my portrait and painted a character by hand on it. The character was not perfect, but I liked the feeling of staggering. I tried to turn my photo upside down and paint half in red precisely. I wanted to make the red parts stand out and to show off the harsh effect.
I edited the same photo three different ways ďźˆmirror effect) and made them all black and white. When I changed the light and the shadow, I tried 3 different dark and light relationships. After I edited the portrait, I wanted to print words on it. Red edited

I chose to print this 4 chinese characters, which in English mean, Reform and Different word printing techniquesďźšhollow and solid open up. I made it in Horizontal placement ďźŒand paint the left part in red with brush. Paint test(red acryl with brush)

I tried different ways to do the words. I painted on photo paper with black ,and I printed out the character and drew it with red color pencil on its back ,and transfered them on the black background.

I took a lot photos with the camera with a white light square projection on a black background. I chose these 3.
And i want to change the color balance and the effect of the photos ,and then i tried different hues ,I Wanted to achieve strong contrast, very powerful visual effects. After I edited the color balance, I added words directly on the photo,with very simple,ex plicit English words.
This is the original photo I took with myself. When I edited the photo I wanted my portrait to be at the centre of the whole background. I printed out the photo after i edited (with paper)and i tried a lot of different ways to add the red paint.
Barbara kruger I cut the photo into 9 parts and scattered the order. In this photo, I edited the words directly onto the photo and then painted the red on the eyes and mouth. I thought that I could express my message of society on the media trying to blind people and not letting them say things freely in China.
This one I ttaped it in the middle and made the tape like a Crucifixion, that I painted red all over the photo. After, I took the tape off,and it left a space without paint.
Investigation of portrait and slogans in BARBARA KRUGER’s works Introduction: I had planned to make a portrait of myself and add an explanatory text(in Chinese)to express my feelings about modern Chinese society. I decided to make the text in a larger than life size and with a strong use of tonal contrast but also concise color. Kruger uses recurring ideological messages to communicate her ideas on the themes of gender, sex, consumerism, greed and power. She criticizes everything that she feels is wrong with the society we live in and uses amazing images to get her message across to mass populations(ukessays).
Postmodernism: Postmodernism is a late 20th-century style and concept in the arts, architecture. It represents a departure from modernism and is characterized by the self-conscious use of earlier styles and conventions, a mixing of different artistic styles and media, and a general distrust of theories(lexico).
Context Barbara Kruger,an American conceptual artist and collagist,was born January 26, 1945,in Newark, New Jersey, U.S. The main purpose of her work is the critique of feminist culture and also to examine stereotypes and consumerism(artnet). Most of her work consists of black and white photographs with red and white aggressively directive slogans which have a cultural construct involving power, identity, and sexuality(wikipedia). Kruger’s work is similarly fueled by the mass media. In 1979, she began to use found images in her work ,mostly from mid-century American media-print sources(Randolf Dalton). Kruger’s artwork is considered postmodern. Postmodernism shaped Kruger’s work by her use of space, text and photos. For Kruger’s works, I think the most important part is how she perfectly fuses the picture and her words together, to create a compelling ensemble. Kruger says, “As long as pictures remain powerful, living conventions within culture, I’ll continue to use them and turn them around” (ukessays). In 1989, Kruger created “Untitled (Your Body Is a Battleground)” This is an aggressive, powerful work that encourage people to address the struggles that women face.The portrait has only the face of a woman, which is a symmetrical face and plump lips, sparkling eyes and beautiful eyebrows perfectly show the beauty of the woman ,she looks straight ahead, toward the top, gazing into the audience,a-line cuts through the middle of her face. color:Kruger uses the color red behind the text to invoke a range of feelings from the viewer. The color red can make people feel angry, loving, warm or powerful. By using these colors she could gravitate people’s attention to her work. Process：The woman's face is divided into two sides, the left side is normal,but the right side reverses the colors, and the whole photo is covered by white-on-red text. mood:In order to protest against the new anti-abortion law of 1973, untitled (your body is the battleground) was made for a women’s parade ，this was to be used as a poster for the Women’s March on Washington, to support a woman’s right to choose. This strong contrast work expresses condemnation and dissatisfaction with the new bill. This artwork divides the reproductive health debate into two sides: the negative and the positive rendition—emphasizes the twofold sidedness of the problem. The text “Your body is a battleground” represents how the female body becomes a combat zone that women both struggle for and in.

Impact on my own work I wanted to create a portrait of myself and covered it with Cinese character,as a poster,to send my message which was about the social problems in China. I will also use red, because I found in Kruger’s works ,the color is the most impressive part. The contrast of the colors in the pictures in her works made me feel shocked. The way she made the picture and the slogans blended together inspired me to think about how I could match my image and text perfectly.

I did a lot of different try with photoshop to combine different koi fish picture with the self-portrait.
The process of the koi fish and self-portrait painting. Koi fish means luck, peace, and prosperity in Chinese culture, and many people keep koi in their homes and gardens for good luck . I placed self-portrait in the background, because I wanted it to look like the fish were floating around me in the water. I chose to paint the background gold because I wanted to create a feeling of luxury, opulence, like fine silk.
