‘Travel is the only thing you buy, that makes you richer’ – anonymous This insightful quote has become a mantra in my life and is something that I truly believe in. I have had so many wonderful ‘wow’ moments while traveling, and many of the highlights have been while away with my family. Showing my children a whale shark in Mexico, elephants in Kenya or markets in Marrakech are memories that will live in our minds forever. It has been a privilege over the years to help other families plan their own trips, it’s an honor that they trust myself and our team to do so. I’ve been excited recently to see a growth in families looking to travel further afield and get more adventurous with their choice in destination. And family travel doesn’t end when your kids turn eighteen. Graduations, special birthdays or anniversary celebrations are all excuses to hop on a plane and get away with the people you love most in the world. We’d love to help you plan something wonderful for your nearest and dearest, whatever their age and interests. Thank you for your faith in us.

Top Tip - Encourage youngsters to ask questions about the vacation, kids will be much more relaxed the more familiar they are with the destination
Top Tip - Involve children in the travel planning process, give them a say on the family vacation and on what they would like to get out of it.
Top Tip - Give teenagers a budget for the vacation and let them keep what they don’t spend after the trip, this way they’re in control and may learn the value of money in each country, possibly how to barter and even save!
Top Tip - Give younger generations a sense of ownership by assigning them a task while abroad, such as map reading or choosing a restaurant.

Top Tip - For multi-generational vacations, check each individual’s needs, let us know and we’ll make sure every member of the trip has an unforgettable time.
Top Tip - Don't try and fit too much in, if everyone gets tired you won't enjoy your time together. Factor in some down-time, so you can just hang out all together.
Top Tip - Make a fun video or journal that every member of the family contributes to, it’s a great way to bring everyone together and store memories.
Top Tip - Think big: don’t let children hold you back from exploring your dream destinations, with planning you can really immerse every member of the family in a new country. 5

SOME THING MEANING FUL
Guest of Scott Dunn, Charles, buys a school bus for a local village in Tanzania The best kind of family travel is the kind that touches you in deep, unexpected ways but also benefits the communities you visit. As an ethical travel company, Scott Dunn is passionate about promoting properties and experiences that help sustain jobs, protect wildlife and build connections in the areas our guests visit. More US families are choosing to add a philanthropic angle to their vacation, be it to deliver supplies to remote villages, meet the researchers working to save endangered species or sponsoring young safari guides through school. This is travel with heart. Real, emotional journeys will help children fall in love with the Earth’s special places, cultures and wildlife, the catalyst to them becoming the next generation of global citizens. Some Scott Dunn guests are inspired to go the extra mile, like one family who recently bought a bus to help Tanzanian children get to and from their local school safely. When family extends beyond your own borders, that’s the power of travel.

What does luxury mean to you? Once it was all about swanky properties, thread count linen, chandeliers and Michelin-star food. These days, luxury is being redefined as your chance to unplug and reconnect with the people you love. It’s slow travel, personalized itineraries and the simple pleasures of time and space. Of course, families still want beautiful accommodation and outstanding service, but it’s less about the bling and more about the experiences you have together. Our Travel Experts are dab hands at cherry picking activities for each family member to quicken the pulse, soothe the soul or inspire connections. Perhaps you’d relish the chance to learn something new, like how to make your own tequila in Mexico or sandboarding in Namibia? Or maybe you long to share a passion for photography or wildlife with those who matter most? Family travel is about the memories we take home, long after the last the click of the camera or bite of bucatini.
