Catalina State Park

Enjoy Music in the Mountains at Catalina State Park on the first Saturday of the month. • Saturday, January 1, 3 PM: Brian Berggoetz, a high energy band playing some originals and covers. • Saturday, January 15, 3 PM: Bill Ganz, good ol’ Country-Western music. • Saturday, February 5, 3 PM, Austin Owen, a mix of Latin music, songs from the 60s including Brit pop, R&B and country western.

All-day admission to the park is $7 per vehicle, and the concert is included with park admission.

Square Dancing

Dancers from SCOV are welcome at SaddleBrooke, Mountain View Clubhouse Ballroom, 38759 S. MountainView Blvd., www.saddlebrookesquares.com. Club dances are Sundays, 7-9 PM, nonmembers, $8 pp.

Never square danced? The Saddlebrooke Squares are offering a free first lesson at their Give Us A Whirl (GUAW) on Thursday, January 6; square dance lessons will then continue on Thursday, January 13. Literacy Connects

Calling all Curious Book Lovers and Readers. Literacy Connects’ Reading Seed Program is looking for coaches.

If you find joy in seeking out the perfect book, learning something new, and think that everyone should have access to programs and materials that spark a love of reading, this is the volunteer gig for you. To learn more, visit www.literacyconnects.org and click on “Volunteer.”

Pack Meals for Feed My Starving Children

Each day 6,200 children die due to hunger. Help save a life. Oro Valley Church of the Nazarene (OVCN), with Feed My Starving Children, are packing one million meals–with your help. 5,000 volunteers are needed.
