Extended Community

As a young girl, Charlotte Landis spent countless hours with her parents maintaining and nurturing their garden. Her paintings highlight the details she discovers in the earth. Charlotte’s paintings come to life as she invites the viewer to take a closer look.

Charlotte has been painting in her studio since 2007. When vacationing Charlotte Landes in Maine she has shown works at the Ellsworth Library with the “Wednesday Painters,” Schooner Art Gallery in Milbridge and Lighthouse Arts Center in Bucksport.

Government Affairs Chair Earl Vittitoe scovga@gmail.com Second Wed., 1 PM, WC1 www.suncityorovalley.com/committees/government-affairs/

The recent Oro Valley mayoral debate was a great success. In fact, those wishing to attend the forum exceeded facility capacity. SCOV insurance requires that we restrict attendance to the capacity rating for each location.

The allotted time frame did not allow all of the suggested questions to be put to the candidates. The remaining questions were provided to the candidates and their written responses were subsequently returned and are now posted on the SVOC website under Committees/GAC/documents.

The GAC has restarted the “Coffee with a Cop” program, an intimate format to ask our local law enforcement all those questions regarding the safety of our community. The first of these is scheduled for Thursday, September 8, 8 - 9 AM, at The Views Restaurant. Seating is limited to 40. Other future forums in the planning stage include local district race debates and a forum on local and statewide water issues.

The Loan Room is a free service available to all SCOV residents. We have short-term loans for medical equipment, tables and chairs, beds and many children’s items. Reservations may be made up to two months in advance of a need, either at the Loan Room or on our website. You need your SCOV card when you receive items. Our hours are 8-9 AM, Tuesdays and Thursdays. We ask that you bring whatever help you need to carry equipment to your car. Please do not leave equipment at the Loan Room outside of our open hours. We appreciate your patience during the summer while the air conditioner was not working, causing problems with some of our computers. Please come and see what we have available during our open hours.

Neighborhood Pride

Chair: Bill Bable Questions 520-917-8079 scoroval@ciramail First Wed., 9 AM, Catalina Vista

Congratulations on choosing to live in this glorious community. You may have selected SCOV because of its natural beauty, amenities, or available activities. Equally important is that SCOV is so beautifully maintained. This is a direct result of the efforts of staff, maintenance crews, the residents and the active members of several committees. Neighborhood Pride is one of these committees. Now under the leadership of Bill Bable, there are some big goals. Consistency. Simplicity. Communication. Together, we’re up for the task.

Posse Chair Linda Simōn 520-789-7169 posse@5LP.com First Tue., 3 PM, Desert Oasis (no meetings until October) www.scovaz.com/members/committees/posse

The Posse is dedicated to keeping our residents safe. Here are a few safety tips:

A. Be sure your garage door is closed at night.

B. Check your front door and garage door lights to be sure they are working and replace the bulbs when needed.

C. Check the lights on your house numbers sign and replace the light bulbs when they are dim. (This is especially important for emergency personnel to be able to read your address, also so family and friends can find you easier.)

D. If you park your vehicles outside of your garage, be sure to lock the doors.

The Posse is looking for board members and volunteers to patrol. For information contact Linda Simōn.
