Thursday, December 15, 2 PM Preview of Winter 2023 Courses
Institute of Learning in Retirement (ILR) invites all SCOV residents to Catalina Vista for a preview of the winter courses that begin in February. After brief presentations from each instructor, you will have an opportunity to register in person on site. ILR provides classes on a variety of topics during a 10-week winter term right here in SCOV, much like a small community college.
Friday, December 16, 2 PM Brain Health Informational Meeting
Join the Active Health Committee at Catalina Vista for an informational meeting about the formation of a Brain Health Action Group, which will start meeting bi-weekly in January. This group will follow the well-researched “Bredesen 7” action steps to prevent and reverse cognitive decline. This meeting will be hosted by Joan Partridge with support by Dr. Rick Menet and Rita Menet, RN & HC.
Tuesday, December 20, Noon Holiday Parade
Drive a vehicle in the parade or watch along the route. There will be a contest for the best decorated golf carts. We are looking for motorcycles, automobiles, Veterans or other groups that would like to be in the parade. If you are interested, join the line up at 11:30 AM at the Posse Shack or contact Brenda Puzzele-Stoltz, Lifestyle Coordinator, 520-9178077. The route will be published in “This Week in SCOV” and on our website.
Tuesday, December 20, 6 PM David Gorgie, Impersonator
Professional impersonator David Gorgie has performed thousands of shows featuring standup comedy, singing and acting. David does 30 different celebrities from Austin Powers to Frank Sinatra, Elvis, Johnny Cash, several Presidents and more. Bring your own snacks and BYOB. Tickets are $10 pp. Seating at Catalina Vista is limited. Tickets may be purchased from the website at Members Only > Member Services > Tickets > David Gorgie.
Wednesday, December 21, 3 PM Book Bingo
Take a break from the holiday madness and let loose by shouting bingo! Join the Friends of The Library (FOL) in WC3 for Book Bingo. Open to the whole community, this is regular Bingo with books as prizes. No literary knowledge needed. Your cash donation of $5 pp at the door supports the SCOV Library. Bring a beverage and nibbles. Tuesday, December 27, 1 PM Tucson Museum of Art Talk
The TMA Art Talks have resumed with tremendous popularity, so we invite you to join us for December’s presentation: “She Walks in Beauty: The Artworks of 12 African-American Women Artists Spanning 150 Years,” presented by docent Adrienne O’Hare. Join us in WC3 to learn about these beautiful artworks and what they reveal about the artists and the universality of what it means to be a woman.
