SDPB won in the following categories: Excellence in Writing – “’He Didn’t Deserve to Die: State COVID Policy Remains as Disease Surges,” Reporter: Lee Strubinger. Douglas Raysby, 57, of Sioux Falls died from COVID after 10 days in the hospital. Investigative Reporting – “From Never Again to Again: Politics Trump Environmental Concerns about Mount Rushmore Fireworks,” Reporter: Seth Tupper. The decisions around the on-again, off-again July 4 fireworks displays at Mount Rushmore. The Radio Television Digital News Association has been honoring outstanding achievements in electronic journalism with the Edward R. Murrow Awards since 1971. Award recipients demonstrate the spirit of excellence that Murrow set as a standard for the profession of electronic journalism.
