Virtual 25th Anniversary Celebration seacrestschool.org/auction FREE Event - Packages Available
Welcome to our Virtual 25th Anniversary Celebration Sea Crest School set out 25 years ago with an ambitious dream and vision to provide “an independent, well-rounded education option” for the San Mateo County coastal communities. The school was founded by the Williamson and Mazer families, who enlisted the expertise of Ginger Girvin, an educator and tutor on the coast. Plans came together quickly, with the school opening on September 9th, 1996. Despite the fact that the original building wasn’t complete, it didn’t prevent classes from starting with 22 students who met at staff members’ homes. In record time, the building with 7 classrooms opened on Monte Vista Lane. In January 2001, Sea Crest moved to its present site, and a new gymnasium and multi-purpose building (with a multi-sport court, a stage for performances, and classrooms for music, drama and extended day) opened in December 2001. In the years that followed, the middle school, second floor, innovation lab, outdoor space, and marine science lab have been added to our campus. From an initial enrollment of 22 students, the school has progressed steadily during the past two and a half decades, now enrolling 267 students and embarking on many new and exciting projects. Sea Crest has always been a place where students engage curiosity, express creativity, act with compassion and lead with courage. We are a small school that puts our students at the center of everything we do. We provide them a community to build a strong academic foundation, grow in selfawareness and develop their own voice to advocate for themselves and those around them. Our program focuses on the developmental stage of each child with an exciting and enriching project-based learning curriculum that empowers our graduates to take risks and make a positive impact on the world around them. So tonight we toast and acknowledge all of those who came before us to make Sea Crest an option for our own children. To those pioneering founders, dedicated teachers and countless parents who paid it forward so that we can thrive today. Tonight is an opportunity to do as our founders did and build upon the generosity of our community. Thank you for joining us to celebrate the past, toast the present and create our vision for the future of many years to come. We are grateful for you and for all you do for our community. Warmly,
Lauren Miller Head of School
