A Culture of Giving & Getting Involved

Dear Sea Crest Community,

At Sea Crest, we believe that a meaningful home-school partnership is the foundation of our students’ educational experience and success. It is important that we build positive connections with each other and that every member of our community contributes to enhancing our school as a whole.

Fundraising plays a crucial role in this partnership, allowing us to support essential program enhancements like professional development for our teachers, enriching academic and co-curricular experiences, and maintaining flexible tuition to keep our school accessible to a diverse range of students. While tuition is vital, it’s through your donations that we can truly elevate the educational experience for every student.

Our culture of giving and getting involved at Sea Crest is extraordinary. Guided by the principle of “leave it better than we found it,” this commitment is at the heart of our community. We encourage every family, board, staff and faculty members to actively support our Annual Fund and key fundraisers like the Dream Event, Raise the Paddle, and Ginger Girvin Run. Participation in cherished community events—such as the Family Spaghetti Dinner, Halloween Carnival, Pumpkin Festival, Night of Lights, Grandparents Day, as well as assemblies, beach clean-ups, and learning celebrations—also strengthens the bonds that make our school special.

In the following pages, you’ll find various ways to partner with us and get involved at Sea Crest. Please review the information carefully, and don’t hesitate to reach out if you have any questions—my door is always open.

Thank you for being an essential part of our Sea Crest family. I look forward to working with you to strengthen our partnership for a successful school year.

Best regards,

Ginger Girvin Run

Annual Fund

The Annual Fund at Sea Crest School plays a vital role in sustaining and enhancing the unique educational experience offered to students. Each year, contributions to the Annual Fund enable the school to invest in its people, programs, and campus, directly impacting the quality of education provided. These funds help maintain the innovative, inclusive learning environment that prepares students academically, emotionally, and socially for the future. Donations to the Annual Fund are tax-deductible, and the collective support of our community makes a meaningful difference in the lives of students and the future of the school.

We know that our future leaders come from a broad range of backgrounds and cultures, and they deserve the outstanding foundation an independent school can provide.

Our full-ride scholarships offer talented but economically disadvantaged and culturally underrepresented 5th to 8th-grade students from our Half Moon Bay community access to an exceptional education, while also enriching our classrooms and broader community.

We could not be prouder of the support we have received for this program over the last three years.

Why We Give

Giving is essential to the growth and renewal of Sea Crest. It’s more than just supporting the school; it’s about contributing to a larger purpose and fostering a sense of belonging. When we give, we witness the positive impact on the school community, the local community, and beyond.

There are numerous ways to give and become part of this community. Over the years, contributions have come in various forms: driving to sports games, serving as room parents, volunteering in the classroom or for hot lunch, and donating to the flexible tuition program, annual fund, or DREAM event, among others.

When our family first joined Sea Crest, there was no Marine Science room, Reef, Library, or Scholars program. Today, we celebrate incredible advancements, including the opening of our new gym this fall and the beloved Art Studio that opened last year. Thanks to our community’s ongoing support and the school’s leadership, we’ve significantly improved our campus facilities, programs, and overall community. Thank you!

Beyond these new facilities and programs, our family deeply appreciates the Social Emotional Learning celebrated throughout the campus year-round. These qualities and values are important to us, and we love that our volunteering and giving help instill these essential skills in our community.

We invite you to get involved and contribute your support—whether through time, talent, or treasure—to help make this place even better than when you arrived. Plant the “seed” now so that, 28 years from now, families can continue to enjoy the supportive, inclusive community that we cherish today.

Best wishes for an amazing start to the school year!

Why We Get Involved

Our family made the decision to join the Sea Crest community in 2021 and I’m so grateful for the experiences we’ve had in this supportive and enriching environment. Over the last few years, I’ve volunteered as a room parent and served on the Family Association Board (FAB) as a Volunteer Coordinator. This year, I am eager to step into my new role as President and can’t wait to collaborate with the FAB and Sea Crest community to find innovative ways to support the school.

Not only have I learned so much about the diverse talents and backgrounds of Sea Crest parents and family members, but I’ve also experienced their willingness to give the gift of time and share their knowledge and experiences with our community. This is such a special gift that truly enriches the Sea Crest experience.

One of my favorite events is the Ginger Girvin Run for flexible tuition. Every year, I am amazed by the number of volunteers who pitch in to make this important event a success. From the lap markers to the healthy snack committee and accounting team, it is remarkable to see what can be accomplished when so many community members contribute what they can when they can.

In the coming year, I encourage you to get involved and become part of your child/ family member’s Sea Crest experience in a way that works for you. I look forward to connecting with new and returning families as we settle into the new school year!

Best regards,

(4th Grade) and Justin (Class of 2024)

Ways To Give Ways To Get Involved

Family Association Board

Are you interested in joining something amazing? The Family Association Board (FAB), previously known as the Parent Association Board (PAB), plays a crucial role in connecting families and the school. FAB promotes active participation and teamwork between home and school, aiming to support community harmony and ensuring that administrators, parents, and teachers collaborate to provide the best school experience for our children.

So, want to jump on board with FAB? All families of Sea Crest students are automatically members of FAB. The Executive Committee, serving two-year terms, leads and organizes various activities that benefit the school community. There are countless ways to jump in and give your “Honorable Hours,” which are the volunteer hours each family is encouraged to give annually. Whether it’s joining field trips, helping out at school events, or supporting general school needs like crossing guard duty or hot lunch assistance, your involvement makes a world of difference. Join us and be a part of our vibrant community, enhancing the Sea Crest experience for everyone!
