Lieutenant Governor’s Address

Hopefully you’ve been able to start off your service year with a bang, and as we transition from a school mindset to a summer mindset, I’d like to encourage you to keep serving your communities and engaging with Key Club. The district has many ways for you to do just that, whether it’s attending International Convention in late June or enrolling in the Community Food bank of New Jersey’s Teen Hunger Institute on July 29th, we’ve provided a myriad of avenues for you to stay involved. Until then, enjoy the rest of the year!

Hunterdon Central Key Club

Now that we have had the first few months of meetings we would like to thank everyone for participating in all our events through out the year.

We will have lots more and we love

that

everyone

is

so

enthusiastic

for

participating in all of them. If we keep it up we will be doing a truly amazing job and this will be a very successful year.

The Secretary

I joined Key Club last year because I knew it was a good way to give back to my community. The great thing about the club is that there are opportunities to help out at the local schools and to volunteer at various organizations. So far I’ve helped out by raising money for the YMCA, ringing bells for the Salvation Army, and planning and organizing other volunteer opportunities. Additionally, Kiwanis Club itself is an international organization with connections all around the globe. So not only can club members advocate and help out with domestic causes, but we can also help around the country and even the world. I think it's great that we can all be apart of a bigger cause. This year we have written holiday cards to veterans and raised money for Unicef.

Moreover, Key club is a great way to make friends with people. Through volunteering opportunities or the various key club events, you can meet different people throughout the community or even people throughout the country. I know that because of Key Club, I’ve made many great friends. Furthermore, my position as secretary in the club has taught me some important values. I have learned to be responsible through my keeping of club records and managing club activities. I have also learned the importance of commitment and dedication through my attendance of weekly club and officer meetings. Overall, Key Club is a great club to join because it provides members with many opportunities. I am proud to say that I am a member of Key Club.

Our Activities

We are at the point of the year where we have done a lot of events. We have done Holly Trail where we helped serve and set tables for people going around. We have helped with Elementary school parties through the year. We have also done UNICEF around Halloween which many people participated in. We have lots of great members in our club and we will do even more great things once we return from winter break.

New Jersey District

Now that Key Leader is over the service year is coming to and end. Soon the elections for LTGs will be happening. The next big event with the District of New Jersey will be DCON. It is bound to be a good time and its highly recommended that if you can attend to do so. The theme this year will be License to Serve. For more information on the district go to the website to see everything they are doing. http://www.njkeyclub.org/

Key Leader

Key Leader was truly a great experience. There were lots of people there and we learned a lot about becoming better leaders and better people overall. Everyone who went made new friends and had an amazing time. Lots of the district board was there and many people have been before went back again. The program was fantastic and I highly recommend going next year if you can.

Key Club International

Guyana is the newest country to join our Key Club family. They have already started working hard on their very own project called GrowGIA! Their project won a single service award at convention this past spring. They are showing the world what it means to be a true Key Club country.
