After the taper ring is installed the clamp can be installed onto the flange. The clamp is comprised of three main clamp bodies. The clamp bodies are fixed to an alignment plate to provide a fixed geometry as it is opened and closed. The main drive screw that opens and closes the clamp is interfaced to a class I-IV Torque Tool Bucket. To install the clamp around an existing flange connection the rear clamp body swings open by simply un-pinning one side which creates a hinge point. The ROV operates a mechanism which pulls the pin out of the body, once the pin is pulled free a cylinder is actuated which

will push the clamp body in the open or closed position. With the rear clamp body opened, the ROV can place the clamp around the flange and then hydraulically close it. After the clamp is placed around the flange and the pin re-inserted, the ROV can use a standard Class IV Torque Tool to close the clamp and fasten the two flanges together.

The clamp has a few industry firsts other than what is described above. Such as an integrated geometry that allows the user to hang the clamp on the flange in the horizontal orientation while pulling the same size flange into it from below. It also has an industry first rotating trunnion keeper plate which allows the ROV to simply rotate the keeper plate and remove the rigging rather than pulling a pin which can be cumbersome. SEANIC OPENS ITS TEST POOL TO DIVE PIRATES Earlier this year Seanic was introduced to an amazing group of people that call themselves Dive Pirates and we decided to open our facility to them in October. “The day was used to provide additional in-water training, in our 30’ deep test tank, to some of their members. Everyone had a great time and Seanic stands ready to support them again in 2018,” says Tom Ayars, President of Seanic. The foundation is dedicated to bringing scuba diving to persons with mobility disabilities. The group began in 2003 as a social club for divers is now a non-profit foundation that supports, trains, equips and provides dive travel to individuals with disabilities through Adaptive Scuba Diving. While the program is open to all medically qualified physically disabled people, Dive Pirates focuses on disabled military, law enforcement and first responder veterans who have sustained injuries in the line of duty. Some of these men and women have lost a part of their youth in combat; they aim to help restore a sense of adventure, community and hope for these wounded warriors. The Dive Pirates Foundation actively: • Raises funds through annual fundraisers, memberships, sponsorships, crowdfunding websites, grants and dive chapters. • Recruits injured veterans and others who are medically qualified and physically disabled, helping to change lives. • Trains and equips participants to scuba dive as well as their adaptive buddy (i.e. spouse, sibling, friend, parent). • Takes them on a trip of a lifetime. • Encourages and supports them to continue diving as part of their lifestyle and well as rehabilitation. “The Dive Pirates are a group of volunteers that strongly believe in supporting their community through their passion of scuba diving and I highly recommend you consider supporting them as well,” says Ayars. SEANIC HOSTS MTS HOUSTON ANNUAL BARBECUE Neither the dismal state of the offshore industry nor the aftermath of Hurricane Harvey were enough to keep over 600 industry professionals and supporters from attending the recent MTS Houston Section Barbecue held on October 26, 2017. Seanic was privileged to host this outstanding event at its West Houston facility for the second consecutive year. The event included eighty exhibit tables from leading vendors and suppliers who showcased their products, services and new technology. Fourteen supporting sponsors ensured the success of this year’s event. Over 100 local high school and university students attended the event to display their latest robotics and engineering projects. An excellent Texas-style barbecue dinner was smoked and served by Chuck and Reed Richards and Rick Cisneros of C.A. Richards and Terry Dailey of Schlumberger. In addition, the evening included an array of door prizes and a silent auction.
Melissa Wood of TDI-Brooks International, Inc. chaired the event. Wendy Post of Oceanscan and Stephanie Rollins of Bibby Subsea organized the Silent Auction while Debbie Jackson of Integra Technologies along with a number of volunteers helped manage registration and event logistics. The MTS Houston Section Barbecue has been held annually in October for over 30 years and is one of the Section’s most important fund raisers. SUBSEA LOAD CELL The Seanic load cell is designed to provide accurate, reliable load readings for the lifting of subsea structures. This unit is a simple, rugged and reliable alternative to some of the other high tech options on the market. Calibration certifications are good for one year and can be quickly recertified annually. The subsea load cell comes with 2x gauges: one 0-10000 lb calibrated and one 0-20000 lb calibrated and can be interchanged quickly.

SUCTION CUP STICKY FOOT Seanic designs and manufactures a suction cup sticky foot that can be built to custom sizes or suction levels to assist in station-keeping and lifting smooth-surface objects.

VORTEX DREDGE KIT The most powerful 4 inch ROV and diver dredge in the world is available for rent. The Vortex has a removal rate performance more commonly seen in the 6 inch dredges. Vortex do not supply dredges as a combination jetter/ dredge unit, with the belief that it is better to create the most powerful inlet suction and combine that with an actual high pressure jetter unit.

DUAL FLUID HPU Seanic has designed and built a new Hydraulic Power Unit that is very unique. The use of a check ball pump and an electric motor was the difference between a standard oil HPU that can’t pump the water glycol and the air driven pumps usually used in this application.

30 INCH SAW This clamp design cuts through a single jumper and eliminates concerns of aligning multiple cuts. It’s retroactive, so all previously purchased 20 inch super grinders can be added to the clamp, and is easily removed for standalone applications. FLEX JOINT CLEANING TOOL ROV COMPATIBLE The flex joint cleaning tool was designed to clamp around steel catenary risers with pipeline diameters ranging from 6 to 24 inches. The tool is operated by a Seanic technician through the use of a joystick and tooling computer with GUI interface inside the ROV control van.

SEA CHEST COVERS MULTIPLE SIZES Seanic has designed and manufactured ROV-installable Sea Chest Covers in a variety of sizes, used for UWILD and for marine maintenance activities on subsea platforms. During a UWILD the external hull must be cleaned and inspected, in addition to the replacement and/or repair of internal systems inside the hull.
WHAT’S IN THE BOX -- OPERATING & MAINTENANCE MANUAL
Seanic’s Sea Chest Covers are used to plug the open flange during inspection and maintenance campaigns. The operation and functionality is imperative to the successful sealing of the internal hull while personnel and equipment are inside performing the inspection and maintenance. The differential pressure at the sea chest flange provides a sealing mechanism allowing for the seal face of the Sea Chest Cover to stay in place and prevent seawater from entering into the flange. Clamping mechanisms on the sea chest covers provide additional security for the connection and sealing force. An internal bladder on the sea chest is inflated using a seawater injection pump providing an internal sealing element as a secondary measure to prevent any additional seawater from entering the hull in the event of a slow failure of the primary face seal. The design is ROV friendly, and capable of being deployed and installed efficiently. Seanic’s API 17H FLOT and Class 1-4 torque tool is used to deploy and lock the Sea Chest Cover onto the sea chest flange.
