Foreword Cornwall has a rich traditional history of fishing. This exhibition by Gordon Couch, an ex boat restorer and builder, brings this history back to life with an engaging collection of paintings on 'historic timbers' from boats he has restored in the past. Timber used for these paintings has been salvaged from either old Cornish Crabbers which were wood fishing boats used in and around small harbours in Cornwall or from an old Oyster Punt used by Gordon’s family to harvest oysters using hand dredges on the River Fal. The final painted pieces bring together everything that is Cornish, the ex-boat builder turned artist using his past and present skills to depict the true essence and nostalgia of Cornish fishing life.
