DAVID ATKINS Devon and Cornwall

Devon and Cornwall - Foreword McAllister Thomas are delighted to be staging a solo exhibition of new works by David Atkins simply entitled 'Devon and Cornwall'. Cornwall' This show has been in the making for the past two years and David has made several trips in 2012-13 to capture the breathtaking scenery of this part of SW England. He has returned with a truly staggering collection of works that capture both the magic and the enticement of these two outstanding Counties. Devon and Cornwall attract thousands of people each year with their magnificent seascapes, landscapes and unspoilt charm. The rugged coastline in this area of outstanding natural beauty contains some of the Country's finest sheltered fishing villages and harbours, whilst close by are vast unspoilt sandy beaches. Meanwhile, not too far inland, there are wild expanses of remote moorland that provide a breathtaking granite windswept wilderness that is steeped in both geological and human history. In his paintings, David strives to capture a specific moment in time, and depict the true essence and atmosphere of his chosen locations. The results are stunning and for many these paintings will stir happy memories of summers spent in this lovely part of the world. David Atkins attended some of Britain’s finest art schools, including St. Martins School of Art in London, and his work is now to be found in collections worldwide. Amongst many awards David was the winner of the Discerning Eye Façade International Prize in 2009.
