Marie Watt - Sculpture
Chris Engman - Ink on Paper Our third exhibition for Chris Engman explores photography’s issues of truth: “Many of my images seem improbable but are encoded with evidence of their veracity. They are, in most cases, truthful in the sense that what is pictured in a final print is what the camera saw on its final shoot; they are “straight.” They are deceitful, because all photographs are deceitful, but they are truthful in that they tell the truth about their deceit. One of the aims of my work is to reveal—and then revel in—the deceit of images.”
All the works on sale will be exhibited from May 22 through June 29. Please see gallery website for details of works on sale and their discounted prices. Among the artists included are: Loretta Bennett Louise Bourgeois John Buck Chuck Close Richard Diebenkorn Marcel Dzama Helen Frankenthaler Robert Gober Anthony Goicolea Jane Hammond William Kentridge Glenn Ligon Sally Mann Kerry James Marshall Robert Motherwell Deborah Oropallo Martin Puryear Susan Rothenberg Ed Ruscha Sean Scully Roger Shimomura James Siena Kiki Smith Frank Stella WayneThiebaud Kara Walker John Waters Terry Winters Lisa Yuskavage

Darren Waterston - Cadence Waterston’s exhibition, entitled Uncertain Beauty, is at MASS MoCA in North Adams, MA., through January, 2015. Filthy Lucre, an installation within the larger survey, re-imagines James McNeil Whistler’s 1876 Peacock Room, as Waterston says, “in a state of decadent demolition—a space collapsing in on itself, heavy with its own excess and tumultuous history. I imagined it as an unsettling cacophony with every interior surface and object within sumptuously painted. Filthy Lucre will travel to the Smithsonian’s Freer Gallery of Art in Washington, DC, where it will be exhibited alongside Whistler’s own room in the collection of the Smithsonian Institution.
