What is SEBRAE? SEBRAE was founded in 1972. We are a private non profit autonomous social service with a funding originated from a tax contribution of 0,3% over entreprises payroll. It is administered by a Board Council composed by Public and Private Institutions. SEBRAE-SP carries out actions directly with businessmen to improve competitiveness among companies, aiming at profiting and attaining return on investments. It stimulates the development of a favorable environment for the generation of small businesses, defining and influencing public policies that reduce bureaucracy and tax burden and benefit entrepreneurship. It promotes the strengthening of links of production chains for the insertion of a greater number of small companies in business segments. It creates the basis for the development of an enterprising culture in future generations, as a way to increase access to work and income.

Context • High quality educational background is a critical success factor in any business venture. • The expansion of the vocational education system is vital for Brazil, considering the country´s need of skilled entrepreneurs. It is essential to strengthen the small business sector.

Entrepreneurship Schools An initiative that promotes entrepreneurship and improves the level of education of entrepreneurs. A network to offer public vocational education in highschool and college levels, in the state of São Paulo. A system that aids students in earning a higher degree education by transferring credits from secondary to college education. A partnership with educational institutes that creates the opportunity to develop quality public secondary education. Partnership with Centro Paula Souza Professionals to boost the economic development Centro Paula Souza, affiliated with the Department of Economic Development Science and Technology, plays a key role in economic development and social inclusion in the State of São Paulo by monitoring the demand of different regions and qualifying professionals to meet them. Aiming at encouraging professional qualification and contributing to expand employment rates in the State, the institution promotes an ongoing dialogue with corporate representatives, governmental agencies, and labour organizations. As Latin America’s largest professional education network, the institution has developed an innovative qualification model, therefore providing an increasing learning curve for competence acquisition, resulting from initiatives in the shortand long-run. Among these activities, one deserves to be highlighted, the preparation of curricula together with technicians from employers and the implementation of a solid partnership culture through agreements with corporations. These methodologies provide state-owned Technical Schools (Etecs) and Technology Colleges (Fatecs) the tools required to educate professionals who are qualified to work in the management or front line of operations in the various segments of the economy.

FATECs Technology Colleges The public higher education institutions, Technology Colleges (FATECs) from SĂŁo Paulo State offer courses for emerging segments. Technologists graduated at Fatecs are very responsive to market changes due to their solid knowledge acquired under the guidance of professors who work in the productive sector. Activities are performed not only in modern laboratories, but also on partner companies, which require students for internship and job recruitment.
ETECs Technical Schools The State Technical Schools ( ETECs ) are attended by over 200 thousand Technical and Secondary students. Technical Education offers different courses for the Industrial, Agricultural and Services sectors. Some technical courses that are integrated with Secondary Education which are offered in blended modality. The institution also formats and implements original courses with curricula definided along with representatives from several productive sectors. ETEC students are distinguished in the Secondary Education, according to the evaluation performed in the National Secondary.
