THE EDWARDIAN GAZETTE Headmaster’s Message Dear Parents and Community Members The first part of this term is devoted to the Mid Year Examinations session. This is an important landmark of our assessment policy since it allows the students to analyse their level of attainment and progress. The focus is on revising and studying in a structured way. These examinations constitute a very important benchmarking exercise and a valid indication of the strengths and the weaknesses to be addressed, especially for the Year 11 and Year 13 students. I augur to all the students that they invest their time wisely and that they commit themselves to their studies. My advice to parents is to offer their support and encouragement, without putting unnecessary pressure on the students. On a different note, I would like to inform you that Ms D Inglott, the IB Coordinator, and I have started visiting Church and Independent schools to promote the IB Diploma programme. So far the response has been very encouraging and this augurs well for the future of the College.

I would like to wish you and your dear ones a Happy New Year.

Best Regards,

Mr George Psaila Headmaster

THE EDWARDIAN GAZETTE Christmas Eve Mass

Dear Parents & Students I would like to take this opportunity to wish you all the best of this New Year 2012. This year the Midnight Mass was very well attended. As always I am very grateful for everyone’s cooperation, support, generosity and commitment. I am very happy and proud to announce that the sum collected during the Christmas Eve Mass at the College amounted to ₏540.12. Thanking all those who contributed so generously, I hope that the sum collected this year and the one collected last year will be used for the collective needs of the College. A VERY HAPPY NEW YEAR. Best Wishes & God Bless you all

Christmas Activities The festive season has seen the children and staff at Kindergarten very busy. To get the children in the festive spirit, an outing was arranged for both KG1 and KG2 children for a ride on the road train around Rabat and Mtarfa. Rather than listening to the usual commentary about the passing sights, the children were entertained by Christmas music, blaring from the loudspeakers. They joined in very enthusiastically with the songs, ensuring that the local people noticed us and gave us a wave! The children thoroughly enjoyed this experience, as can be seen by their happy faces! All the children did some kind of Christmas baking, which resulted in various delicacies, such as Christmas biscuits, log and mince pies being sent home to share with families. No doubt the highlight of the run up to Christmas was the nativity and carol recitals which took place in the chapel. KG2 children acted out and sung songs based on different versions of the story of the birth of baby Jesus and the KG1 children entertained their parents with their innocent renditions of both traditional and modern Christmas songs. During the last week, the children enjoyed small parties in their classrooms, culminating in a visit from Father Christmas on the last day of term. Despite such a busy festive season, we still found time to impart the true message of Christmas and to encourage the children to think of others less fortunate than themselves.
