The Phir Se actor opens up about his upcoming release and how he transformed himself to play the character of a loverboy…
Akshay Kumar is the fittest actor in Bollywood, says Kunal Kohli
What is your look in Phir Se…? Its a very modern look, suits and waistcoats and other casual stuff too, but all very modern and slick, since there were many layers due to the fact we were shooting in winter in London, I had to be extra fit so that the layers didn’t make me look fat and in spite of having layers and wearing woolens I still looked fit.
How did you train for this look?
I went on a strict diet for 4 months before the shoot and started a serious workout regime that started from beginner going up to intermediary. Weight training and even intense cardio.
Why did you chose Rahul Bhatt? How was Rahul as a trainer?
I met Rahul at a function somewhere and he offered to train me, since I’d worked with his father Mahesh Bhatt years ago I was very comfortable with him. Rahul and me hit it off instantly and I like his style of training. He’s strict in the right ways and pushes you to achieve more in the gym in a very casual yet strict manner. before you know it you’re doing exercises and lifting weights you never thought possible. He makes it so much fun to work out that now I’m addicted to the gym and love training.
Describe your workout regime?
We work out 4 times a week for an hour, and concentrate a lot of weight training, Rahul concentrates on building your core so that you can lift more weights easily and progressively.
Will we see you flaunt a six or eight pack in this film?
Hahaha not at all, it’s a love story and doesn’t require a 6 pack.
Fitness for you is?
Now a way of life, that makes me feel disciplined in all
aspects of my life.
One thing you love/hate about working out?
I love that week on week I see a progress in my physique and even my mental health, there’s nothing I don’t like about working out.
Fittest actor in Bollywood according to you? Akshay Kumar for sure.
I don’t need to wait for a film’s release to donate for Nepal Akshay Kumar
Bollywood superstar has denied speculation that he would be donating the first day collection of his upcoming film ‘Gabbar Is Back’ for Nepal quake relief fund. Akshay, who shot his last release ‘Baby’ in the earthquake-affected country, said he cannot take such decisions as he is not the producer of the film. “Heard a rumour that I am donating #GabbarIsBack’s 1st day collections to the #NepalEarthquake victims. Firstly, I am not the producer so that’s not my call to make and more importantly I don’t need to wait for the film’s release to do my bit,” Akshay posted on Twitter. Produced by Sanjay Leela Bhansali and Viacom18 Motion Pictures and directed by Krish, the remake of the 2002 Tamil film ‘Ramanaa’ also features Shruti Haasan and Sunil Grover. The film will release this Friday. The 47-year-old actor also shared the link on his micro-blogging site for the support of Nepal, which was hit by the powerful earthquake, measuring 7.9 on Richter scale, last week and over 5,000 people were killed so far.
Saif Ali Khan signs three film deal with Ekta Kapoor Saif Ali Khan teams up with Ekta Kapoor for suspense, intrigue and more…
Things weren’t going that great for Saif Ali Khan. His films made no noise at the box office in last few months and the ghosts of his slapping past have resurrected to haunt him with court cases. But every cloud has a silver lining and it seems Saif has spotted one. Ekta Kapoor wants to make good of this classy actor. Saif has apparently signed a three-film deal with Ekta Kapoor. Rumour has it that Ekta’s film with Sujoy Ghosh, Devotion Of Suspect X, is one of the three films that Saif Ali Khan has been signed for. It is a detective thriller novel packed with action, emotion and some filmi suspense. If this turns out to be true, it would be a nice and wanted change to watch Saif Ali Khan in such a film. far removed from his done to death urban roles, this will be a breath of fresh air for him and his fans as well. With Ekta Kapoor as the producer and Sujoy as the director, Saif can be expected to present something completely different.
Revealed How Akshay Kumar stays fit without going to the gym! Akshay Kumar is a code of his own. He does not go to any Bollywood camp, he does not hang to tried-and tested formulas of success, he is radical and we adore his ruggedness and eagerness to try opposite things. This certainty oozes out when it comes to his aptness as well. Putting a conventional, gym slight aside, he does what is healthy and manages to flourish a ideally chiselled physique that conjunction looks synthetic nor unhealthy. We adore this fact about Akki and if we are wondering how he manages to do so, we have a answers for you. How Akshay stays fit
Akshay does not have any specific aptness trainers, he is his possess master who does what his heart desires. On occasions he stairs into a gym though does not hang to a sold set routine. On an bland basis, he believes in staying fit a healthy way. He’d rather stand a 50-storey building twice than do reps with dumbbells. The actor is a fan of any arrange of outside examination such as Parkour, freestyle workout, organic training, stone climbing, basket ball, and a likes. According to him, aptness needs to be practical not about carrying a massive physique with biceps, triceps and 6 packs. It’s some-more critical to eat right and practice any and each flesh . Akshay Kumar owes his singular opinion towards aptness to martial arts, quite Karate (he has a 6th grade black belt in Kuyukai Gojuryu Karate). He has also delved in other martial humanities like Muay Thai, a Thai kickboxing technique. In fact, he loves martial humanities so many he wants it enclosed in a propagandize curricula and considers it along with yoga to be a many finish forms of exercise.
Akshay’s dos and don’ts
The actor claims that he wakes adult during 4:30 am and goes to bed by 9 pm though fail. He avoids night shifts as
distant as possible. He does go to a gyms in a morning though says he has no set routine. Instead he usually ‘fools’ around for an hour and a half doing whatever his heart desires. In his possess words, ‘he does anything and all that inspires him and pushes his limits.’ He also does not validate 6-8-pack abs that many Bollywood actors flourish these days. According to him, ‘It takes a prolonged time to make abs. Tehelte tehelte nahi anathema jaate abs (It is not a cakewalk to get such abs).’ All that is shown onscreen competence not be genuine either. we don’t validate these six-pack or eight-pack abs. we trust in a healthy approach of progressing a good body.’ Read more… His latest process to strengthen his core is with a use of special beads he got from Singapore. They import about 2-3 kg and he uses them to condition his core. He also wears them around his neck and swings them around as partial of a exercise. These wooden beads are effective in blazing fat and toning a abdomen. Click here to know more. Read how a actor got fit for films like: Brothers Baby Boss
Food to be gaunt and mean
No practice regime is finish though a correct diet and Ak-
shay has one that is easy to follow. He sticks to normal home-cooked Indian food. He customarily starts his day with a complicated breakfast that comprises eggs, parathas and a extract or milkshake. Lunch comprises a dabba he brings from home customarily regular daal-roti-chawalsabzi. He’s a large fan of Gujrati cuisine and raids Paresh Rawal’s tiffin whenever they are sharpened together. Dinner’s customarily a light meal; soup, salad and chicken. What’s many critical is a fact that he has a unequivocally light cooking that doesn’t have any carbs. Whenever he feels inspired in-between dishes he snacks on dry fruits and indeed stays divided from tea and coffee. The actor’s diet is unequivocally engaging since dry fruits are not usually a ideal fillers though assistance quell diseases like diabetes and heart illness and even assist digestion. The actor claims he does have to spasmodic quell his honeyed tooth and usually has candy on Sundays. In fact he lets himself go on Sundays and cooking anything that comes his way. Chocolate cakes, gulab jamun and other Indian sweetmeats he has in moderation. On other days, he swears by his amla extract and follows a despotic diet. What we can unequivocally learn from his practice and diet regime is that it’s not about bulking adult though eating right and vital a healthy life. And looking during him during a age of 47 we can’t remonstrate how right he is.
Marriage is always on the cards The actress talks about life, kids – Renee and Alisah — and of course, her debut Bengali film that is up for release If there has been any actress who has defied the norms to chase her dreams and lived life on her own terms, it is Sushmita Sen. From deciding to become a single mother and adopting two girls to now making her debut in Bengali films with National Award-winning director Sreejit Mukherji’sNirbaak, Sushmita has done everything at her own pace. When we met her recently, the excited actress spoke about her film along with discussing everything under the sun.
You are a Bengali. Isn’t it surprising it took you so long to do a Bengali film? That’s true. I steered clear of it. The first time I read the script, it went over my head and then I re-read it. I realised that this man was brilliant and the screenplay had so much subtext. I am so used to Hindi commercial cinema where everything is spelt out pretty much. But I got a lot of like-minded people to advise me on the same and everyone was of the opinion that Sreejit was brilliant and that I had to work with him. It’s finally releasing in Kolkata on May 1 and in Mumbai on May 15. It helps that my director has made it a habit of winning National Awards, he just won it again for Chotushkone. I like his track record, he is such a brilliant guy that I couldn’t have asked for a better man to initiate my career in Bengali films. Has Hollywood never appealed to you? That’s not true. I’ve had my phases of being excited about something and then thinking that this doesn’t excite me anymore. I do multiple things. I run a company, I am a mother, I take off to Maldives to get myself certified for scuba diving. I got my daughter certified under junior paddy. Now these are things in life that are important to me. They are a part of my larger picture. I cannot be a part of a rut. That is something I have consciously chosen not to do. I give 100 per cent to everything that I am doing. The four best years of my child’s life while growing up, they don’t come back, three or four films not being done, is a very small price to pay. That for me, is my choice. You said you went to Maldives… I had always heard from people that it was a whole, new world underwater. Once you get under 10 metres and you start to look at the world, you realise that you are a nobody there. We went and had four dives, got certified. Did the theory. That was fun because my daughter and I studied from the same book for the exam. It was great fun. My younger daughter Alisah became an ace snorkeller at the age of five. She snorkelled in the Indian Ocean and when she grows up, I am going to show her those videos. I swam with white-tip sharks and saw so many creatures that people take years to see. I was lucky enough to have seen it on my fourth dive. I have done 20 metres. Renee has never been more excited
about anything else. Diving happens as buddies as two people have to dive together to watch each other. She became my buddy. And once you are underwater, all that you can hear is the sound of your oxygen regulator and you realise that you have never been more free in life. The visuals you see will change you forever. I am beginning to earmark diving spots across the world and I intend to keep taking both the kids so at a certain age, Alisah can also dive. Renee is 15 now. Does she have an idea as to what she wants to do? Everyday, I hear new versions of what she wants to do and now the latest thing is Liberal Arts. Her explanation, ‘That way I can indulge in my music as well. Because I am going to be an actress eventually’. She has been clear about that since she was a baby. She is like, ‘I love the camera’. And you are fine with her decision to become an actress? Oh yeah. I have always supported her but my only condition to her, was to get a degree. Everyone needs a shield that will protect them. And I say that repeatedly because the tendency is that my mother only did Class 12 and she did fine. But everyone has a different story. Films shouldn’t be a be-all and end-all. No one should be desperate, and really to be a creative person, you cannot let desperation set in. Because then you stop being creative. And she is creative. She has an absolutely fabulous voice and she has trained since she was two-and -a-half. She is very talented. I don’t want her to ever be at a stage where she says, ‘Ma, I don’t have anything else to do.’ So that is the deal — you get me a degree and then you can do whatever it is that you want. What about marriage? Was that never on the cards? I have always been a romantic. Since I was 16, I have had a very lovely notion of it. But like everything else in my life, I have never been in a hurry. I have always believed that it will happen at the right time. I believe that if you are born with a desire, it will manifest. But don’t keep conditions on it. Marriage will stay on the cards unless proven otherwise. In the meantime, I think I have led a very exciting life. Not once in my life have I felt, ‘Oh God, I didn’t get married’. But the truth was that I didn’t have a single moment free. To have a relationship, I have had to schedule it because I have a lot of things that I want to do. But would your daughters be happy if you choose to get married now? I have mentally prepared them. I have told them that just because it’s not happening, let’s not entirely give up on the idea. And don’t you dare come to me in three years and say, ‘Mum, I have found the guy’. That is just not happening. It is my turn first.
Mr X is my first family film! Emraan Hashmi
Emraan’s film usually are passed with an A certificate (for obvious reasons), but with his upcoming movie getting an U/A certificate, the actor is relieved Actor Emraan Hashmi, most of whose films have got an Acertificate from the censor board, is relieved that his soon-to-bereleased sci-fi thriller Mr X has got a U/A certificate as now he can show the film to his son and family. “I am more relieved than Vikram (Bhatt, the director) to get the U/A certificate for the film because I don’t have too many films with U/A certificate,” the 36-year-old
said during the promotion of the film. ”But this is the first film that I, without any stress, would show to my son and my family,” he added. Produced by Vishesh Films and directed by Vikram Bhatt, the film features Emraan as an invisible guy, who seeks revenge for all the wrong done to him. The actor also has some passionate and bold scenes with his co-star Amyra Dastur. However, he is happy that this film will have additional audiences due to the U/A certificate. ”I am really relieved that this film has certain additional audiences that Raaz
3D didn’t have when we released it two years back because of its erotic quotient and blood,” Emraan said. “I am looking forward to kind of tapping into that potentially new audience,” he added. Emraan is satisfied with the final outcome of the film and hopes the audience will love it. He says it will be a roller-coaster ride for the audience. ”It is an absolute delight. It’s like a roller-coaster ride with the invisible man, with the action sequences in 3D or even if you don’t see this in 3D,” said the actor, a couple of whose last films didn’t do well at the box office.
Arjun Rampal Workout Routine and Diet Tips
Arjun Rampal is one of the rare model-turned-actor who has managed to leave a mark in Bollywood. Despite being in the industry for years, he still has a worthy position. Though his debut film, Pyaar Ishq aur Mohabbat failed on the charts but his determination to succeed led him to play many different roles over the years. His first taste of true success came in the year 2006 when his role in the movie Don was widely appreciated. His performance in the films like Om Shanti Om and Rock On was also extraordinary. Also, the roles he played in films like Rajneeti and Satyagraha were loved by the masses and this led to a substantial increase in his fan following. Despite crossing the age of 40, Arjun’s looks and physique still make a lot of men envious of him and also boosts his female fan following. So how does he manage to look so good? Well, here’s theanswer. One Hour Rule: Arjun supports the one hour rule whereby he believes that everyone should spend at least one hour in a gym on a daily basis. He spends most of his time in doing cardio exercises that help him stay fit. He also advises his fans to eat heartily before going in for aworkout as doing a workout without eating a well balanced meal would take a toll on the body and one would simply be wasting time in the gym. Banana is one food item that he prefers eating before hitting the gym. Try Different Exercises: This 42 year old also believes that one should try different exercises in a gym. For this one should always be willing to try on new forms of exercises and work on the latest exercising equipments. You can even change the time span of everyworkout like do heavy exercises for half an hour one day and do light exercises for one and a half hour the next day. This thing would make sure that you don’t feel bored and monotonous from your exercise routine and also you would be eager to hit the gym every day. Don’t Push Too Hard: The Filmfare award winning actor also suggests that one should not stretch his or her body beyond a certain limit. He believes that everyone should know the capacity of his or her own body and should never push too far. This is so as such a thing would only lead to problems like dislocated joints, cramps in the body and lack of enthusiasm to work out in the future. So, all you people who wish to look like Arjun should keep in mind
that everyone has a different body type and so you should do the best for your body accordingly. Try New Things: The handsome hunk also believes that one should not restrict himself or herself to the gym only. He is always eager to participate in outdoor activities like swimming, cycling and running as it helps him stay fit on days when he doesn’t have time to hit the gym. The stunning actor is also open to learn new forms of exercises and has proven the same by learning yoga on the advice offered by his Ra.One movie co-actor Kareena Kapoor Khan. He also likes to practice karate for physical fitness as well as selfprotection. Play: Cricket, football and tennis are some of the favorite games of this Jabalpur born star. He plays them regularly and loves to compete with others. He believes that competition makes the game interesting and keeps one hooked. So if you are a fan of any sport, indulge in a game every now and then not only to keep the blood moving and shed off those extra calories but also to entertain yourself. Focus on Stamina: The National film award winner also has some advice for all the youngsters who are seeking to have a muscular body. He thinks that every person should concentrate on building up his or her stamina as it would be fruitful in the long run. There’s no point of having bulging muscles if you don’t have stamina to use them properly. Is there?
Arjun Rampal Diet Habits As far as the diet of this good looking actor is concerned, Rampal has the following to offer –-- Reduce Carbs to Look Lean: Whenever this actor needs to dawn a lean look for a project, he cuts down on the carbohydrate levels in his food. This low carb diet of his would consist of items rich in protein such as eggs, chicken, fish and non-starchy vegetables. Following this diet will not only help a person to reduce weight but would also help to bring about a change in the diet pattern. It’s a must try for you if you want to stop weight gain and this can simply be done by staying away from food items like sweets, fruits, pastas, breads and starchy vegetables. Healthy Breakfast: This versatile actor prefers to consume at least 8 boiled egg whites and some cereal in the morning. He likes to add a papaya if the mood strikes. A heavy breakfast like this would help you to feel full in the stomach the entire morning and you will not feel hungry until lunch time. It would also help you to avoid munching between the meals. Home Cooked Lunch: The dashing actor prefers to consume simple daal, roti and subzi in lunch. It not only fulfills his need for essential nutrients like vitamins, minerals and protein but also pampers his taste buds. If you are an Indian then you would surely appreciate the value of simple ghar ki bani dal sabji. It is tasty, fresh as well as well balanced. Simple Dinner: Most of the health freaks prefer to eat light at dinner and Arjun is no different. He just consumes a bowl of soup and simple salad. It keeps him away from midnight snacking which is a surefire way of gaining excess weight. If you have a habit of eating a heavy dinner then you should let go of it by reducing the amount of food items you eat. This should be done slowly and steadily (like eat 3 chapatis instead of 4 and then move on to 2 chapatis) as drastically reducing the amount of food you eat in dinner would hamper your health and increase your cravings for a midnight snack which you surely don’t want to indulge into.
I have no intimate scenes with Sunny Leone Though Ek Paheli Leela was promoted as an erotic film, his character in the film skips on the sex, says Bhanushali
He made his debut on TV as an actor with Dhoom Machao Dhoom, but it was with Kayamath that Jay Bhanushali gained fame. He became a household name as the host of Dance India Dance, which he anchored for several seasons. Last year, the actor made his film debut with the erotic thriller Hate Story 2, which was a hit. His next Desi Kattey didn’t click, but Jay chalks it as a learning experience and is looking forward to his upcoming film Ek Paheli Leela. And no, he has no issues with it being promoted as a Sunny Leone film. “Promotions are different, but if you see the film you will know I have a prominent screen space, with the story beginning and ending with me,” smiles Jay. Excerpts… What are your thoughts right now as your film is on the verge of releasing?
Scared! I have given my best to the film, but still there is some anxiety when the film is on the verge of release. First Hate Story 2 and now Ek Paheli Leela, aren’t you apprehensive of being typecast in the erotic genre?
It’s a pure coincidence that these films came my way. In any case, Ek Paheli Leela is not exactly an erotic film, it’s a musical thriller. Yes, Hate Story 2 fits into the erotic genre but in this film, my character has no erotic scenes. I am playing a lover boy, but I don’t have any intimate scenes with Sunny (Leone). The reason I did this film is because I got to play a role that I have never done before, even on TV. I play a musician, a singer from Mumbai who is happy-golucky. He gets disturbing dreams from his past life that involves a girl Leela and this confuses him. I can’t tell you too, except that it was a big challenge to play this role and I am glad I got the opportunity. Are you happy or disappointed that you have no intimate scenes with Sunny?
I am happy because I can emote better with facial expressions than my lips!
You didn’t have any apprehensions about doing a film with an adult star like Sunny?
Not at all, why should I? On the one hand, you talk about women empowerment and equal rights. Yes, Sunny has a
past, but I have no problem with that. It doesn’t affect me or matter to me. I am an actor and my job is to act. I listened to the story first and then they told me Sunny was in the film. But I had already said yes and didn’t think twice about it because I liked my character. As for Sunny, she is a very hard-working girl and sincere. She is eager to learn from every actor, which is very rare. You seem to be doing films that are heroineoriented…
Complete the sentence. Sex is…
It’s very nice.
What is the best thing about being a guy?
Guys get ready fast because they are naturally handsome! What is the worst thing about being a guy?
(Cuts in) Like I told you earlier, I can’t tell you much about my role, but the story starts with me and ends with me. Once you see the film, you’ll understand what I am saying. I have prominent screen space and it is Sunny and I, who have a lot to do in the film. Your film Desi Kattey, which did not have a female lead did not do well…
Yes, but I look at it positively. It postponed my success and I learnt a lot from the film, and how the whole industry functions. Now, I will be selective and choosy about my next outings. Will you continue to do TV?
Yes, I never left TV. In fact, I am proud to be a TV actor. You’ll see me anchoring at least one show a year. Several big film stars like Amitabh Bachchan, Salman Khan and Shah Rukh Khan are taking time out for TV because it gives a different kind of connection with the audience — it is almost one-to-one. What next?
I have been offered a few shows and film scripts. But only after Ek Paheli Leela is out, will I be able to take a call on what I will be doing next.
Girls get all the advantage. They have special seats in buses and even special trains.
Aren’t you and Mahii doing Nach Baliye 7 as challengers?
Which is the dumbest/weirdest pick up line used on you?
No, we shot for the promo because they wanted us to as we are last year’s winners. But we are not participating in it. Rapid fire with Jay Bhanushali What is your take on kissing on screen?
I don’t mind kissing, but I don’t want to be a serial-kisser! What does love mean to you?
It’s a beautiful feeling — having someone you can love. One has to experience it and not explain because it can get complicated.
‘Do you have a band-aid because I just scraped my knee falling for you.’ A girl tried it on me when I was at a party. If you were to spend a night with a celebrity who would it be?
Jennifer Lopez, she’s very hot!
T
he gorgeous and bubbly diva talks about life on the other side of the table – from celebrity to reporter Kritika Kamra is the perfect example of beauty with brains. She seems like a people pleaser but in reality she is quite frank when she has to be and that’s what I love about her. She has a great sense of fashion that is her own and not inspired from anyone, but most often she prefers ‘the sans’ make- up look. Kritika is extremely selective of her work, which is why when she comes back with a new show; it is always very different from what she has already done before. In a candid chat with us, Kritika spoke about her new show Reporters, the role media plays in her life and about her Perfectionist co-stars, Rajeev Khandelwal. Read the excerpts… Who decided the ‘specy look’ of yours in the show? I just wore it one day on shoot, Goldie (Behl) sir saw it and said it very cool and that I should use it in the show. So you will see me sporting spectacles on and off in Reporters.
I don’t know what is the big deal in a kiss Kritika Kamra
How important a role has media played in your life? I think they play a very important role. In every actor’s life media is what makes you or breaks you. Over the years, I have made several friends in the media some I meet on a regular basis. People learn about my characters through my work but media is the reason people know the real Kritika Kamra. You’ve taken a long break after Kuch Toh Log Kahenge. What
restrains you from doing shows on a regular basis? I believe in quality not quantity. I don’t want people to get bored seeing my face every day. And If I don’t take that break to do different things in life then I’ll get bored too. I need to keep reinventing. When you do a daily soap, you have to give it a long commitment, you work for almost 12-14 hours on the sets, unless I am excited about the show, how will I be able to do that? Now that you are on the other side of the table as a Reporter, how okay is it to be intrusive in someone’s personal life? Celebrity or not, everyone is entitled to have a personal life, but being a reporter now and otherwise I have come to terms that it happens, people have to get or create news. This is part of the game. I have learnt to deal with it, but something I still don’t agree with. How nervous are you about playing Ananya Kashyap? I am usually never nervous before a show, but this one is different. Journalists normally are very critical of your work and I am now playing one of them. So it is kinda scary. If they think something is not authentic then it means we are not doing well. I know every journalist will look at this show like that only. So I am hoping they are all a little lenient with the show. Have you modelled your character after any one in particular? No I did not. This is not a biopic so I didn’t really have to look into someone’s life that closely. I did not try to ape anyone personally also because I wanted people to accept Ananya Kashyap as reporter. Today journalists are nothing short of celebrities themselves. Everyone knows their style of reading news or making an ending, or their clothes. I really want the character to be something like that, completely original. I don’t want to be a ‘me too’. What beat will Ananya Kashyap cover? She will handle politics and social ‘coz that is her passion. When you see the first few episodes it will be clear. How much into politics are you personally? I follow political news diligently, since I am very active on twitter; whether you like it or not you will come to know what is going on. I am very interested in current affairs. What do you think about restrictions put on reporters? I am not a fan of censorship as such or of bans, but we all need selfcensorship within us. There are certain work ethics you need in every profession be it acting or journalism. If as an actor today I misbehave on the sets or try to throw my weight around, I may not be thrown out of the show, but tomorrow no one will want to work with me again. Will the show focus more on yellow journalism ‘coz everything seems much glamourised from the trailer we’ve seen so far? See we are not trying to pass any kind of social message with this show. It is the story of the people and what happens inside a news studio. We will be taking cases but the show is not going to be about them; it will be more about how
those cases affect us in our personal and professional life. It is not going to be an episodic show. You will get to see all our takes on it. As for the glamour bit I think news is fairly glamourous nowadays. What myths about journalism were broken after you took up the show? I did spend a few hours in a real news studio and learned how you take news, give the headline, and do voice overs, the edits. In fact I came to know what a beat is after I took up the show. I always wondered why news was always so sensationalised but now I realise that it is a cut throat industry, where you have to be more impactful than the other. What was the whole idea behind doing the kiss and slap promo of Reporters? In 30 seconds you have to convey your message. Like you make headlines catchy so people read it, we made a promo that was edgy and which would talk about our show with an attitude. The two day controversy around the kiss and slap was to get the promo across which came out two days later. We had no idea it would trend and people would start talking about it on twitter, I was following the live feed. If you forget a promo what is the point of doing it. Were you awkward with the whole kiss, considering this was your first onscreen kiss? No, not at all. My first question when the scene was narrated to me was if it was possible to do it. With so much censorship going around it was a valid question. Kiss is a very overrated thing on television. It is a very common thin g in cinema and in life, I don’t know what is the big hullaballoo over it, what’s the big deal in it? What do you think of your co-star Rajeev Khandelwal? I have watched his films, and shows he is my father’s favourite. He is a perfectionist… it is a luxury to work with someone who helps me elevate my performance.
I want to do a film where the hero gets to fight the villains in Kung-fu style and also gets to dance!
The Kai Po Che actor will return to the big screen with YRF’s latest film this week There is no denying the fact that Sushant Singh Rajput is talented but unlike most of his contemporaries he is a bit shy and doesn’t have opinion about everything. In fact, the Pavitra Rishta fame actor is still figuring out who he is. Yes, those are his exact words. When I recently caught up with the B-town hunk to talk about his upcoming release Detective Byomkesh Bakshy!, Sushant got candid and spoke about being a recluse and why we only get to see him during his film promotions. Though I had to wait for a while before I got to interview him, once we got talking, it was fun and I ended up learning a bit more about Sushant Singh Rajput – not the actor but the human being. Read on to know how our conversation turned out to be…. You’re wearing a dhoti in the entire film. Did you suffer any wardrobe malfunction while shooting? Nahi kabhi nahi hua aisa (smiles). Main expect kar raha tha ki aisa kuch ho…meri dhoti nikal jaye… kuch stories bane…but hua hi nahi. And when it actually happened, nobody saw it. So nothing happened really as such. I think its just that its dhoti, its Indian and its a period film is why people think its uncool. But its not. I can actually do a back flip and 180 degree split in a dhoti. And it can look really good. The film is set in the ’40s with World War II background, so what kind of research did you do for your role? Yes, I had to do research and one part of it was to know about the world in which this story is set in.
For example, if someone makes a film 20 years from now then one would have to know about internet, Twitter and all those things because we are so used to it. Kolkata in 1940s was very fascinating. It was the second most important city for the Britishers in the whole world after London. So why was it like that. International army was formed, Japanese invasion was there,American GI’s were there, Chinese were there, opium trade was there, underworld was there and it was very prominent. So everything was there and that’s why we had the opportunity of somebody as intelligent as Byomkesh to become Byomkesh and hence the story. So to understand all that, I needed to know the background of course. And I did that. How was it working with a filmmaker like Dibakar Banerjee who is a National Award winner and is known for making unconventional cinema? You know the most fascinating thing about Dibakar is he doesn’t communicate to his actors as to what he wants. And when I say that he never told me what to do doesn’t mean he never told me what to do. It was after a threshold, It was after I understood Kalkata, it was after I understood Bengali culture, it was after I understood what is the central idea of the film, it was then that we were told to shoot. It was then that he told me what not to do and that was because he wanted to get my honesty. I was improvising and thinking. And that’s why I feel that everything that I did in the film is so honest. In all my eight years of professional life, I never understood this skill of acting this much as I did while working with Dibakar Banerjee for six to eight months. Since there is so much buzz around the villain, do you worry that it may overpower your character in the film? There is immense buzz around the villain because Byomkesh himself doesn’t know who he is. And the villain has to be been prominent because bigger the villain, bigger the hero. Even the circumstances have to be complex because they are reason why a ordinary guy like Byomkesh becomes the hero of the film, So I am not worried about somebody else’s role being more prominent. If that goes with the idea of making a film then why not. I can do a ten minute role in a film while I have already done a YRF solo hero film then I don’t think these things matter to me. You’re last film PK was a multi-starrer and Shuddh Desi Romance had Parineeti Chopra who was popular by then. Bu Detective Byomkesh Bakshy! is riding on you. So is there any pressure? I can give you hundred examples of films that had the biggest stars from the industry and that didn’t do well. So I think
and I will always say that its the film which decides its fate. Its the way the director has made the film is what makes the actor a star and its not the other way round. So you can get the first few days of good opening because of the star but ultimately the fate of the film is depended on how well it has been made. If I have done my part well and if the film is interesting there is no reason why it shouldn’t work. All of your films so far have been hatke. Are you open to doing typical Bollywood masala entertainer or will we see you doing a dance film considering you’re a terrific dancer and the genre also now catching up in Bollywood? I really want so do such films. I am very open to it. I think one the films that I’ll be doing this year is slightly in the Bollywood entertaining zone. But the thing is every film should excite me. And I shouldn’t do a film just for the heck of it. It has to make some sense to me. As for dance films, I am a trained dancer. In fact, I was a dancer even before I was aware that I am an actor. Also, I am trained in martial arts. So I would love to do a film in which the hero is fighting the villains in this very cool Kung Fu way and then he also gets to dance. You have a huge fan following but you are never out there, talking to the media or interacting with the fans. We only get to see you or speak to you when your film is around the corner. Is it a conscious decision? Yes, because I don’t have anything to say otherwise. Right now this is very important because we have made a film which is so interesting and so honest that we want to create awareness about it and we want more and more people to know about it. And therefore this is required. Otherwise I don’t have many opinions. I am not a very interesting guy. Also, I am still trying to figure out who I am. So its only when you have a very strong sense of your own self that you want communicate your opinions to others but right now I am in the figuring stage. But when you look at Varun Dhawan or Sidharth Malhotra or Ranveer Singh, they are constantly out there making their presence felt even if its only on social media. Don’t you ever feel the need to do the same? I am on Twitter but such things never cross my mind because I am in this industry to figure out what I want and also to express my inner most feelings. And that is what exactly what I will do if I ever join any other social media platform. I just want to get to know myself sightly better. But you said in one of your interviews that its hard for you to express yourself in real life. Why so? Of course it is. I think most of the times what we do is what we want to be perceived as. Everybody of us. We have a very vague feeling of who we are. Most of the time we have conflicts understanding why we are behaving the way we are because we behave in a certain manner so that we get perceived in that certain manner. We can’r actually describe the way we are. So yes, that’s the answer for it. If Byomkesh Bakshy had to solve a mystery in Bollywood that is – why Salman Khan is still single, how would you go about that? I will actually call him and ask him (smiles). That would be the most obvious way to get the answer. And if that doesn’t work the I will work my way through it. I have never thought about it but I think I know why he is single till now but I won’t tell you. There have been reports that you’ll be shooting for two films together that is MS Dhno biopic and Paani in the coming months… I will never shoot for two films together. This is never happening. I will shoot for one film and when I get done, there will be another film. And its again its a conscious decision because how will you believe that I am somebody else, I don’t believe in it. So for that I need to do one film at a time. I don’t how other people do it but this could be my limitation. I can’t play two different characters at the same time.
Karanvir Bohra finally reveals the reason why he really quit Qubool Hai The actor who just quit the popular ZEE TV show talks to us about leavingQubool Hai, working with Surbhi Jyoti aka Sanam, his crazy fans and more It took me a while to finally get in touch with Karanvir Bohra and I’ve been trying ever since the news came out. Finally last night Karanvir answered my call and decided to spend a few minutes answering my questions with complete sincerity and honesty. In spite of being on vacation in Goa with his wife Teejay Sidhu and Surbh Jyoti, he obliged to my endless questions. Excerpts from the interview… The show had finally come back on track after the numerous exits and change in lead heroes, why did you quit Qubool Hai? At that time I had signed up for one season, I had no idea they were going to take a leap. I felt storywise Aahil did not fit in the scene anymore. If a role doesn’t excite me too much, then there is no point in staying. I have always maintained that in all my shows. The role has to be exciting, that’s one of the main reasons why I took up Qubool Hai in the first place. The show needed a major come back, it was really down, TRPs weren’t that great and that was a challenge for me. Did Gul Khan (producer) try to convince you to stay back? Yes she did, more than Gul it was Surbhi who was persistent on me staying back. She was very emotional that I was
leaving. Then reading all the petitions and requests online for me to stay back was also overwhelming. It made me feel that people really loved my work. At this point nothing will work out, but I haven’t burnt any bridges it was all done very amicable. With God’s grace if I do get an opportunity to work with them again I’d gladly do it. How good or bad was the story line of season 3? See I always felt the story was about Aahil and Sanam. The new story is interesting but Aahil will be in India and Sanam in Pakistan – they wouldn’t come together, the physical proximity was not there and that’s how the show loses its charm. They are the lead pair of the show and are carrying Qubool Hai on their shoulders, so they need to be together. And that probably was not happening it was too different, it needed to culminate together. Did you know there was this movement and petition on Change.org to bring you back on the show? OMG! Yes, I am so overwhelmed with that. There are so many people messaging me on Twitter asking me not to quit. There was this 13 year old girl who lost her mental balance over it and her folks wanted me to talk to her. As actors we just do our jobs but the difference we make to them is unbelievable; they take these things so seriously. In fact, I want to tell them personally that this is just a fictional show. We bring life to the role because that is our job as actors. I will come back in another show and do something else. I love it that they love us, but they shouldn’t be so emotional about this ‘coz then I feel hurt. We are in Goa right now, so many have come up to us and said we love you Aahil please don’t leave. I feel like shit. I have never seen anyone file a petition for an actor leaving – that was new. Tell us one thing that you will miss about Qubool Hai. For sure I will miss working with Surbhi a lot. She is like a part of my family; more than friend now. Khala Khalu, Latif, I’ll miss all the fun I’ve had with them. We’d play Uno and dumb charades on the sets when we diodn’t have a call. So many times Teejay would come on the sets and play games with all of us. My professional and personal life became one; I will miss this bond a lot. What about Surbhi will you miss the most? Very rarely do you make such friends, I really cherish that friendship. There is no vested interest and there is no agenda. I won’t miss her friendship ‘coz I am not leaving and going away from the country. She is close to me and Teejay, she is a dear friend and everyone needs that in this industry
My scenes in Fast and Furious 7 are only with Paul Walker The actor talks about his Hollywood debut, Fast & Furious 7…
Ali Fazal is one among the few lucky actors to grab his ticket to Hollywood. The 28-year old star, who made his Bollywood debut with a minimal appearance in 3 Idiots, will now be seen playing apivotal role in Fast & Furious 7. Certainly one of the biggest Hollywood break he could have asked for. I got a chance to have an exclusive chat with this young champ, who not only revealed about his experience working in the West but also how he treasures sharing his scenes with the late Paul Walker. Read on to find out more… You are among the few Bollywood celebs to grab a chance in Hollywood. How did you land a role in Fast & Furious 7? It happened right before Bobby Jasoos started. I was up in the mountains trekking and I randomly get a call from my agent in America saying record something and send it across. So I sent it and within a week I was put through Fast & Furious 7. It was that sudden. But I am glad I got to shoot with Paul Walker. My scenes are only with him. Talking about my cameo, I can’t really disclose much but I can tell you that I am not playing an Indian and that required a lot of work. (Pauses) Oh! I wish I could tell you more but Universal will sue me! The problem is they have gone too hush-hush on it, mainly after Paul Walker’s death. But I think that’s not really working for them.
Having worked with a legendary director like James Wan, share something more about your experience. I think professionally these guys were amazing. I have never worked with a team like this before. And like you said, James Wan is himself a legend. He has made The Conjuring, Insidious, Saw and suddenly he is coming up with Fast & Furious. So that was something which was quite an experience. Their action sequences, their technology, the way they think, execute is all so superior that I got to observe, learn and absorb a lot of things. They are brilliant! Now that you have worked with a Hollywood franchise, how different is Hollywood from Bollywood? See I don’t want to compare because we have a lot of good content in Bollywood. But the problem lies with the technology and that is something that you can’t really compare. Rather you have to accept the fact that we are 15-20years behind Hollywood, when it comes to technology. Let me give you an instance. In Fast & Furious 7, Paul Walker could only shoot about 60 percent of the film. So what happens to the rest of 40 percent? They can’t just discontinue his role because he is no more, right? So basically, Paul was brought back and I shot my scene without him but with him. They exploited all the gene therapy, graphics and animation to create Paul Walker which is on an all together another level. So it’ll be illogical to draw parallels with Hollywood. Indian actors who try a hand at Hollywood are usually criticised for their blink-and-miss performance. What do you have to say on that? Good you asked me this. See I’ll give you a straight example. In my own entry in Bollywood, I played a small role in 3 Idiots. It was my first film but it left an impact. What I am trying to say is Hollywood is a different industry all together. So we Indians go there, do our small part and come back. But the problem arrives when we come back and boast that it’s my film. I am not taking names but I am just saying; now that is wrong. I am accepting that I am doing a cameo and I am excited because I know what I did and I had the best time working with such a great team. Do you plan to settle in Hollywood like how we have Frieda Pinto and Dev Patel? No not really. I am open to it but Bollywood will always remain the first love of my life. I am here to stay and I am not going anywhere. Any more Hollywood films aligned after Fast & Furious 7? No. I haven’t signed any other film in Hollywood. I currently have two films in Bollywood; one with Pooja Bhatt and the other with Mahesh Bhatt. Lastly, your favorite Hollywood stars? Christain Bale, Al Pacino and Marlon Brando.
I think Yuvraj Singh should go on Khatron Ke Khialdi next season The man has a funny bone that will leave you in splits – it’s a wonder how the other contestants of Khatron Ke Khiladi ever managed to control their laughter around him
Ashish Chowdhry may have had a gazillion flops in Bollywood, but TV is turning to be very lucky for the actor. After the success Ek Mutthi Aasmaan, the actor has now won Khatron Ke Khiladi 6title. We caught up with the actor to talk to him about his big win, his next plan and some interesting facts about the dishy man. Read excerpts from the interview… What is the one fear that you over came after Khatron Ke Khiladi? I overcame the fear of losing and my dilemma with cockroaches. What was the toughest stunt on the show for you? I think it was the airplane one ‘coz that was the one time where my life was in someone else’s hand and not mine.
I have no right to risk or lose my life for a trophy. If something happened to me I would be leaving my family behind which would be unfair. But Rohit sir convinced me and guaranteed that nothing will go wrong and that’s how I agreed to do the stunt. Who would you recommend for the show in the next season? Me again! I think Yuvraj Singh should go for the show, he has fought death and come back; he is a fighter. I would also like Zayyed Khan to try this; actually all the boys from my movie Fight Club should go for this in the next season. Am sure they would be great at it. Who was your toughest contender in the show? Everyone was excellent at something or the other. In swimming it was Sagarika, no one could touch her in a water stunt, she was like a mermaid. Rakesh was amazing in endurance and no one could challenge him on that. Chang was amazing in all the creepy crawlies. All the girls were amazing – Asha Negi was phenomenal. The show is more about mental strength. Who was your best partner in the stunts? Hussain and I had a great bond; we could read each other very well. Throughout the trip we ate together, went out together and spent a lot of time together. Now that KKK 6 is over will you be heading back to movies or do you intend to continue with television? Yes, moving to TV was a very calculated move and I am really glad I did it. Fiction is still my first love and something I know I can do best. I wanted my previous show to go on for a long time, but it went wrong because the story did not move as it was promised to me, I was very disappointed. But that doesn’t mean I am giving up on TV. Have you struck any deal with Colors? Colors has become like family and I love the team. If they have something for me then I will definitely consider it. What about movies? If something really spectacular comes my way then I will definitely do it, but Ia m not big enough to get something like that. Do you have any movies planned with Rohit Shetty? Rohit is like a mentor and friend; he helped a lot through all the stunts. Frankly we’ve never discussed work and I don’t think I will ever bring it up either. The moment you try to extract work from friends the relationship goes sour, which is not something I want.
How Sonam Kapoor looks so gorgeous: Learn from her make-up artist Namrata Soni
If you are wondering how Sonam Kapoor gets her look right every time, you now have the answer. Her make-up artist Namrata Soni, who has worked with Sonam for most her movies and other mediaappearances including the recent Cannes Film Festival, tells us her make-up mantras. We know Sonam looks gorgeous but what do you do to enhance her beauty? What is the secret of her looking perfect almost always? I always prep Sonam’s skin before applying any make-up. It’s important to moisturize, apply eye cream and sunscreen before you apply anything else and that is what I do for Sonam’s skin as well. What make-up do you suggest for everyday wear? For everyday make-up, one can use a BB cream, tinted moisturizer with sunblock, compact powder for the T-zone, a check tint, waterproof mascara and bright lip colours this season. According to you, what are the five must-haves in one’s makeup cabinet? For me, the list goes like this: • Mascara • Lash curler • Blush • Kajal pencil • A red lipstick Could you tell us what should be one’s pre and post make-up routine? Prepping the skin is very important before make-up and removing every speck of it before you sleep is equally important too. Also, apply a night cream and an eye cream before going to bed. Could you give us some make-up tips? • Always curl your lashes before wearing mascara as they make your eyes look bigger. • Clean your make-up brushes and sponges every 15 days. • Don’t keep cosmetics for more than 2 years they have definitely expired. • Always wear sunscreen even if you are at home.
I always wanted to know how real these Bhagat who is gearing up to reality shows are judge a dance reality show,
talks about his penchant to try out new things, his desire to write a dance-based film and more First he burst into the scene as an author with books like One Night @ The Call Centre and Five Point Someone, which were adapted into films. In fact, almost all have been turned into movies and with Half Girlfriend, Chetan Bhagat himself has turned producer. And now, the writer has surprised many by donning the hat of a judge for a dance reality show Nach Baliye 7, this despite being a non-dancer. How would you rate yourself as a dancer?
I am not a good dancer at all. But several books of mine have been made into films and they have songs and dances. I know the importance
Who according to you is the best dancer in the industry– male and female?
Hrithik (Roshan) is one of the best we have. Amongst females, though she is not performing so much any more, Madhuri (Dixit) was amazing.
Which is the one song that makes you want to get up and dance? I don’t dance much, but I have songs on my gym playlist. I enjoy songs like Subah Hone Na De, London Thumakda and being a Punjabi, a lot of Punjabi songs including those of Honey Singh’s.
Any dance film that you like?
Footloose, that was part of my growing up years. We haven’t had that many dance films, because it is not easy. You need someone who understands dance and films. I would love to write a dance film, this show will help me in that!
What prompted you to take up judging the dance reality show Nach Baliye 7?
There are several reasons. Firstly, I like to try something new and Nach Baliye this time is completely revamped. It is more than a dance show. Also, I have always wanted my writing to be a means of change or influence the society. I write about different things – national and economic issues in my columns – and want to grow my reach. Besides, I am getting more involved in films and since song and dance is part of them, I am getting familiar with the form through the show. Another thing is I always wanted to know how real these reality shows are. I am entering the arena as a bit of a sceptic, which you will see in the first episode. Also, the format of the show has changed and I will be focussing on the relationship of the couple.
How tough will you be as a judge on a scale of one to 10?
Eight, I think. I am not going to keep saying mind-blowing every time, but only if the performance deserves it. As a writer I know the power of words and I see them being tossed around loosely.
Are you going to be like Simon Cowell?
I will be Chetan Bhagat. Whatever I have done so far in my writing or scripts I never tried to copy anyone. Simon is an iconic judge, a brand in himself. I will leave an impact in the show. I am not here to take it lightly but make a difference. I am charged up about it. Though I was nervous in the beginning, I have started enjoying it.
How is your equation with co-judges Preity Zinta and Marzi Pestonji?
They are very different. Marzi looks at technical aspects of dance, if the feet are placed correctly or not, etc. Preity sees the expressions and the chemistry of the couple. I look at what the couple is like, the act and the storyline. The one thing common between us is we love to talk, crack jokes and laugh a lot. We have our little skirmishes too. I have my disagreements with Preity, who is always charming and sweet. I feel she needs to be tough. Marzi, on the other hand, is too technical. Sometimes when you hit a six you don’t need to go into right or wrong of it. A six is a six, no matter what!

6 ways to store your cold cuts the right way Cold cuts are pre-cooked or marinated meat that come in handy to prepare a non-vegetarian meal in minutes. They are the best options for quick bites like sandwiches and burgers or other such easy preparations. However, like every food item cold cuts also have a limited shelf-life and can perish soon if not stored properly. So if you are someone who loves to have cold-cuts stocked in your kitchen and make a meal out of it in minutes here are few tips you need to follow: 1. Store them in air-tight containers: Cold cuts whether cooked or pre-cooked usually come in a vacuum packaging from the store. Once you open the pack, there are chances of contamination as it comes in contact with oxygen. If you aren’t going to use the entire pack make sure you store the rest of the unused meat in an air-tight container. This will reduce the chances of oxygenation and further contamination. Moreover, keeping your cold cuts out in open for too long can also increase the changes of bacterial contamination due to the changes in temperature. Here is how your kitchen container could make you sick. 2. Wrap them in aluminium foils: In case you don’t have an airtight container the next best thing would be to wrap the cold cuts in aluminium foils tightly. Wrap them in such a way that there isn’t any chance of air getting to the meat. Fold all the corners twice. Remember cold cuts lose their freshness once the packaging is opened so remember to use the extra meat within three days of storing it. Here are four ways in which our foods get contaminated before they reach our plate. 3. Store them in meat sections: Your refrigerator would have a certain section to store meat and cold cuts. Make it a point to put the meat in that particular section because those areas are set to a particular temperature which will keep the meat from going rancid. In case you don’t have a separate meat section store it in the freezer or keep it at the back end of the refrigerator shelf where it can stay cold. Here are five tips to keep the fridge well organised. 4. Don’t add extra preservatives: Packed cold cuts (precooked or marinated) are loaded with preservatives, mostly
sodium nitrate which helps to prevent bacterial contamination. However, the flipside is that the nitrate can combine with the amines in the meat to produce more carcinogenic compounds that could lead to oral or stomach cancer, suggest studies. It is best to use them before their expiry date. In case if you add more preservatives like lemon juice, vinegar or salt, chances are your cold cuts would be prone to more chemical reactions than otherwise. Here is why you should consume your packaged foods before they reach their expiry date. 5. Preserve raw meat correctly: If you want to preserve raw meat make sure you wash them properly first and clean the blood, dirt and grime from it. It is a good practice. Raw blood on your meat just ensures that you meat remain unclean for a longer period of time in the freezer whose consequences might not be good for your health. So clean your raw poultry and drain the water well. Next, store it in an airtight container or a steel vessel but make sure it stays covered. You can also store it in a sealable plastic bag and keep it in the freezer. Preferably use the stored raw meat within two days of storage. Here are 13 simple cooking hacks to make your food healthier. 6. Storing after marinating: Most of the time marination of raw meat is done to make it easier to cook the next day. However, marinating meat the right way is essential in this case. The first step is to wash the raw poultry thoroughly to avoid contamination during marination. Add to your meat curd, vinegar, lemon juice or condiments with which you would like to marinate it and mix well. If you want to store it avoid sprinkling salt. This is because when thawed, salt could melt and release water which could change the succulent texture of your meat. Instead add salt only if you know you would use it within 30 minutes of marination. Else, keep the marinated meat in an airtight container and place it at the back of your refrigerator shelf, given that you would use it the next day or store it in your freezer for prolonged storage. It is best not to store marinated meat beyond two days.

Quinoa One of the biggest misconceptions about carbs is that is that they cause you to gain weight. Its actually not the carbs that make you gain weight but the type of carbs that do.. Quinoa is high in fiber and protein which will make you feel full. Unlike other grains, it is low on the glycemic index; this means that it doesn’t raise your blood sugar which in turn keeps you from craving sugar and carbs.
Vegetables If you thought you are going to shed fat without vegetables, you’re wrong. Vegetables are packed with amazing nutrition and fiber to keep you full. It is suggested that you eat at least 2-3 cups of vegetables every day. Barbell Curl v/s Cable Curl Shiney Ahuja & Aamir Ali RS is going to discuss with you barbell curls versus cable curls. And the main difference between barbell curls versus cable curls, is gravity. And what it means is that, what makes a barbell curl effective, is the force of gravity pulling the barbell down toward the ground. So, as you’re doing the curl, if you’re starting down here. Once you start to lift the bar, it gets slightly heavier, as the bar goes further out form your body. And once you get to this full-on 90 degrees, that’s when gravity is most prevalent. And that’s when you get the most resistance in the barbell and in the curl. And once you get past this 90 degree angle, it starts to get slowly easier, and easier and easier. Until you get to the finish, to the top of the curl. And again, in the negative, once you start down, it’s going to get progressively harder. Until you reach that 90 degree angle, when it’s at it’s peak. And of course, after that 90 degree angle, it’s going to get slightly easier and all the way down, it’ll get easier and easier as you go. So, that’s the main difference between a barbell curl versus a cable curl. Reason being, is that when you’re executing a cable curl, since the angle of the weight is going straight up and straight down. It’ being affected by gravity the entire time. So, while you’re doing your range of motion, you’re going to have the same amount of resistance from the beginning, all the way through, to the end, and all the way back, down. So, the resistance will never change using a cable curl, as opposed to using a barbell curl. But the resistance will change, depending on the gravitational pull of the curl. So, in effect, what is best to use when it comes to cable curls versus barbell curls. Well, a lot of body builders will tell you that they prefer a barbell curl, only because it’s a free
weight. And of course, when you’re using free weights, it’s also going to hit the stabilizer muscles and the core. And plus, you can stack loads of weight onto a barbell. Not to mention that a barbell or an Olympic barbell, will weigh 45 pounds at the start. So, it can go very, very heavy. So, if you want to lift heavy, you want get bigger arms, quicker. You want to stimulate more muscle fiber, activate the motor units, use the barbells. But if you want to change your grip, change some attachments, and get that constant resistance the whole time, use the cables. For me, I like to change it up and all good workouts have a lot of variety of movements. So, I would start with the barbells and then, go to the cables, or vice versa, to change it up. Vipul Gupta performing an abdominal workout with POWER WHEEL II its one of the best movement to work on your core and abs. How to use Preacher Curl Bench properly ? • First, in starting position, sit down on the Preacher Bench with your feet against the lower floor bar of the bench. Adjust the height of the seat so that your underarms can rest comfortably on the arm pad. Then place both arms on the arm pad and grab the barbell with your hands spaced at shoulder width. • Second, without rising from your seat, curl the bar upward until your arms are pointing diagonally at the ceiling. You do not need to curl your arms all the way up. A little over halfway should be enough. Then, pause at this position for a second and slowly lower the bar down to the starting position. • Some tips that you must know when you do this exercise : • Make sure that your arms remain glued to the pad and that your elbows do not slide. • Do not rise off. If you want to do it, you need to reduce weight. • Do not curl your wrist as this can put undue strain on them • Make sure if you use your biceps alone to lift the bar. • Exhale on the way up, inhale on the way down Benefits as follow: Who doesn’t want to have that great looking abs, right? that 4-packs! 6-packs! or even 8-packs!! Ravjeet Singh warming up with Skipping Rope Keep in mind that, this is not just the ordinary abs wheel that you have seen before in your nearest supermarket, because this abs wheel is like a… it’s like an abs roller on steroid, that’s how I’ll describe it to my friends. You don’t simply name something “steroid” if they are small, right? That is exactly the reason why I think it is an ab wheel on steroid. It is larger than the usual abs rollers, and the crazy thing is that, it even has foot straps with it that you can lock your feet in it! It’s made to fit your feet and hands, therefore, you can do so much exercises with it, compare to the normal abs wheel, which you can only hold it with your hands and do the Roll-Outs, and has no foot straps. I believe it is the large wheel and foot straps that are making this ab roller stand out and being unique than the others. Power Wheel II is suitable for anyone, from beginner to expert. Skipping Rope: Benefits as follows.. Jumping rope is an effective cardio exercise that works your arms, legs, and core, helps strengthen your bones, and improves balance. The main muscles that you’re working are your calves but you activate a lot more muscle than you may think. Using a jump rope during exercise is increased cardiovascular fitness. Your cardiovascular system involves your heart and the arteries and veins that bring blood and oxygen to and from the heart and the rest of the body--and therefore, by improving the ability of this system to work, you will not only have a greater ability to perform your daily tasks, but you will become less breathless during exercise as well. While strength training can increase muscle tone, it has been found that low to moderate, sustainable exercises such as walking, biking, or jumping rope are the best way to improve the quality of your cardiovascular system.
