While his debut flick has opened well at box office and people are loving his new avatar, there are certain do’s and don’ts which Kapil Sharma should follow to make the most of his career From being a stand up comedian at The Great Indian laughter Challenge to a popular TV personality to a film star, Kapil Sharma has come a long way in the entertainment industry. After winning hearts all over the world with his show Comedy Nights With Kapil, Kapil Sharma has made an impressive debut with Abbas Mustan’s Kis Kisko Pyaar Karoon. Despite being panned by critics, KKPK has gone off to a great start at box office, which goes to show how popular Kapil is among the masses. Now that he has become a film actor, who has shown promise, all eyes will be on how Kapil treads the road to stardom from now on. While the actor has impeccable comic timing, he has show that he is good in pulling off dramatic scenes too. But today, we would concentrate on the things which Kapil should
Post Kis Kisko Pyaar Karoon, here are 5 things Kapil Sharma should absolutely AVOID onscreen!
never do onscreen: Song and dance Though songs and dance are essential part of any Bollywood flick, Kapil Sharma should totally avoid shaking his leg on the dance floor. In KKPK, not only did Kapil look ridiculous trying to pull off simple dance steps, his expressions suggested that he is not at all comfortable grooving to songs. So, he should not cave into the pressure that every Bollywood star should know how to dance. Instead, he should focus on the things he knows best ie comedy and drama. Getting typecast Labelling actors in a certain category has been an age old issue that has plagued Bollywood. Sunny Leone , who has been typecast as the sexy bombshell, is still struggling to break free from that mould. Even though Govinda was great with emotional scenes, he was still considered for only comic roles for the majority of his career. So if Kapil really wants his filmi career to fly, then he should avoid getting stuck in the rut of comic roles and explore different genres of films. Experimenting something new and failing is still acceptable, but getting typecast as the funny man is probably the worst thing that can happen to Kapil’s career. Action flicks If you have seen Kapil’s acting in KKPK or have seen his gigs in CNWK, you would agree that being funny is his thing. But do you know what isn’t his thing? Action. I just can’t fathom Kapil bashing goons and making them fly like Salman does. Neither can I imagine Kapil pulling off daredevil stunts like Akshay Kumar. Kapil should not buckle under the pressure of doing massy, macho roles as every hero in the industry (even Imran Khan) tries his hand on action at some point of time. After seeing him as cheeky fellow doing slapstick comedy, it would look odd and unintentionally funny if does an action film. So, he better stick to his strengths and leave villain bashing roles for muscle men like Salman and Akshay.
Playing Sidekick Kapil Sharma is famous for his spontaneous jibes that he takes at people in his show CNWK. Be it the characters of his shows, the audience or the celebs, Kapil doesn’t spare anyone. From being a person of charismatic and commanding presence, Kapil should not stoop to the level of playing side kicks to other heroes. Now that he has established his name as a comedian and as movie star, he should avoid playing the funny, goofy hero’s best friend ( an area which Arshad Warsi has huge expertise in). Aiming for 6 pack abs There is this compulsion in actors these days to sport rock hard abs and chiseled physique. From established superstars to gen next stars everyone is in the race to flaunt their 6 packs and 8 packs and what not. But Kapil should never try anything of this sort. While it is not wrong to stay fit, the idea of seeing Kapil shirtless is not every appealing. Besides, Kapil is common man’s hero and should not try to ape these stars, and enter in the rat race of shirtlessness.
Kapil Sharma wanted Deepika Padukone to play Elli Avram’s role in Kis Kisko Pyaar Karoon!
Everyone who is familiar with Kapil Sharma’s Comedy Nights knows about his crazy infatuation with Deepika Padukone. Kapil’s colleagues from Comedy Nights giggle about how Ranveer Singh is pissed with Kapil who carries his Deepika torch to unbearable heights of glorification. Sources reveal was keen that Deepika and no other leading lady play his love interest in his debut film Kis Kisko Pyaar Karoon. But Deepika was busy with Bajirao Mastani and Tamasha. “Directors Abbas-Mastan who had worked with Deepika in Race 2 and shared a cordial rapport with her, did approach her. But she declined. More than her schedules, the role hardly justified Deepika’s presence. There are four girls with Kapil in the film. Kapil wanted Deepika to play his girlfriend. So they signed on Eli Avaram for Kapil’s girlfriend’s role.” But here’s the catch. Eli has been named Deepika in the film. “That’s Kapil’s way of incorporating his favourite actress into his debut film. Kapil has told us he had to have Deepika in his first film. She’s not there in person. But very much present in spirit,” says a friend of Kapil.
Kis Kisko Pyaar Karoon rules the box-office Kis Kisko Pyaar Karoon ruled the roost this weekend as it ran to packed houses across the board. Benefiting from the holiday on Friday, the film opened to an average of 35 per cent in the early shows and amassed Ra 10.15 crore, which was above expectation. The film held well on Saturday despite a 20 per cent drop in collections, earning Rs 8.60 crore. Collections bounced back on Sunday and the film added Rs 9.90 crore to the kitty. The first weekend total for the Kapil Sharma starrer stands at Rs 28.65 crore, which is huge and the film has scope to earn through the week
The comedian is happy that Bollywood doesn’t stereotype actors Comedian Kapil Sharma says he didn’t expect the overwhelming response that he has received for his Bollywood debut “Kis Kisko Pyaar Karoon”. ”It feels good when your efforts are appreciated. I was not expecting such a positive response,” the “Comedy Nights With Kapil” hero said at a special screening of his debut film here. “Thanks to everybody for sending so much love and blessings. ‘Kis Kisko Pyaar Karoon‘ commenced on a very good note and hopefully it will carry on a high note in coming weeks,” added Kapil, who has a fan following of the young and old alike. Directed by Abbas-Mustan, “Kis Kisko Pyaar Karoon” also stars Arbaaz Khan, Elli Avram, Varun Sharma, Amrita Puri, Simran Kaur Mundi and Manjari Phadnis. According to trade analyst Taran Adarsh, the film has grossed Rs.18.75 crore on its first two days. ”Should have a Rs.30 cr [+/-] opening weekend in India, which is PHENOMENAL,” he conjectured on Twitter. Meanwhile, Kapil is also happy that Bollywood no longer stereotypes an actor. Talking about the changing facade of Hindi films, he said: “Gone are the days when there was a myth that a comedian cannot play a hero. Today actors want to portray diverse characters. They don’t want to get typecast as a romantic hero only and many actors nowadays like to play negative characters.” “So, the perception of people has changed and it’s a good thing.”
Kapil Sharma overwhelmed by Kis Kisko Pyaar Karoon’s positive response!
I was destined to do the Marathi film Ek Albela “Vidya Balan” Vidya on getting into character to play yesteryear actress Geeta Bali Vidya Balan, who will be seen playing Geeta Bali in a special appearance in Marathi film, Ek Albela, which follows Bhagwan Dada’s film career as an actor and director. Wanna play Geeta? She says she got the role through make-up artiste Vidyadhar Bhatte, who she has worked with in the past (on Parineeta, Munnabhai and Bobby Jasoos), “During Bobby Jasoos, I told him that I wanted to act in a Marathi film. So he called me and said there’s a Marathi film on the life of Bhagwan Dada and it’s a special appearance and they wanted to know if I would like to play Geeta Bali. The moment he said Geeta Bali, I was interested and said, ‘Okay, let me meet them’. I liked what I heard in the director’s 15-minute narration. It’s fun even if you’re doing a special appearance!” Dressing concerns “Subarna Ray Chaudhuri is the costume designer of the film, though I did have my own inputs, like I do for every character. I got involved with the styling because firstly, you are recreating a film that people are familiar with and secondly playing a star who is very loved. I loved the period film per se, the way women dressed in the past, and each one had an individual style statement, identity and personality.” Doing it all! The actress sizzles as Geeta in Shola Jo Bhadke for the Marathi film. Vidya laughs “We have tried to recreate the
flavour of that era. Choreographer Stanley D’Costa, with whom I did the Marathi song Mala Jau De (from Ferrari Ki Sawari) and his wife appreciated my performance. I find Geeta Bali extremely charming, the effervescence in her is so arresting… I loved her song Shaam Dhale Khidki Tale. They had told me that I would be dancing Shola Jo Bhadke and Bholi Soorat, so I said what about Shaam Dhale? They told me that if I wanted to do it, I could do a bit of it. And they shot a part of the song for me because I wanted it, for my sake! I love that song!” The larger picture Vidya was happy with the outcome. “For the songs, we had references, but none for scenes. It was nice to recreate the ambience of that era. We had to refer to Geeta Bali’s song videos to get in to the character. These are little things but all add up to the larger picture. This was Bhagwan Dada’s big film, he invested all he had in Albela, so this is the highlight of his career. Unfortunately, this is the only film of his that we can watch because his other films got burnt at the archives I think.” Happy connection Vidya feels she was destined to act in Ek Albela. “I don’t know whether Geeta Bali is as known amongst the younger generation now. I have watched Albela and have the poster in my Juhu home. Siddharth had 60-70 film posters in his house before we got married and when we got married and were doing up the house Albela was the only film poster that I picked up and said, ‘Let’s put it up as it’s a happy poster.’ And what a coincidence that today I am doing the MarathiAlbela! I really think I was meant to do it.”
Shah Rukh Khan’s emotional tweet will make you want to HUG your dad right away! The King of Khans misses his father on the latter’s 35th death anniversary… We all know Shah Rukh Khan is very vocal about his emotion and has often taken to social media to express himself. From just another thought to cute pics of his kids to a new look that he’s sporting, we’ve seen them all. However, we were really touched and saddened by his tweet today. SRK remembered his father Meer Taj Mohammed Khan on his 35th death anniversary and took to Twitter to share a heart warming post in memory of his father.
moments of remembrance. 35 years since I saw my Dad.” The 49-year-old actor misses his dad and his words just make us realise how we forget these small moments with our parents in our fast paced lives.
SRK is currently shooting for Rohit Shetty’s Dilwale in Hyderabad, after which he will work onRaees and Fan simultaneously. Dilwale will see him reuniting with Kajol after a gap of five years. The film also stars Varun Dhawan, Kriti Sanon, Johnny Lever, Boman Irani, Kabir Bedi and Varun Sharma among others and is The tweeted, “Years accumulate and slated to hit the theatres on December 18. our wounds turn into water, and reflect the unlikely glimmer of happiness in
Akshay Kumar: Actors who say they are in an intense space for a character and can’t snap out of it are fake The actor on comedy as a genre, his upcoming films, his style of working, and much more… After a long time, Akshay Kumar has returned to comedy with his upcoming romcom, Singh Is Bliing. Directed by Prabhu Dheva, the film stars British import, Amy Jackson opposite Akshay and also stars Lara Dutta and Kay Kay Menon in pivotal roles. In a recent conversation with BollywoodLife, the actor revealed a little about his upcoming romcom, his future projects, his take on comedy as a genre and a lot more. Here are excerpts from the wonderful chat we had… After a series of serious films, you are finally back to comedy. How excited are you… Actually for about 2- 2 and a half years I’ve just been doing very serious roles and trying to pass on some message or the other. Now I’ve finally got a chance to do some commercial cinema. At the same time I got this opportunity to work on Housefull 3 for which I’m shooting in London, where I just go wild and wild and more wild. So I’m very excited. And then I come back to Airliftthen I have
another film with Neeraj Pandey, Rustom. So it is nice to actually breathe and then do something different everytime. Isn’t it mentally draining to switch characters? Not at all! Listen, I want to tell you something I’m not one of those actors who goes all intense for their characters claiming that they are in a space. I think that is all fake. Let’s talk about the real, practical thing… we get a nice vanity van which is air conditioned, has fruits and dryfruits in it, we get to work with lovely ladies. So it is NOT taxing. And if someone tells you something of this sort, just tell yourself while noting it down that he’s lying. Do you think of yourself as a trendsetter to feature as a comedian as well as a hero in a film? Earlier there used to be special people for doing comedy. Actually it started with Mr Amitabh Bachchan. He did it long back with his film, Desh Premi, I still remember. He was the first actor to start doing the hero’s role as well as what Mehmood Sahab used to do. He’s responsible for bringing the combination and giving it to people. And even
Kishore Kumar Sahab for that matter. There are very few people who did it, I just followed it. I love it, it’s great to do comedy and it’s very difficult to do comedy; but unfortunately a comic hero, a guy who can do comedy, doesn’t get his due in the industry. Because we look down at it. Unless you do romance, or cry or scream, you don’t get a best actor award. If you’re making people laugh, people take it as a buffoonery. I don’t get why… it is very sad. Don’t you think the comedians are getting sidelined? No they also have a lot of work. There are around 180 films that are made every year, there are a lot of shows happening. Then there is comedy happening in ads also now and there are TV shows. The number of comedians from the industry has reduced though, like there was Johnny Lever before… Johnny Lever is still there. Then there is also Paresh Rawal. You name it and they are all there. If there aren’t any new comedians in the industry, there are TV shows happening, like Comedy Nights With Kapil and a few more that have started recently. You’ve had three releases this year so far, while Baby and Gabbar performed well at the box office, Brothers failed to do so. How do you take it? I take it very well (laughs). I see Brothers as an average film, but I’m very proud of it because it has one of the most fantastic fights and also because it is emotional and very close to my heart since it is about Martial Arts and self-defense. It’s about two brothers coming together and I’d say I introduced something new to the audience and I’m proud of it. You are the only superstar who comes out with four films a year. Do you think a shorter gap between your films is affecting their box office performance? Yes I know I release a film after every 3-4 months, but I make sure that every character is very different, I make sure I make it is a particular amount, I make sure I’m producing it so whatever is going to happen’, I’m going to earn or I’m going to lose. Nobody else has to go through it. And I’m very happy if a Baby does well or if a Gabbar Is Back does well or if a Brothers does not do well. But don’t you think if you release, let’s say a Baby and a Gabbar this year and a Brothers and another film
next year, the box office collections won’t be affected much? Why? I’ve been doing this for the past 25 years and I feel there is nothing wrong with it as long as the characters are all different. You know I met a light-man the other day who said to me, ‘Aapka haath jodke dhanyawaad karta hun ke aap saal bhar film karte ho, kaam reheta hai. Aaj kal koi do saal mein ek film kar raha hai koi kuch nahi kar raha hai.’Then I asked my makeup guy and he told me that he earns the most compared to his colleagues in the industry. So do we see a problem with it? Everybody is here to earn money and if I enter Forbes is there a problem with you? So where is the problem? It is a very simple procedure – if you make a film in Rs 5 and you earn Rs 8, so it is still a profit, right? You are not paying from your pocket. So when there is profit toh kisi ki sherwani mein kya pareshani hai. Are you planning to make more films on Mixed Martial Arts? Well at the moment I’m doing my MMA tournament in Su-
rat and I’m very thankful to the Chief Minister of Gujarat for being present at the tournament. I want to take my MMA and the tournament all over India and I want to show to people that it is very essential to learn martial arts and have self-defense in your life.
We got to see another side of Twinkle at her book launch. How cool are you with that side of her? That side of her is not a surprise for me. I see that everyday.
How was it working with Lara who’s been on a break for a very long time? I’m glad we got an opportunity to work together again and it was great.
She also mentioned that she’s not as politically correct as you are… She’s absolutely right about that. I’m politically very correct, but I want to be like that.
We heard that you called her for the role… No I didn’t call her, I requested her to come and be a part of our film. The whole story is that Amy doesn’t know how to speak Hindi and I don’t know how to speak English and our romance has started. But there is a communication gap. She can’t understand me and I can’t get a word of what she says, so we call for a translator and Lara is the translator. The whole film is about how she messes up my love story. Because if the translator is messing things up, then the whole story is going to go haywire and that’s what this beautiful love story is all about. Then there are fights and Amy is fighting men… I have to mention that she is one of the best fighters as far as actresses go. She’s done a wonderful job.
You are known for your comic timings in films, but in real life, who between you and Twinkle would you say has a better sense of humour? I would say Twinkle has a much better sense of humour. Mine is a very different kind of humour. Mine is very Punjabi humour and hers is very blunt. It’s direct, in your face. So does she enjoy the humour in your films? Well, it all depends. Some films she does, some films she doesn’t. Sometimes she enjoys slapstick comedy too.
There are so many star kids and people with Godfathers in the industry. You and SRK are the only ones who You are probably the only Bollywood actor who’s tried have made it so big without any inside influence… so many variations with stunts and action. Do we see Well, everybody makes it on their own merit. It would be you experimenting with something in Singh Is Bliing as very wrong on my part to say that they don’t. Just because well? you are an actor’s son, doesn’t mean that you haven’t Ah! I’ve worked with a lion. That is a BIG stunt, not that made it on your own terms and conditions. Everybody has I’m fighting with him, but he’s still sitting with me in my to work hard. You and I, both know of many actors who car, just behind me. You won’t believe there was this are actors’ sons and they could not make a mark at all. In incident that happened… He saw his own reflection in the this industry nobody can survive without working hard, no windscreen and thought there was another lion. He then hit matter who it is. the wind screen so hard that it went flying. And I ran away out of the car at top speed. The guy there told me ‘Are Recently, Tiger Shroff claimed that you inspired him to aap toh khiladi ho’ and I was like, ‘khiladi gaya tel lene.’ take up martial arts and take fitness so seriously. How Later, he kept saying that the lion won’t do anything but do feel about that? I was just not ready to go close to the wild thing. I didn’t I feel very good and I’m very grateful. Tiger, I know, also want that I should have a garlanded photograph of mine loves martial arts, he loves Parkour and indulges himself at the beginning of the film saying the film is dedicated to in physical fitness. It is important to do this. And he’s one me. of the guys I know, who’s very much healthy and doesn’t indulge himself in products which a lot of youngsters take Your film with Neeraj Pandey, Rustom, is clashing as a shortcut to a great body. I’m very happy that he does with Mohenjo Daro, what do you have to say about the what he does. Hats off to him! clash? I think this answer you should ask the producer of the film. I’m not producing that film.
Priyanka Chopra’s Quantico will be very successful! “Irrfan Khan” Read on to what else the Jazbaa actor has to say about Priyanka Chopra’sQuantico…
Irrfan Khan has worked in various Hollywood films, the most recent one being Jurassic World. He has been one of those successful Bollywood actors who have made it big in Hollywood too. A few days back, Priyanka Chopra made her International TV debut with Quantico and we all were impressed. So, when we met up with the Jazbaa actor, we had to ask him what he felt about Priyanka’s new venture. Irrfan said, “I have not seen Quantico, but I have heard that the reports are great. The TRP is also fantastic and I am sure this season will be very successful. It’s not just me and Priyanka who have made it big in Hollywood, many people will find their space in Hollywood if they have talent. I can’t forgive the rapper for destroying every possible melodic memory we have of this epic track Rahul Roy strumming a guitar. Anu Agarwal in a lovely dress looking all coy. If you were a 90’skid like me then Dheere Dheere Se track from the 1990 blockbuster Aashiqui would be forever etched on you mind and soul. There is no way you could get away from hearing this track back in the day. The album sold a zillion copies, the film went on to become a blockbuster, and every boy in town wanted to flip his hair like Rahul and romance Anu to the tune of this simple yet hauntingly melodic song. Cut to 2015. Yo Yo Honey Singh decides to give the song his spin and make it current. While the rapper has swag and usually gets his crafty lyrics right, this time he stands guilty of ruining one of my favourite songs from the 90’’s. I don’t think Nadeem Shravan would approve of this either. I mean the video looks neat, more than just neat. It’s lavish, shot in Turkey with T-Series head honcho Bhushan Kumar pumping in loads of money and making sure his leads - Hrithik Roshan and Sonam Kapoor look like a zillion bucks (and yes they do!). My beef is not with the modernisation of the track, but how the basic hook and melody is missing. While Honey Singh’s rap is just about okay, the whole song looks more like an advertorial for a product Hrithik and Sonam might endorse and less as a youthful love song that talks about the innocence of a beating heart. How long before Honey decides to smuggle Nadeem Shravan’s entire catalogue (the best music of the 90’s) and give it his spin? Dear Honey, stick to the smart rhymes and slick limericks of vodka and bottles and leave the 90’s music alone
Dear Yo Yo Honey Singh, you have blood on your hands for massacring Dheere Dheere Se from Aashiqui
Salman Khan is the actual Hero of Bollywood! “Athiya Shetty”
Suneil Shetty’s little girl talks about her experience of the film, her equation with Sooraj, Salman Khan’s impact and much more… Athiya Shetty is all set to make her dream debut in Hero this week and before the film’s release Athiya talks to BollywoodLife exclusively about her sharing the screen space with Sooraj Pancholi, Salman Khan as a producer amongst a lot of other things…
How and what do you feel about your dream debut Hero? Yes, it’s a dream debut for me. Nikhil Advani has directed it and Salman Khan has produced it, so I think I couldn’t have asked for a better platform. Nikhil sir has been my most favourite director, ever since I understood the concept of a director. I loved Kal Ho Naa Ho. When I was younger, I conned my parents into thinking I have a number (eye power) just to wear the Naina glasses. I used to say ‘Mom, I really have a number. I cannot see, I cannot see.’ Finally, she got me those fake glasses and I used to wear them every day to school for a year. And Salman Khan is Salman Khan, he’s the biggest super star we have in our country and besides that he is most amazing person. So to have a mentor like him, I feel extremely blessed. How was your experience while shooting the film? My experience has only been positive. As a newcomer, you always stumble and fall. You have many problems, but you overcome them and look at the bigger picture. The bigger picture has been positive for me and I’ve learnt so much. I have made mistakes, but I understood and learnt things. I am thankful that I had such an amazing experience.
So how is Athiya Shetty as a person? Athiya Shetty as a person is very quiet. I am a bit shy, I am not that out going. But once I get to know that person, then you’ve had it, I am quite crazy. I wish I was more like Radha because sometimes I feel that I am too realistic; I take things too seriously and take stress very easily. You and Sooraj Pancholi share great chemistry onscreen. So tell us how close are you both in real life? Sooraj and I are extremely close in real life. People usually think that they are two new comers, they have to be in love and they must be dating. But, we are not dating. We are very very close friends and we share this very honest and true friendship. I know he will always be there for me and he knows I will always be there for him. I am happy that we got so close in the process of this film. We were sailing in the same boat and we have gone through a lot in this film, from getting yelled at to crying together and to what not, so that’s why we are so close to one another. I love him as a person and that’s how it emulates on to the screen as well because we are so comfortable with each other and we are such great friends, so there is no awkwardness between and so it shows onscreen. You are Suneil Shetty’s daughter, so you have acting in your blood and you were bound to follow in your father’s footsteps. But, when did you decide that you wanted to act? I always wanted to act. Ever since I was three I was dancing to Madhuri Dixit ma’am’s Ek Do Teen, then tying sarees and doing Kajol’s
Sooraj Hua Madham, imitating Poo in front of the mirror, so I always wanted to act and I was obsessed with movies. I used to see a movie every Friday. In school, I did a lot of theatre and drama in school, so acting has always been a part of me. I am a very creative person.
that I want to act. She told Salman sir about me and they were looking for a girl opposite Sooraj for Hero. As you know, Salman sir and my dad are extremely close and he spoke to my dad and that’s how it happened. Literally the next minute I was on the sets.
How did you come across Hero? Hero came across very randomly. I used to go to a gym in Bandra and Salman sir’s sister saw me in the gym and we started speaking. She asked me what I want to do and I mentioned
This film has action, romance and drama. So if you had to choose one particular genre out of the three, which would you want to do? It has action, it has romance, it has dance, it has drama, it has passion,
it has everything. I don’t know exactly which genre I want to work in currently. I want to do something that is emotionally driven, where my character has some emotional upheaval, not a tragedy but something else. It could be a love story too. Right now I actually want to work with really good directors as I need to learn a lot of things. A good director will be able to teach me a lot, so right now my main focus is to work with a great director, who’ll be able to take me ahead in terms of my craft. The film is titled Hero, so tell us who is the current Hero of the industry? Salman Khan, I don’t think there is a doubt about that.
such comparisons? Nobody can match up to Sonam Is there anything that you learnt Kapoor. She is amazing and she is from Salman Khan? on a different league. She is one of I have learnt so many things from the most beautiful actresses we have Salman sir. He is such a special in our generation right now. She can person, such a special human being carry anything off, looking so that everybody just falls in love with beautiful effortlessly. I laugh when him. He is so kind-hearted. The original film was very successful, so what is your expectations from this film? Right now, I don’t know how well it will do at the box office. I also don’t know how my career will unfold from here, but I am just hoping to be accepted right now. Have you got any other film offers? Sidharth Malhotra confesses he is highly ambitious!
Sidharth Malhotra on his upcoming films and the way ahead Sidharth Malhotra is back on the sets. The actor, whose last film released a month ago, has began shooting for Baar Baar Dekho with Katrina Kaif in London. He bulked up for Brothers, but has now shed the extra kilos to fit into his role in Nitya Mehra’s next. Here he talks about his chameleon act, about being ambitious and the way ahead. Read on.. How ambitious are you on a scale of one to 10? Thirteen! I don’t come across as ambitious as people confuse ambition as the norm. I feel that there isn’t one way to reach that level. There are so many different ways. I am very ambitious. About me, my career, my family, my lifestyle, settling in… Do you plan ahead? I won’t say I have a plan…because that’s limited to what comes your way. My plan is to adapt to different genres and not be stuck or true to one. I think you’ve already managed to do that. That’s my attempt. I have done two back-to-back intense films like Ek Villain and Brothers. Now I want to do softer bits. I am doing two softer films like Kapoor And Sons and Baar Baar Dekho. So, to be approached for both genres
(and both successful); hopefully, I think that is a way of getting in or having a longer successful career. So yes, I keep those things in mind. I would be lying if I say that I am not ambitious. How are you going about fulfilling your ambitions I have a checklist now. I have become more aware. I want to work with actors and directors who will push me. Like I have learnt so much from Karan Malhotra. It’s amazing how a director can transform an actor. Karan gets full credit for my look in Brothers. To have that conviction that ‘Nahi yaar, we will change your face, we will give you this full beard…’ I have a bucket list of directors I want to work with Imtiaz Ali, Raju Hirani and Zoya Akhtar. I’d love to work with them in the near future. Are you a director’s actor? I feel so. You can see that I have changed and transformed for every film. Shakun Batra was giving an interview recently and he brought it up. He said, ‘Sid treats his physicality first and that makes it easy in a frame.’ In Brothers, I look like a fighter and Akshay’s younger brother. For Kapoor and Sons, I can’t look the same. I worked to look like my character. I play the youngest in the family, and there is slight comedy. My first cheat is to change myself physically because if I am thinking about my biceps and my chest in that scene, I’ll never be able to do this kind of role with conviction.
Debutante Sooraj Pancholi talks about his Hero experience and much more… Sooraj Pancholi made his dream debut alongside Athiya Shetty in Hero last Friday, but it didn’t seem that the star kid was nervous at all. The calm yet funny actor talk about his experience while shooting the film, his equation with co-star Athiya Shetty, how Salman Khangifted him this film as a birthday gift and much more… Now that the film is out, how are you feeling? I feel amazing, it’s actually a really great feeling. everyday something new is coming up, life has become very busy and I am not getting time for myself. But, it’s good becuase I always wanted to be that busy. So, it’s been great. How has your experience been while filming Hero? It was really tough because it was very new for both me and Athiya. We trained really hard for the film, but the entire shoot was very fun. I got to learn a lot of new things everyday. Working with Nikhil sir is a dream come true. He has made such good films with the biggest stars. We learnt a lot from him also. The entire locations and everything was beautiful. We shot in Manali for about a month, we shot in Romania too, so it was an amazing experience. Tell us about your character and how did you prepare for this role? My character is called Sooraj Kaushik. In the original film, Jackie sir’s name was Jackie, so in this film they have kept my name as Sooraj to maintain that continuity. I haven’t tried to play anyone else but me. In the second half, if you see, it’s completely me. In the first half also I am myself, but in real life I don’t get to do so much action. The script is the same and we worked on the same script. It’s the same Hero that Jackie sir did, but it is more modernised. That film was 3 hours long, this film is 2 hours long. So, there are a few ups and downs in the characters, but there is more focus on Athiya and me.
I haven’t learnt anything from Salman Khan as an actor!
“Sooraj Pancholi”
How has your experience been with your co-star Athiya Shetty? Athiya has been a great person to work with. We started this journey together, so there was a learning process for us everyday. Even today we are learning, today also we get a yelling from Nikhil sir. Athiya is a fabulous actress and I am really happy that I got to work with a newcomer like Athiya. If I was working with an established actress,
that person wouldn’t have helped me as much as Athiya did in my scenes. Athiya knows the ups and downs in my life and vice versa.

Even if I had not wanted to be an actor, I would still want to be fit. I hit the gym when I was 14 years old and my biggest inspiration for that is Sylvester Stallone. I want to do an action film like Rambo or Rocky and a boxing film. We’ve also heard that you have signed your second film with Kumar Mangat. Is it true? No, no. It’s not true. I haven’t even met him. The original Hero film was iconic, so what are your expectations out of this one? The only thing I am expecting is acceptance. I am not looking at numbers as that is not my job for now and I don’t think that is my job for the future as well. An actor has to act and the rest depends on the other people. I want to be accepted in Bollywood, that’s it.
Is Salman Khan upset with his father Salim Khan?
The actor gets reminded of something he isn’t too happy about… Salman Khan‘s passion to promote Sooraj Pancholi and Athiya Shetty is really inspiring. You would think it is because he was a star kid too and he got the help of his influential father Salim who is Indian Cinema’s one of the noted scriptwriters. Well, you are gravely wrong. By his own admission, the actor revealed that his father never stepped up for him when he was starting out as an actor! Salman Khan is a self made man despite being from a filmi family that’s because his father never recommended his name to any producer. Talking to a daily, he said that Salim Khan would recommend Sunny Deol, Sanjay Dutt or Kumar Gaurav’s names to producers but never his. When he asked his father for the reason, he was told that all these producers who come to him never ask him for his son. They should see it in him for them to cast him. Salman rued that such a thing never happened to him and so, he went out looking for work. Behind that awesome superstar lies a struggle that hardly anyone knows. He didn’t get the advantage of being a star kid and makes us respect this man even more.

Kangana Ranaut is one of the best talents we’ve had in a long time, says award winning lyricist Prasoon Joshi
The lyricist – dialogue writer – screenplay writer talks about his journey, his take on abusive and disrespectful lyrics, his favorites and much more… National Award and Padma Shree winner, Prasoon Joshi, is the person we are to thank for giving Bollywood some really beautiful songs like Tare Zameen Par title track, Maa (Tare Zameen Par), Arziyaan (Delhi 6), Chand Sifarish (Fanna), Bhaag Milkha Bhaag title track and many many more. Prasoon who turned dialogue writer with Rang De Basanti, celebrates his 44th birthday today and we took the opportunity to talk to the man about his journey so far. While exclusively speaking with BollywoodLife, Prasoon also spoke about his take on the current music scenario, his fav actor, his fav songs and much more. Read excerpts from the interview… You wrote your first book when you were 17 and then you did BSc and Physics. Why didn’t you take up literature instead?
Literature was never a viable option in terms of making a living. So like any other parents, mine too were keener on Science and Engineering. I wouldn’t say they forced me but they inspired me more to take up Science than literature. So I did my BSc, then I did my masters and then my MBA. And then I got into Advertising industry, but parallelly I continued my journey as a writer, which you’ll find common among most writers. So how did you get into the industry? Fortunately for me, I came into a profession where I could still write and think of ideas and be in the same space as a writer would like to be. Simultaneously, I continued writing and I stumbled upon writing for albums and earlier bands. There was this one band, Silk Route back in the 90s if you remember… I wrote their first album, Boondhein and Dooba Dooba Reheta Hun song was part of that album. Then I wrote a few albums for Shubha Mudgal. Subsequently I came
down to Mumbai for advertising and met some very good people like Aamir Khan who inspired me to be a part of the film industry and I got some of my initial films like Hum Tum, Fanna and Rang De Bansanti. With the last I also became a dialogue writer and continued till last year with Bhaag Milkha Bhaag where I scripted the film and people have liked my work. Do you believe that your work is usually appreciated because you do it with a passion and not just for money? I’m doing my work for the right reasons. If I have something to say, something to explore, money is fine, it will come. I know money is important but if you do the right things, you will find sustenance. It’s your challenge to write the right thing. Sometimes people ask me why do you have to work so hard on a song; it can become a hit overnight without all the effort. Who cares what word should come first or if it is the right grammar or the
right expression… who cares? Like in Masti ki Pathshala the words that I’ve used ‘natta ye sanata hai, dekho lambu shor hai’; now calling silence a dwarf are expressions which probably people won’t even notice or say oh what an expression.’ I frankly don’t bother about that. I think my challenge is to face the mirror and face myself and do whatever the best I could have done. It is said that the “overnight hits are very short lived. What do you think? I don’t think that’s true. Who ever said devil dies easy? I believe that sometimes some song that is very substandard lives on for a longer time than it should. Like I said, devils have a long life. But just because they live longer that does not change the fact that they are devils. Please continue… You know sometimes there are songs which are very compromising in the way they portray women or they are abusive. They instigate people to disrespect someone – a particular cast or religion- I would not like that to be celebrated. See you can write satire, you can always have your point of view. You can have disagreements but you can’t have disrespect. These two are different things. When you insult or ill-treat someone, I think that is where you take someone for granted. If you want to show your disagreement or your point of view, it is absolutely fine, you should. Your point of view can be very different from the world – you can criticize a religion, you can criticize the best of criticism. But that’ll have a vantage point, an argument. But it’s not abusive. You are not shouting on top of your voice. So the intent is not wrong. But if disrespect is your intent, I have a problem with that. Would you count insult comedies as disrespect?
Again the intent. A while ago, a lot of people had been offended by Lata Mangeshkar being mimicked at the Radio Mirchi Music Awards. Are you one of them? I don’t think the intent of the mimics was to insult her. And I don’t think people will dare to insult someone as legendary as Lata Mangeshkar. If disrespect was an intent then I condemn it, but I don’t think that was the intent. Sometimes we become too touchy about things and lose our sense of humour. But again, as much as you have a right to joke, the person who is your subject has the right to be offended. It can’t be a one way traffic. What is your take on remixes? I’m not fundamentally against remixes like many people. So what goes on in the making of a particular song’s lyrics – what preparation, what frame of mind? Let’s say Tare Zameen Par and Havan Karenge for example… See Havan Karenge is a different situation, Tare Zameen Par is a different subject. You need to do a lot of introspection and a lot of study of the subject. You need to know what situation you are writing for. Tare Zameen Par was about children, their life, the education system. It’s was a very different challenge to write and to portray that I needed to read a lot about children. Havan Karenge is a more youth and college based song. You want to write fun stuff for youngsters and what they do, so need to find the right metaphors and phrases which will give that feeling. What are words – a way of sharing a certain kind of energy, a certain kind of mind space with people. So those are very different spaces and these spaces and the subject decide which part of the mind will get activated. As a writer there are a lot of spaces in you. I think the difference between a writer and others
is that a writer always keeps different states of themselves alive- the child is alive, at the same time a youngster is alive and sometimes even an elderly person. So you have to tap into that side of you which is required to writeyoue need to tap into the child you, the romantic you, the angry you. The challenge is to e able to co-exist with all the feelings. Is it difficult for you to snap out of a phase? Yes it is difficult. You are completely immersed in that and then you have to come out of that state and write something radically different. It takes some time, because it’s not a machine that can be controlled by changing a gear. You either take a break, or meet people who can make you fresh or some other way. So yes, it is a challenge to snap out of it. That’s why while writing dialogues, I write the dialogues of one character first and then move on to the next or sometimes I write is phase wise – like in Bhaag Milka Bhaag, I wrote the college days first then the army days and so on. Do you think writing and creating is more of a task than acting it out? No, not at all. I’ve seen Aamir working. I know how he works; they will also get into studying of that character, that genre and they will immerse themselves in it. When it comes to like-mindedness in terms of being the character, which actor from the industry matched your frequency? I think Aamir comes closest to the way I think. Irrfan Khan too I feel is immensely talented or Nawazuddin Siddiqui I’d like to say. I think Kangana Ranaut as an actress, is exceptional. One of the best talents we’ve had in a long time, I’d say is Kangana. Though she has a long way to go, I really admire her work.
Read on to find out why… Kangana Ranaut has been on a roll since Queen and Tanu Weds Manu Returns, she has been approached by many filmmakers for their films and she is also being called the next big thing. So, Kangana is looking for perfection in everything she takes up. In this quest, she has been rumoured to have sat for the promo edits and movie edits of Katti Batti. However, it seems that Kangana is NOT happy with the makers as she feels the title is too childish and the promo hasn’t been cut properly. As Kangana revealed in an interview today, “I think the title of the film Katti Batti is too childish. The film starts with a love story but the later part is very grey and dark. I wanted the film to have a darker title as the title does not exactly convey the truth. It is just supporting the marketing strategy of the film, which is of showing the film as a bubbly love story. I also wanted a promo to be cut in which we showed the darker part of the film, but the makers decided to go with this one and I was fine.” With a few days to go, it remains to be seen if the makers give out another promo of Katti Batti.
The title of the film Katti Batti is too childish, I wanted it to be darker!
“Kangana Ranaut”
Confirmed! Kangana Ranaut to play a cop in Nikhil Advani’s next From romcom to thriller – the duo is all set to team up once again Kangana Ranaut is currently busy with the promotions of her upcoming Nikhil Advani directorial,Katti Batti which stars Imran Khan opposite Kangana. The leads have been up and about touring the country for the same. But the free-spirited Kangana (as is her character in Katti Batti) is ready to team up with Nikhil once again… this time as a cop. Reportedly, a few days ago, the two were having a random conversation about the hit thriller, The Girl With A Dragon Tattoo (film) when Nikhil, who had a script in mind, proposed that Kangana and he should work on a thriller together. As it would happen, Kangana was instantly impressed by the script and agreed to take it up. Nikhil confirmed the news to a leading daily saying that he’s really excited to work with her again. He said, “There is little that I think she (Kangana) can’t do, and I’m hoping to challenge her with this new role.” The yet-to-be titled film will see Kangana essaying the role of a serious police officer and is expected to go on floor by early next year.
In an exclusive conversation with BollywoodLife, the young designer opens up about her fashion choices, her wedding, Bollywood’s style game and much more…. There’s no denying to the fact Masaba Gupta has quickly created a brand for herself. She is one of the leading fashion designers in the industry today which we believe has not only evolved through her quirky sense of style but also her signature prints that look so young and vibrant. Her latest creation ‘On your mark’ at the Lakme Fashion Week 2015 was again a hit with Sooraj Pancholi walking the ramp as her showstopper. Wanting to know more about her creations and inspiration, I got in touch with this gorgeous designer recently. And the revelations that she’s made is for you to read right here below…. Where did you get this idea of creating such signature prints? I think I’ve always as a child been interested in picking up objects and making an art out of that. Be it the palm, the camera, the cow- it was just the things that I saw in daily life. This time, we took the horse as our motive, that was the main inspiration. And then we took inspiration and general techniques from various artists like Victor and Rolf. We basically wanted to put together a
Kangana Ranaut is the ultimate fashionista of Bollywood, declares Masaba Gupta! show that was wearable. I feel like the pieces need to be as wearable as possible. So we took inspiration from brush strokes, water colours, wash paintings and created a canvas for the prints on that.
How would you define trends? I don’t think much about trends. I know trends are something that world over people are following but the best trend for you is the one that works for you on your body. And I feel you shouldn’t blindly follow trends because there are times when something can easily go wrong if you can’t carry it off well. So according to me, trends are important to set a tone for fashion in the world but they are not the end of everything. What are the new trends you noticed at this year’s winter/festive season? We see lemon yellow making a huge entry and laid back norm-core style is still in the running. What is the first thing you consider before styling someone? Styling for me is using that person’s natural design aesthetic and just building on it. I don’t want to ever create a product of mine on another person. So its very important to understand their sensibility their likes/dislikes, what they are comfortable in and then design something suitable for them. Out of all the other actors, what made you pick Sooraj Pancholi as your show stopper this season? Why not Sooraj? If you seen all my shows you would have noticed my show stoppers have always been fresh, young faces except for Shilpa. Alia walked for me when I think she was just two films old and now Sooraj is half a film old. I like people who symbolise Gen-next and that’s what I think Sooraj does. I wanted someone who has a great new energy. I think Sooraj fits into this collection as he symbolises strength, dynamism, One Bollywood celeb you want to dress? Aishwarya Rai Bachchan One celeb who you think needs to experiment with his/ her style ASAP? I rather think there are people who need to tone it down a bit. Everyone is experimenting way too much. So there’s no one in particular. Not that I can think of. Everyone has their own style these days. Who according to you is the ultimate fashionista of Bollywood? Has to be Kangana Ranaut!
Your fashion inspiration? My mom(Neena Gupta). She has always been by inspiration. One fashion hack you swear by? Black. It always works. You’re feeling fat, you’re feeling bloated, you’re feeling gloomy – just wear black! Whose collection did you like the best at the LFW this year? Honestly, I dunno what the hell is going on (Laughs). And its a conscious decision. I like to keep myself away, do by own business and get off. But I will say this I saw one of Kallol Datta’s presentation photos on Instagram and he’s really amazing. He comes out whenever he wants to, does this one little show and goes- I really admire him for that. Your November wedding is around the corner. We want to know who are you wearing on this big day? I have no clue. I don’t even know where am I getting married. But ya, I will wear an Anamika Khanna for sure. The other outfits are yet to be decided. And one will be mine of course. Lastly, a few fashion tips for someone who travels by local trains, has a busy life and barely finds any time to dress up? I think you should always keep it simple. Manage your wardrobe in a way that you can just pick up things and go. White shirts and basic pair of jeans always work. Always have a nice pair of tailored pants and comfortable wedges with you. You’ll be sorted
Yasmin Karachiwala reveals the fitness secrets of Deepika Padukone and Alia Bhatt
You need to read what she says to understand how these actresses are managing to slay it with their fit bodies Popular celebrity trainer, Yasmin Karachiwala is out there to shape the world, one body at a time. She is to be thanked for the hot, fab figures of Deepika Padukone, Alia Bhatt, Katrina Kaif, Kareena Kapoor, Sonam Kapoor and many more B-Town beauties. The fitness guru, who wasone of the first to introduce pilates to India, recently launched her book, Sculpt and Shape – The Pilates Way. In an EXCLUSIVE conversation with BollywoodLife about her book, the importance of a nutritious diet and regular workouts, Yasmin revealed a great deal about Alia and Deepika’s fitness secrets. Yasmin elaborated on how the two divas have different body types and require a very different workout routine. She said, “The workout has to be designed keeping in mind their body. Like when you look at Alia and Deepika physically, they look different, right. Alia is short, Deepika is tall. Alia is a few years younger than Deepika, so her muscles are still not in place. Then Deepika has always been an athlete, so her muscle structure is very different. Alia’s never done any physical activity in her teens, so her structure of muscles is very different. Deepika has done all sorts of physical activity so her flexibility is very good. Alia is double jointed, so she’s involuntarily flexible. Her flexibility is out of her control.” Further talking about how she has a different approach for both, Yasmin said, “So my workout for Deepika is going to be very different considering all the above factors. Given that she’s an athlete, I need to challenge her but also keep in mind that she works 12 hours a day on sets and can’t be over tired. Whereas Alia pushes herself and her exercises are more primitive than what I give Deepika. I’m still grooming her through exercise to reach that strength and stability of a trained athlete or fitness enthusiast.” Well, we are ever so grateful to the celebrated trainer because without her, the face (or shape to be more precise) of Bollywood wouldn’t have been the same!
Rajinikanth’s Enthiran 2 to go on floors by end of 2015? jith’s gangster flick Kabali instead.
Rumour has it that Rajinikanth will be shooting for Shankar’s Enthiran 2 after Kabali The rumours around Enthiran 2 have started to resurface again. After rumours of Aamir Khan and Vikram playing baddies in the sequel were floated, we hear that Rajinikanth’s Enthiran 2 will finally go on floors by the end of 2015. While Deepika Padukone is said to have been approached to play the heroine’s role, Rajinikanth will be reprising his robot avatar Chitti from Enthiran. In fact, just after the release of Lingaa, it was speculated that Rajinikanth will team up with director Shankar for Enthiran 2. But going by the failure of Lingaa and loss suffered by him, Rajini seemed to have grown weary of big budget flicks and chose to star in Pa Ran-
Now the writers of Enthiran 2 claim that story for the sequel is in place and the shoot would go under way in December. While Rajinikanth is busy with Kabali, it looks like Shankar might have to wait till the superstar is done with Pa Ranjith’s film. If rumours are indeed true, then 2016 will be special for Rajini fans as two most awaited Rajinikanth films – Enthiran 2 and Kabali will hit the screens next year.
Katrina Kaif on her relationship with Ranbir Kapoor: In front of the person I love, I am very demonstrative and affectionate
The actress on on love, RK and everything else in between… They say when truly in love, it changes the person. I have known Katrina Kaif for more than seven years now, but today she seems more open, less reserved and laughs a lot. It’s always tough trying to get her to speak the L-word (Hint: It’s love) but for once this time she’s not so guarded. Katrina opens up on many things — among them, her marriage plans and yes, Ranbir Kapoor. So is the calm, cool and collected Katrina the real one or is it just a defensive facade? No. There’s a huge side to me which I do think can be objective that is fairly balanced, secure and sorted but I think that the variety of experiences that I have gone through in life will make you that way or will make you crazy. Let’s say I am not crazy (laughs) but that I have used these life experiences to learn from and to my benefit. I try to be as positive as possible while going through these experiences. It doesn’t always come naturally and inherently to me. I can often sink into the what-ifs, pessimistic approach to various situations. It doesn’t always come naturally to me to be optimistic. I
have learned slowly and gone through my phases. But no complaints — I have had 12 amazing years in every capacity and all areas of my life, personally and professionally. Of course there has been a year-and-a-half-years out of those which have been personally very confusing, painful and conflicted. Please continue… During that time I was filled with anxiety and dread but only a few knew. I wouldn’t say never say never but I hope I never go through that time again! I have fought the kind of personal battles that I thought I would never face in my life that took me by surprise and shook my very being. But it definitely made me stronger and appreciate a lot of things. Was it post your breakup with Salman? That I can’t tell you (laughs). You know me, I don’t reveal everything. Let’s put it this way, when I say personal I don’t mean regarding another guy necessarily. Those are romantic battles. I am not talking about that. As an individual, it can be caused by many things but all I can say is that I went through a very hard time. Everyone goes through their good and bad times, but how you come out through that is something that I have learned now. I came out that that situation with a lot of people from some great people around me. I am also religious, my mom is very religious and that helped me also a lot. I have that feeling of not being alone but God watching over us. One thing I take away from what I went through is we forget the simple things, and how much we have to be grateful for as an actor. What I have seen, achieved, do, have — we forget how much we are privileged, the good fortune and success I have had in my life and the blessings that I have received. It’s important to never forget that rather than focusing on what someone else has achieved and what’s going away. I do feel insecure almost every day but then that’s a mind shift, you need to shift your mind to more positive thoughts. It’s the way to be happy. I see people struggling around me and I feel
I am blessed to have the amount of happiness that I have. There is constant speculation about your engagement and marriage. When do you see it happening? When I see it happening is not the only factor in two people getting engaged. Both have to see it happening. It’s too personal a topic for me to elaborate on. Marriage is about two people being at the right place, in that place together and at the right time. I feel that when the time has to come will come but it is not right now. And although I understand fully and respect everybody’s asking about our engagement we are not yet engaged either. Why do we always want to run and get everyone married off? Why can’t we just be happy? Both Ranbir and I are working professionals and concentrating on our work and both happy. Why can’t we just allow things to happen naturally but just push everyone into a marriage? It will happen at the right time hopefully. Two people who love each other very much, will want to and hopefully get married. Hopefully, everything will fall into place. You just said the L (word) Word with reference to Ranbir! I didn’t say which two people! (smiles) Is it important to be good friends first in a relationship and then chemistry happens later? I don’t know… I don’t think there’s any rule to falling in love. Nobody can predict it. Being understanding and emotional as friends is fine, but love is a very strong, beautiful and passionate emotion. I am a Cancerean and we are very emotional people, but I am more detached when it comes to showing my emotions. By nature, we are less demonstrative and just because you are less demonstrative or talkative about your love in public, doesn’t mean that you love less. I am a very demonstrative person and I need to express everything I feel.
But you don’t talk about the person you love… To you, no? But not to the person I love… In front of the person I love, I am very demonstrative and affectionate because that’s our Cancerean nature. But you have never felt the need to stake your claim to your man in public to let other actresses know you are dating him? No. It’s not about insecurity. I have a different approach to it. You cannot stop anyone from doing anything by laying your stake or claim on them. That’s not going to stop anyone. If a person has to stray or wander, the whole world can see you together, but the guy can still find a way to do it. I don’t feel more secure or stronger about my love because more people know about it. When you are alone with the person you love, that’s where I derive my strength from — what is between us, when there’s no one around. That’s how I judge the strength of our relationship. People feel you have stopped signing films because you are getting married soon. That’s not true. I have a lot of work on hand. I have three films on hand — Jagga Jasoos, Fitoor and Nitya Mehra’s film which will all release by next year. I feel I have lot of work at the moment and I am very excited to sign interesting films and do good work so no, not at all! Was it like coming out into the open with RK at the Brothers screening? Ranbir and I have been seen driving in the same car to various locations MANY times! There’s no special coming out or making any statements. I have always been a very private person and Ranbir has always respected and understood that. I think one should elaborate more on their relationship when they are married.

I have always said that I will never EVER be a part of Bigg Boss! “Neha Marda”
The actress is about to enter Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa Reloaded as a wild card contestant. In an EXCLUSIVE interview with BollywoodLife, the actress talks about the show, her take on Bigg Boss and a lot more.
Read on! Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa Reloaded is slowly approaching the finale week. Contestants like Vivian Dsena and Radika Madan have been evicted from the show. However, a new wave will be seen in Jhalak with the entry of wild card contestants and one of them is Neha Marda! The actress is popular for her show Doli Armaanon Ki and will be making her grand entry in Jhalak in tomorrows episode. In an EXCLUSIVE interview with BollywoodLife, the actress talks about Jhalak, her take on Bigg Boss, love for Shahid Kapoor and a lot more. Read on!
You will be seen as a wild card entrant in Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa Reloaded. What made you take up this show? I have been wanting to be a part of Jhalak since a while. They had approached me last year, but I couldn’t sign it as I was doing Doli Armaanon Ki. This year too, I couldn’t be in the main show as I was busy with my shoot. I finally have gotten a chance to be a part of the show now Do you follow Jhalak on a daily basis? Who would you say is your favourite contestant? Yes, at my home, Jhalak is recorded and kept. This and Indian Idol is something which we love to watch. I have been following Jhalak since years now. Regarding favourite contestant, call me biased, but I would have to say Mohit Malik. I mean there are other contestants who are better than him but still, the way he has gone ahead is amazing. I used to think Mohit would be out, after the first two rounds. So would you consider Mohit as a strong competition then? You know honestly, everyone is a strong competiton at this
stage. They are calling us “wild card entrants” who mostly are dhamakedaar. I’m not that but all I know is I can work really hard. I don’t know if I can beat a Scarlett Wilson or Shamita Shetty but I can definitely know that I can work hard enough to do that! How are the rehearsals going? Are you finding it difficult to adapt? The rehearsals are extremely difficult. Each day my body aches and I’m sitting with my legs soaked in hot water. Even when I sleep, my mind is on rehearsals with all the dancing that I’m doing. So it definitely is difficult. Shahid Kapoor is a part of the show now. Are you a fan? What’s it like having him on-set? Who wouldn’t be a Shahid Kapoor fan! He’s charming and cute. In fact I believe my life story is kind of inspired from his film Vivah. Wahaan bhi uski arrange marriage hoti hai aur pyaar. Meri bhi life mein kuch aisa hi hua (laughs) Post Jhalak, Bigg Boss season 9 will commence. If given a chance, would you enter the show? I have always maintained that I will never ever be a part of Bigg Boss. They have been approaching me since three years. They have sat me down, explained everything and still I’ve said no. I just don’t understand it. How do people go there and talk about their personal lives on national television like that? Its not something I can do Many TV stars have ventured into Bollywood. Any plans of you joining in too? Yes I think every TV actor wants to eventually get into Bollywood and I hope to as well. I hope it works for me, something happens. I would very much like to be a part of Bollywood someday. And which actor would you like to be cast opposite in your film? Salman Khan! There’s no question about that (laughs) So what’s your mantra going to be in sticking around and making it till the end in Jhalak? I have one and only one mantra- women empowerment. I will prove that if I have decided something, I will do it, and no one can stop me. Working hard is the only thing I can do right now cuz I’m entering at a stage where there is no scope for me to be laid back. Your fans have seen you in Doli Armaanon Ki and Balika
Vadhu. You will showcase a whole new avatar in Jhalak. What can your fans expect to see? I think I would ask them to focus on my performances now. They have seen me as Ganga in Balika and a victim of domestic abuse in Doli and now they will see me as a contestant in Jhalak, so I’m excited for that. We wish you all the best Neha
OMG
Drashti Dhami to marry AGAIN!
In EXCLUSIVE conversation with Global Movie, the actress revealed her plans of a second marriage. We wonder what went wrong in her love paradise! We all know that Drashti Dhami is now a happily married woman. The actress married her long-time beau, Neeraj Khemka in a very private ceremony in February and the reason we know she’s happy is because there hasn’t been a single interview of the diva post marriage where she hasn’t raved about how loving her husband and in-laws are. In fact Drashti even said that if her shoot keeps her from meeting her father-in-law for a couple of days (since he’s an early sleeper), he sends her a text saying, “missing you beta.” How sweet is that! But despite all of this, in an exclusive conversation with Global Movie, Drashti admitted that she intends to marry again. No guys, it’s not what you think. Here’s the thing… The Ek Tha Raja Ek Thi Rani actress always wanted a destination wedding on a beach with just a few close friends and family, but since she was the last girl from her maternal family to be married, her wedding became a grand affair with every relative, every acquaintance being invited. Obviously, with that long guest list, her idea of a destination wedding went down the drain. So she’s come up with a new plan to live her dream. The actress said, “I’m thinking may be 5 years or 10 years down the line, on my anniversary, Neeraj and I will get married again on a beach; may be in Goa or may be abroad. And it will definitely be a white wedding.” Awww! We just hope the actress does not bar the media from attending this one, like she did the first time because we are already excited about seeing the diva in a white gown.
Here are the DOs and DON’Ts of becoming Ek Tha Raja Ek Thi Rani’s Siddhant Karnick’s girlfriend… Cheer up girls! I have some amazing information that might just make your day or may be week or even a month… Siddhant Karnick is on hunt for a girlfriend! In fact, to be precise, and I quote, he’s “auditioning for one.” Oh yeah! For those who need a reminder, this is the guy who brights up the television screen every night at 9:30 pm with his killer looks as Ranaji on Ek Tha Raja Ek This Rani. Yes that insanely handsome man, that Greek God-like looking man; that’s the one I’m talking about. So I met him at a recent interaction and had a little chat with him which eventually led to nice conversation about love, life and marriage. Before I go any further, a little heads up for all those who walk in to meet him thinking of him as a well mannered, down to earth kind of guy… well, you won’t be disappointed. Any way… Open-minded and modern as he may be, the actor strongly believes in the institution of marriage. “Who wouldn’t want love to happen and marriage to happen? My parents are such a grounded, stable unit together, I would love to have somebody like that” says the actor. So after a lot of dilly dallying, I finally mustered the courage to ask him directly if he’s dating someone and well, I terribly failed
in my attempt to get an answer. Sorry about that, BUT I did manage to get a nice, little description of what his “ideal girl” would be like. And here’s the list of dos and don’ts that Siddhant has for his dream girl… 1. Should be adventurous (He himself is an adventure junky whose dream in life is to travel the world on his bike) 2. Should be down to earth (Humble, soft-spoken, polite are some of his many great qualities. Obviously he expects that from his girl too) 3. Should be adaptable (With a dream to travel the world, this kind of becomes a necessity) 4. Should not have too many hang-ups (I don’t think this is singular to Mr Karnick; no one likes an emotionally unstable person) 5. Should definitely NOT dig her nose in public (Ha ha ha! The man has a sense of humour too) Try telling him that THAT’s quite a list and he’d immediately shut you up with the most apt reply you would ever have heard… “I’m a full package and so I deserve the full package too.” Can’t say I disagree! In his jovial mood, the dishy dude further teases that the auditions for his dream girl are still on. Hmmm… now this sure is one audition, I know, I wouldn’t want to miss (wink, wink). PS: Actresses and non-actresses are both eligible!
Yeh Hai Mohabbatein’s Shagun aka Anita Hassanandani: It was nice to actually shoot for an A-grade film with Salman Khan In conversation with the actress about her comic side, the roles she’s taking up and the road ahead… Anita Hassanandani really needs no description. We loved her for her girlnext-door image and we now love to hate her as the selfish vamp, Shagun, on Star Plus’ Yeh Hai Mohabattein. After a series of different roles, the actress is now trying her hand at comedy too. Anita is now part of Colors’ new show, Comedy Nights Bachao which is loosely based on
the concept of a Roast, only this will be a family roast. In an EXCLUSIVE conversation with BollywoodLife, the actress spoke about her experience being part of the new show, her journey so far and her plans for future. Read excerpts from the our conversation…
Otherwise I have a pretty decent sense of humour, at least I think so (laughs)! It’s just my nature that I’m a little reserved. In fact initially people in the industry and otherwise too, would think that I’m so arrogant. But it’s not that I was meaning to be arrogant. It’s just that as a person I’m very quite.
How’s comedy treating you? It’s very new, it’s very exciting, it’s very challenging. It’s not something I’ve tried before. So I’m hoping that few episodes down the line I might open up and it will get better with time.
Your show ventures into insult comedy and is very similar to a roast… Should we expect something like the AIB Roast? I’d say we are in a different zone. AIB was to another level. Though the concept is similar, here it is pretty controlled. It’s a nice happy zone. Actually, when we shot for the first episode, my thought was the same, ‘what if it’s taken in a bad way or if someone gets upset,’ but the reaction we got was amazing. They (Mika Singh and Sohail Khan) were
So how’s your sense of humour? With my friends and closed ones, it’s not that bad. I basically take time to open up. That’s why I think may be three or four episodes down the line I’ll be better and more comfortable…
enjoying every bit of it. Aren’t the guests in on the joke? I don’t think it is very detailed. They obviously know (that we’ll be cracking jokes on them), but they don’t know every joke. Do you consider yourself to be a good comedian? See, luckily this is all scripted. I’m not a mimic and I’m not a stand-up comedian; that’s not my cup of tea. But I’m an actor. If I have scripts in advance I can pull it off. With every rehearsal I also have my inputs and the comfort with my partner is pretty good, so gradually it’s setting in.
there are lot of women who get really bitter when something bad happens to them and they want to take revenge. How has your journey as an actor been so far? Oh, it’s been beautiful. I’m not really from the industry and started at the age of 16, but I’ve got a really warm welcome. I’ve done TV and I’ve done films and I’ve done flop films. Actually that (flop films) has taught me a lot. So I’ve had beautiful ups and downs and now that I’m married, I’m content and look back, it’s just been really really nice.
You said you’ve learnt a lot from your failures. Please elaborate… Moving to your other show, how do For Koi Aap Sa, I had really worked you like your character Shagun? very hard and I was kind of sure that Well, the best part about Shagun is it’s going to do really well. I had put that she has so many shades. As in so much effort and it was such a Shagun I’ve got a chance to portray beautiful character, and when that every shade that is part of a real per- flopped I had gotten into depression. son. Career different, she’s been has its own place and your life has heartbroken, she’s been emotional, its own. It made me appreciate that she’s been hated, she’s hated people, I have started from no where and so it’s been a combination of achieved so much. So I shouldn’t be everything. And now she’s also r very greedy. Honestly, women who get married for money, the amount of fame I’ve received after
YHM, I’ve never achieved that much fame before. It’s not that I havn’t done hit shows before. I have done shows like Kabhi Sautan Kabhi Saheli, but well social media wasn’t quite active back then. So to actually get their letters, gifts and comments really means a lot to me. Have you also received hate mail? Oh yes, I have! The first hate mail I received, I cried. My husband then consoled me and asked me to take it as a compliment that I’m doing the negative character so well. I was very upset because I’ve done so many sweet characters and now I’m experimenting. SO I couldn’t understand why people are sending all the hate mail. It did hurt a little but I get more love mails so it doesn’t count. Any Bollywood plans? I’ve worked in Salman Khan’s upcoming film, Hero. It’s not a very lengthy role, but it’s nice. I’m playing Athiya’s Bhabhi, it’s a very positive, nice and cute character. And it’s a great film. It was nice to actually shoot for an A-grade film with Salman as the producer and Nikhil as the director. You have star sons and daughter being launched. It was wonderful.

Kaisi Yeh Yaariyan’s Yuvraj Thakur: There is an emptiness without Parth Samthaan, fans are missing Manik! The actor opens up about being the new face of the show and living up to the fans’expectations post Parth Samthaan aka Manik’s exit from the series. Read his EXCLUSIVE interview. Parth Samthaan who played Manik on MTV’s Kaisi Yeh Yaariyan has quit the show and fans are still coming to terms with the fact. Where some have turned bitter and staged an outcry on Twitter over Parth’s exit, there are others who have simply refrained from giving season 2 a chance and have stopped watching the show. However, there are some loyal fans who continue to watch the series and are warming up to the show’s new face- Yuvraj Thakur. The actor has been introduced as Madhayam aka Maddie in the series and is being shown as a baddie for now, who is taking pangas with the Fab 5 members. Many think that Yuvraj is Parth’s “replacement.” The same however isn’t true as the actor is a new character on the show. In an exclusive interview with BollywoodLife, the new lad on the KY2 season 2 block opened up about playing the role of Maddie and the fact that he hasn’t replaced Manik in the show.” Fans are thinking that I have replaced Manik. That’s not the case. My character is a new one. So it’s taking time to get that cleared out. There are some who have got it, others who haven’t. Fans are gradually accepting me and creating a space for Madhyam.” So did Yuvraj feel the pressure when coming on board after Parth’s exit? ” There is always a pressure when you are joining a series mid-way because there is so much to prove on-set as well as off-set. See honestly saying, I was expected a lot of hatred from the fans. Par aisa kuch hua nahin. Out of 100, I have received 85-90 percent of positive feedback. The point is that emptiness is there with the fans, they are missing Manik,” said the actor. When asked to reveal more about his character as Madhyam, Yuvraj said,” Madhyam is incorrigible. He isn’t affected by what’s happening around him. He is just being himself and he doesn’t want to impress anyone. I wouldn’t say he’s bad guy.” The actor went on to talk about his first episode with the team members.” The first episode was good. . I already knew Charlie( Chauhan). Everyone has a great tuning with one another so it will take time to make a bond with these guys gradually.” Well we’ve gotta say that Yuvraj is doing a ‘Fab’ job on the show and we wish him all the best for the future in KY2 season 2!

The hot babe candidly admits that she was being overweight when she entered into Bollywood. However, she was highly uncomfortable with her weight because she could not wear sexy and skinny clothes of her choice. You can keep them in a messy brain, which will reduce the exposure area under the scorching sunlight.
3. Reduce the frequency of hair wash The scalp produces natural oils which triggers more oil production and thus you feel the need of washing your hairs more often. Rinse your hairs in the shower rather than washing them to get rid of the excess oil. Replace your regular shampoo with some homemade natural one which helps in reducing the requirement of hair wash. Another home remedy to dissolve down the excess oil is dabbing your scalp with a cotton ball soaked in witch hazel.
4. Dry them naturally
Summers has dry winds which can dry your damp hairs in no time, then why use a blow dryer. Besides that try to avoid the flattening irons because it can damage your dried hairs. Style them in a messy way since your sleek style will make that frizz of your hair stands more prominently.
5. Moisture hair anytime, anywhere Yes, it is possible and in order to do that, you just have to make a natural mixture of water, avocado oil and Aloe Vera juice. It will make your hairs moisture, but not greasy.
8. Damp your hairs before swimming Your hairs tend to absorb less salt water or chemicals from the pool when they are drenched with clean water. In addition to that, always take a shower after taking a dip or spray your hair with clean water to get rid of hard water of the pool.
10. Use natural hair mask If you are facing hair fall problem in summers then you should apply a natural homemade hair mask to rectify this problem. It will supply the adequate proteins to your hair which makes them healthy and shiny. Egg mask is a best hair mask as it is high in Albumin, a protein which makes your hair smooth and add shine to them.
11. Use wide toothed comb Wet hairs are more prone to breaking since they are more tangled. To remove the tangling of hairs always use a wide toothed comb instead of hair brush since it can pull and break them while wide toothed comb untangled them gently without any breakage. You can also untangle them after drying and applying some oil. Beat the heat of summer with some chic hairstyles like high bun, side braid or slick pony with a hat or scarf.
