Creating homes and communities that improve with time and last for generations.

6

At Sekisui House, we believe that thoughtful housing design can improve quality of life and wellbeing. To achieve this, we look beyond structure and raw materials to the most important feature of any home – the people who live in it. How the people in our homes interact with each other, their environment and those around them is at the heart of our philosophy. Creating communities that work in harmony with their natural surroundings has existed in Japanese tradition for centuries. It’s a concept that reflects the unique relationship Japanese people have with the nature that is ever present in daily life – from mountainous landscapes, to extreme natural events like earthquakes and tsunamis. That history has taught us many valuable lessons. Lessons we now turn into benefits for residents, their communities and Australia.

Seaside Momochi in Fukuoka, Japan exemplifies the idea of ‘aging beauty’ (which is inherent in our development approach). The homes here blend into the environment through organic paths and native vegetation, which has been lovingly maintained by residents over the years. This defining project demonstrates how streetscapes can contribute to growing the value of properties and communities over time.

7

From Japan to the world. For 60 years, Sekisui House has been one of Japan’s most well respected home building companies. This experience has helped us take our unique approach to international operations across China, Singapore, Australia, the USA and the UK. While communities across the world have different behaviours and needs, our commitment to creating sustainable and authentic living environments remains unchanged. We listen to our customers and learn from every home we build. Insights like this give us a unique edge when pioneering new innovations designed to meet the changing needs of people, communities and the environment. Through this, we’re able to continue our role as leaders in global residential development standards.

“ The key philosophy driving our design approach in Japan in the 1960s is just as relevant to our global operations today – homes should be built to provide safety, comfort and wellbeing, and to last for future generations.” Atsuhide Seguchi CEO and Managing Director Sekisui House Australia

This home built near Nagano, Japan is an original Sekisui House A-Type design – one of the first home designs ever developed by Sekisui House. In 2016, the Japanese Agency of Cultural Affairs designated this home as a ‘Tangible Cultural Property’. It represents the postwar pre-fabricated housing era, which is still driving Japan’s housing industry today.

“ Family, community, shared spaces to be lived in. These are the values we design and build for, that define the difference between a house and a home.” Craig D’Costa General Manager – The Hermitage and NSW Home Building Sekisui House Australia

The Hermitage, Gledswood Hills is Sekisui House’s flagship community in NSW which perfectly embodies the company’s development principles defined in Japan. Masterplan architects work with the site’s topography to highlight and enhance the site’s natural assets, characterised by magnificent stands of large, mature trees, former golf fairways informing the streetscape design, and old golf greens repurposed as charming pocket parks for residents to enjoy.

17

Our holistic approach to urban development. When talking about the ‘sustainability’ of living environments, we often think about turning the lights off, using car share services, green walls, rooftop gardens, solar panels, and even LED lighting. The dictionary defines ‘Sustainability’ as “the avoidance of depleting natural resources in order to maintain ecological balance”. At Sekisui House, we don’t believe that true sustainability only takes into account how we treat the environment. We also don’t believe you should have to turn the air-conditioning off if it’s uncomfortable to do so, or promote biodiversity while cultural and social diversity remains a concern. Our definition of sustainability has a much broader meaning. We believe that to be successful as a ‘sustainable’ company, we need to find a happy medium between humans and the earth. But how do humans maintain happiness, while sustaining the planet?

18

In 1989, long before the term ‘sustainability’ was a fashionable term in the property industry, Sekisui House defined the ‘Lifetime Home’ concept. It was aimed at creating homes to cater for longer life spans through durability and flexibility around changing needs and lifestyles. Today we build houses that provide safety and support for everyone, regardless of age and ability. Placing focus on comfort and peace of mind for residents – while maintaining harmony with the environment and surroundings – was the beginning of Sekisui House’s holistic approach to sustainability. Since then we’ve launched many initiatives based around our four core values for sustainable urban development.

ENVIRONMENTAL VALUE

FOUR VALUES OF SUSTAINABILITY AT SEKISUI HOUSE

Nurturing a careful, considered connection between nature, communities and wellbeing can enhance living experiences. Green spaces, streets and trails are designed to flow and connect intelligently and respectfully. Our communities are designed to complement the environment and not replace it.

RESIDENTIAL VALUE The homes we build cater to changing needs and lifestyles, while providing safety and support for the people who live there. We apply timeless aesthetics to ensure longevity and enjoyment over time.

ECONOMIC VALUE A home is one of the biggest investments a person will make in their lifetime. We work to ensure that what we create (the home and its environment) is one that will improve in value over time.

SOCIAL VALUE We bring communities together to ensure life outside the home is as comfortable and appealing as it is inside. Combining a deep respect for heritage and local culture with considered placement of parks, pathways and amenities, we try to improve the way people interact together within a community.

The Common at West Village has been described as an “urban forest” with mature trees, grassed areas and open spaces which sets a new benchmark for Brisbane’s residential precincts.

2

The Peters Ice Cream Factory opened in the 1920’s and created nearly seven decades of employment that shaped the character of West End.

3

Brisbane’s first Ice Cream Festival was launched in 2017 by Sekisui House, filling the factory with ice cream for the first time since its closure in 1996.

Using our past to guide our future. “ Along with its distinctive heritage appeal, West Village is a flagship development in terms of its environmental sustainability, mixed-use offering and established community.” Harrison Phillips Project Director Sekisui House Australia

Our Japanese heritage has had an important influence on our approach to sustainable development. The communities we create follow the ancient Japanese principle of SATOYAMA – the idea that when properly managed, both humans and the environment can exist alongside, and benefit from one another. We know from experience that if communities manage and use resources sustainably, they’ll be able to enjoy them well into the future. The SATOYAMA principle teaches us about the importance of open green space and the preservation of biodiversity. Sekisui House combines this with a deep respect for the history of our sites to inform our master planning concepts. In each of our projects, we look to the past to guide our future. At West Village in Brisbane’s West End, the former Peters Ice Cream Factory is the cultural centrepiece of the project.

In the process, we’re creating new value for the residents and community through events like the highly successful Brisbane Ice Cream Festival. This festival has run for three consecutive years and has informed the design of the public realm to facilitate successful community events into the future. The factory has also been activated as a premium event space featuring a gallery of artwork by renowned artist David Bromley. Proceeds from the event space were donated to a local charity and not-for-profit organisations. In addition to the restoration of the heritage buildings, West Village has implemented many community-building initiatives like Creative Kids workshops, kids cooking classes, a construction school and laneway pop-up stores. West Village will ultimately be home to 35 new retail, restaurants, food and beverage outlets, as well as a full-line Woolworths supermarket – the first full-line supermarket in West End in 20 years.

Here, we’re bringing a piece of history back to life. Megan Barron, West Village’s Sales, Marketing and Property Management Director explains, “it’s all about creating an environment and foundation that enables communities to grow and evolve for generations to come.” 23

A better quality of life.

At Sekisui House, we believe that homes and living environments are at the heart of our society and can have a direct impact on the health and well-being of people. As one of the world’s largest residential developers, we carry a responsibility to make a positive contribution to shape these environments by delivering wellconsidered homes and communities that not only improve living standards, but also enhance quality of life.

Planning ahead Thriving communities adapt and evolve with the changing needs of society. As a developer, our view has always been to consider the next 10, 20, 50 years, and beyond. One important consideration is planning for a socially diverse community of varying age groups and life stage that helps to create a sense of belonging, while also inspiring new connections. Ecco Ripley in Brisbane’s south west is one such development where we’re helping to shape the future of the region by incorporating diverse housing options within the masterplan.

24

Here, customers have the flexibility to select blocks of land to build their dream home with the builder of their choice, or select a Sekisui House home design, built and managed by our in-house construction team. Sekisui House also offers ready built homes in Ecco Ripley’s Lighthaven neighbourhood that are either under construction or ready to move in, all no more than 200 metres from an abundance of parklands and green open spaces. Scott Blaney, Queensland State Sales Manager, says the project has been designed with a wide variety of residents in mind. “Ecco Ripley caters for all lifestyles and life stages. Its broad appeal will help to create a rich community that will last for years to come.”

Amenities tailored to the community Another way we create value in a community can be seen in our newest development in Sydney’s west, Sanctuary. Occupying a waterfront location in Wentworth Point, just 16 kilometres from

Sydney CBD, Sanctuary offers residents the convenience of an urban environment with the luxury of an unusually broad choice of private and public amenities. Designed to nurture the growing community in the peninsula suburb, the Sanctuary masterplan includes a proposal to transform a disused wharf into a vibrant riverside café for the entire community to enjoy. Some other innovative initiatives include a puppy park complete with an on-site grooming facility; a ‘Sharing Shed’ equipped with an array of workshop tools and equipment; and ‘Global Gardens’ which provides residents and neighbouring communities ownable garden plots to tend. For Sekisui House, building the home is just the beginning. Our responsibility is to ensure that the communities we create are as relevant today as they will be in years to come.

West Village is the first major project in Brisbane to take a precinct approach to waste management with a cold room and dry stock shelving for retailers to place quality surplus food for donation. Any food not fit for consumption will be turned into mulch for gardens.

3

The need to be green.

The desire for comfortable living environments that people want to live in for generations is not just an ideal set for home and land owners.

Engagement Manager, Natasha Mulcahy said, “a big focus was on the public realm as part of our 6-star Green Star Communities rating.”

In an increasingly populated world, apartment living has become a very attractive option for more and more families. Now more than ever, Australians are placing greater demand on quality construction and environmental technologies in apartment developments to ensure they remain an asset to their communities.

“We’ve designated 50 per cent of the site to parkland, garden-filled laneways, podium-level green space and rooftop gardens. We wanted to create lush, green spaces that reflected the subtropical environment of the region, and promoted the outdoor Brisbane lifestyle.”

At Sekisui House, we apply a considered approach by implementing environmental initiatives that offer real solutions and benefits for residents, businesses and the wider community.

Locally constructed, globally inspired We build more net-zero-energy homes than any other company in the world, and our Smart Eco Towns and disasterready communities in Japan have received worldwide praise for their design and innovation. These achievements inspire us to reach for higher standards here in Australia. Take West Village in Queensland for example. Discussing the development’s green innovations, Sustainability and

West Village is addressing sustainability challenges around carbon, biodiversity, water and waste. “We’re promoting active transport with 1600 bicycle parking spaces, LED lighting throughout public spaces, and an on-site food waste recycling system where high quality food waste from retailers will be donated to charity. What food can’t be reused will be converted into compost for the site. We are also collecting rainwater and working on the installation of a grey water treatment plant which will eventually drought-proof our public realms and gardens,” said Ms Mulcahy.

Raising the bar Another development with a significant investment in environmental tech is Central Park in Sydney. It is Australia’s

greenest urban village – and a beacon for sustainable living across the world. And it truly does raise the bar. Central Park has its own gas-powered tri-generation plant that supplies electricity, heating and cooling to the whole precinct. This covers around 2,200 residential apartments, and the precinct’s retail, commercial and public spaces (including 6,400sqm of parkland). As well as this, its water recycling facility re-uses 100% of rainwater falling on rooftops, it has the largest GoGet car share service in Australia, and 94% of materials removed from the site during demolition were recycled or reused. This makes Central Park one of the largest recycling projects in Australia.

Building for tomorrow As our Australian developments demonstrate, sustainability is about more than just using the latest green technologies to check a box. It’s about integrating solutions that provide real value, from an economic, social, environmental and resident perspective. This is what we call a holistic sustainability vision.

The future of housing is here.

“ The care and attention invested into every SHAWOOD home isn’t just about the precise and detailed construction – it’s ultimately about enhancing the resident’s living experience.” Masaki Watanabe Product Development Manager Sekisui House Australia

28

1

SHAWOOD’s focus on precision and craftsmanship leads to beautifully simple structures that function effortlessly.

2

The unique SHAWOOD structure allows for large uninterrupted spans that can create double height voids and generous space to optimise views, light and function, as well as architectural features that only a SHAWOOD home can achieve.

2

For 60 years, Sekisui House has pursued sustainable excellence through design, technology and in-house research and development. This has been the bedrock for homes built on the highend proprietary SHAWOOD system – an approach that combines Japanese organic design principals with preengineered precision. Sekisui House established SHAWOOD in Japan in 1995. It was the result of demand for a highly engineered housing construction system that displayed resistance and durability to the country’s extreme weather conditions – in particular, earthquakes. Based on the proven results in Japan, Sekisui House introduced SHAWOOD to the Australian market in 2012. The unique feature behind every SHAWOOD home is the proprietary ‘metal joint’ construction system which delivers millimetre perfect calibration, designed to lock together providing extreme accuracy and strength. This efficiency in construction, not to mention the design advantages in working with such a system has the potential to completely revolutionise Australia’s residential building industry.

Faced with a swelling population, rising building costs and growing amounts of construction waste, the Australian construction industry needs to move away from traditional methods. SHAWOOD provides an answer through its industrialised approach and focus on sustainability. Craig D’Costa, General Manager – The Hermitage and NSW Home Building, says that what we’ve brought to Australia is a highly researched and tested product that is challenging traditional construction methodologies. “This type of innovation where components of a home are manufactured off-site in a factory-controlled environment – and where time and material waste is minimised on-site – is part of the key to unlocking more affordable and sustainable cities in Australia.” “We have now constructed over 350 SHAWOOD homes at The Hermitage, and as a result of this confidence, we will soon bring SHAWOOD to new geographic locations,” he adds. The inherent benefits don’t just end at construction. With meticulous attention to every detail, a SHAWOOD home is engineered to align with five key performance elements – health and

wellbeing, thermal comfort, acoustic comfort, passive design and energy efficiency. It’s this performance that provides enhanced levels of general comfort and liveability, stemmed from a philosophy that honours nature, quality, longevity and creating timeless homes that function effortlessly. As Product Development Manager, Masaki Watanabe says, “We build sustainable elements into our homes, so that our customers can live in peace without constant concerns about how much energy they are using.” For a developed country such as Australia, it’s important to lead by example when it comes to sustainable development, and to show practical ways we can cut down on emissions and costs. This is exactly what SHAWOOD is helping the nation do – through an unparalleled level of technical integrity, quality of finish and deep focus on designing energy-efficient homes built from sustainably sourced materials. This is the Sekisui House way.

29

2

1

This SHAWOOD home in Japan demonstrates the hallmarks of comfortable living with its light-filled interiors, sense of open space, and indoor/outdoor connectivity.

2

The SHAWOOD system was born from a desire to meet the hopes and expectations of home owners.

SHAWOOD. Built to perform. Sekisui House entered the Japanese wooden-frame housing market in 1995, a year when the Kobe earthquake occurred, and the citizens were dealing with the aftermath of one of the worst disasters in the country’s history. Combining their experience in steel-frame construction with the attractiveness of timber, Sekisui House created “SHAWOOD” a highly advanced wooden-frame housing system with outstanding earthquake resistance and durability. SHAWOOD arose from a situation created by numerous factors coming together: not just the despair from the Kobe earthquake, but also the hopes and expectations for houses of the future. Sekisui House’s response was to spur a new evolution in housing that would build on their tradition of prioritising customer satisfaction.

30

Freedom of design

The comfort factor

The compact living conditions common in Japan have brought a thorough understanding of efficient and thoughtful spatial design. Sekisui House has translated these design considerations for the larger Australian home model, providing residents with ample storage and more astutely planned spaces.

The care and attention invested into each SHAWOOD home isn’t just about the precise and detailed construction – the quality of the living experience is just as important.

The SHAWOOD construction system uses engineered laminated timber posts and beams which are combined systematically to achieve the exact and most efficient load-bearing design. Posts and beams within a typical home are subjected to varying loads. The compositions of a SHAWOOD built home are precisely designed to match these loads whilst maximising the opportunity to create double height ceilings, raked ceilings and spacious rooms with large distances between walls. These spaces can dramatically improve the ambience and comfort of a home.

Advanced materials, passive design, airtightness and draft control techniques are used to minimise energy use and greatly enhance comfort levels. SHAWOOD’s unique exterior, for instance, which comprises an advanced cavity wall system, allows the home to breathe, promoting air flow and managing moisture levels. This increased airflow delivers natural cooling during summer months and maintains stable comfort all year round.

Always evolving Data collected on the performance of SHAWOOD homes in Australia, coupled with direct feedback from customers, is communicated back to Sekisui House’s Research and Development Institute in Kyoto, Japan to assist with continuous improvements and innovations.

4

Pre-engineered for precision. The starting point for all SHAWOOD homes in Australia is Sekisui House’s own Manufacturing and Quality Control Centre located in Ingleburn, NSW. The centre is responsible for manufacturing the engineered structural frames and trusses for SHAWOOD homes, and it’s also where other crucial specification components (such as those imported from Japan) are passed through for quality control prior to being delivered to the various construction sites.

3

3

4

All structural framing is preengineered in Sekisui House’s very own Manufacturing and Quality Control Centre in Australia, optimising lead times and adherence to strict in-house assurances. SHAWOOD’s precision offers substantial improvements in quality and efficiency during construction.

“Australia is currently the only location outside of Japan where a SHAWOOD home can be purchased. Much of the work involved in establishing SHAWOOD in Australia has gone into tailoring the processes for our conditions and building codes. The Manufacturing and Quality Control Centre is essential in ensuring that the integrity of a SHAWOOD home is maintained throughout the entire preengineering and construction process,” says Craig D’Costa, General Manager – The Hermitage and NSW Home Building. The structural timber used in a SHAWOOD home is sourced from sustainably managed forests in Northern Europe, and selected for their superior quality, uniformity and load bearing performance. Milled and glued under

pressure into laminated posts and beams, structural timbers developed by SHAWOOD are inherently strong and capable of spanning wide spaces to deliver internal architectural features that only a SHAWOOD home can achieve. Highly technical, computerised machinery at the facility is used to enable posts and beams to be fabricated precisely and to ensure that the proprietary metal fittings that secure the joints are attached to the exact millimetre. “The precision of SHAWOOD has a profound effect at construction stage, delivering a substantial improvement in quality and reliability and significantly reducing workload, build time, waste and errors on site,” Mr D’Costa said. “SHAWOOD has demonstrated Sekisui House’s ability to adapt the company’s state-of-the-art technology for an overseas market and we’re now well poised to grow the SHAWOOD offering in Australia. We see our delivery of SHAWOOD as an opportunity to lead by example when it comes to progressively pushing the boundaries of affordable and sustainable development.” Mr D’Costa added.

31

SHINKA House: A natural evolution. Sekisui House has been at the forefront of research and development in netzero energy homes since 2008 when we unveiled the world’s first Zero Emission House at the Hokkaido Toyako G8 summit. We have now constructed over 50,000 net-zero energy homes for families across Japan and are set to expand this capability into our global operations – including Australia. Located in Sekisui House’s flagship masterplanned community, The Hermitage, Gledswood Hills in Sydney’s south west, SHINKA House is the first prototype net-zero energy home constructed by Sekisui House outside of Japan. SHINKA is the Japanese term that when translated to English means; Evolution. Utilising Sekisui House’s proprietary SHAWOOD construction system as its structural core, SHINKA House represents a natural evolution of our Australian home building operations. The project aims to build upon SHAWOOD’s inherent benefits, whilst implementing advanced technologies and design features to operate the home at a net-zero energy level.

32

A net-zero energy home is a building with zero net energy consumption, meaning the total amount of energy used by the building on an annual basis is roughly equal to the amount of renewable energy created on the site. SHINKA House’s level of energy efficiency has the capability to offset the household’s entire annual energy consumption. The net use of electricity in a year will be zero, with any excess energy returned to the grid. “SHINKA House demonstrates how active and passive design considerations can deliver a highly functional, healthy and liveable home,” said Craig D’Costa, General Manager – The Hermitage and NSW Home Building. “Aligning with our achievements in Japan, our objective here was to create a home that is not only net-zero energy, but also an affordable proposition for Australians to build. The creation of SHINKA House is a massive step in that direction,” Mr D’Costa added.

SHINKA House has achieved a NatHERS star rating of 8.1 and incorporates a host of design features and technologies including; minimalist PV and battery storage, energy and wellbeing automation, geothermal augmented air-conditioning, high performance glazing and water wise landscaping. The home’s automation system features an energy monitoring capability allowing residents to see how much energy is being consumed and how much power the solar panels and batteries have generated and stored. Instantaneous daily, weekly, monthly and yearly reports can be created with ease to track usage patterns. Nominated as a finalist in the 2019 HIA National Greensmart Awards for ‘Sustainable Home’ and the HIA Regional Awards for ‘Energy Efficiency’, SHINKA House is setting new standards for home building in Australia.

At the Comprehensive Research and Development Institute in Kyoto, Japan, there is a specialised experience studio which analyses how people live in their homes, their movements and behavioural patterns. It looks at how homes can be designed to help develop the minds and bodies of children, the differing needs of the elderly, and people with permanent and temporary disabilities. It’s this type of research that has informed the thinking behind every detail in our homes, from placement of handrails, door handles and light switches, through to considerations on heights for steps or minimum width of hallways. The insights we gain from our research studios are then communicated to the design team who work to embed functionality into an aesthetically thoughtful design. For Sekisui House, it’s about combining safety, style and comfort; creating an environment that can sustain families for life.

Designed for flexibility At The Orchards, in Sydney’s north west suburbs, Sekisui House is creating a new community with a focus on health and wellbeing. Luxury amenities for relaxation, entertainment and fitness have been thoughtfully designed into the masterplan with the future residents in mind. A unique feature of the apartments is a flexi-room which gives residents options to adapt their living space depending on their changing needs. The folding door system allows the room to be opened up as an extension of the living space, or closed off to make way for another bedroom, nursery, study, or hobby room. Project Director, Edward Natour says that these types of innovations and solutions have been inspired by home designs in Japan where people tend to remain in their homes for a longer time. “While Sekisui House has fine-tuned the art of efficient floorplans in Japan, we’re able to take this knowledge and adapt it for our Australian customers,” adds Mr Natour. “Our masterplanning process is not just about the external environment and what amenities we can provide, it extends down to the finest detail in every home.”

OUR OBJECTIVE

OUR BUSINESS FOCUS

Superior Quality & Leading Technology

Comfortable Housing & Ecologically Sound Communities

Building relationships. At the heart of everything we do.

Back in 1989, Sekisui House established the ‘Love of Humanity’ philosophy which means that everything we do, we do in good faith, and with a spirit of service. Today, this philosophy is ingrained in all facets of the company – across the world.

Putting faces to relationships

A rewarding opportunity

Craig Barnes, Sales and Marketing Manager at Sekisui House, believes an authentic human relationship is part of what a customer can expect from us.

Importantly, it ensures we always put people’s happiness and wellbeing first – not just in the way we design homes and communities, but in each and every interaction.

“Quality of relationships is fundamental to quality of life. Sekisui House has delivered more than 2.4 million homes globally, and each one has been built with a connected relationship between ourselves and the customer,” says Mr Barnes.

Often the handover of keys is seen as the end of the journey. For Sekisui House, we see it as a celebration for customers to remember forever. It’s also not the time for us to say good-bye. In fact, it’s just the beginning. The beginning of a new life for our customers, and an enduring relationship with Sekisui House.

Philosophy in action ‘Love of Humanity’ was a key driver for the company to create the Comprehensive Research and Development Institute in Kyoto – to better understand how people live in their homes, and what we can do to improve their experience. The unique facility is a first of its kind in the residential construction industry, demonstrating Sekisui House’s belief that life revolves around the home, and homes have the ability to affect the happiness of all members of the family.

Our sales and customer relations team take pride in guiding customers through their buying journey, from the excitement of the decision to purchase, through the emotion of watching their homes come up from the ground, to the gratifying day of the handing over of the keys.

To say ‘thank you’ and to show appreciation to our loyal customers, we have introduced ‘Sekisui House Rewards’. The program offers benefits to customers who make successful referrals or who make multiple purchases. It’s one of the ways to ensure we keep adding value for our customers, for years to come.

Mr Barnes adds, “at the end of the day, it’s about our customers being comforted by the fact that our team is approachable, supportive and personable. This connection is paramount, and as result, over half our new customers that have bought a home at The Hermitage have done so via word of mouth from a previous purchaser.” 37

More than a philosophy. A reality. How we’re building the sustainable communities of today and tomorrow.

Since Sekisui House arrived in Australia in 2009, we’ve become synonymous with intelligent, high quality homes and communities across New South Wales and Queensland. Today, we have many projects at various stages of completion, each demonstrating the strong values of our Japanese heritage – a sharp eye for detail and adherence to the most rigorous quality standards.

By using the expertise we’ve honed over the years, we’re helping to create better solutions for all our communities, and with over $2 billion already invested (and more Australian projects planned over the next 20 years), we’re here for the long haul.

As a specialist residential property developer, we create everything from apartments and houses, to entire masterplanned communities, incorporating infrastructure, roads, public spaces and amenities. It’s this all round capability that sets us apart and allows us to guarantee the quality and timelessness of everything we put our name to.

Families have that vital space to grow, and children are free to play amongst the green open spaces that traverse the estate. Scenic regional vistas and an abundance of established local flora make it hard to believe you are within easy reach of Sydney’s CBD.

“Over the last 10 years in Australia, we have had the privilege of delivering over 10,000 properties for Australian families, whilst inspiring countless new friendships within the communities we’ve established.”

In 2019 Sekisui House celebrated our 10-year anniversary in Australia. As a Japanese company, we took the leap to enter into a new country, to learn about what matters to Australians, their cultures and aspirations. Our aim was to bring our trusted knowledge and experience in design, construction, and customer service to create positive change in Australia’s residential development and home building industry. And we can now look back with pride and be confident that we have well and truly achieved this – from the landmark Central Park development which has recently gained recognition as one of the 50 Most Influential Tall Buildings of the Last 50 Years, to the success of our sustainably-led SHAWOOD homes, which has offered a new perspective for home building in Australia. Throughout Sekisui House’s 60-year history, we have continually strived to be a company that adds value to society and the homeowner. We have used our innate drive and technological expertise to create some truly innovative solutions in the areas of efficient home design, sustainable construction, and resident health and wellbeing. As a future-focused company, we are constantly researching and analysing the changing habits of people and communities in the regions we operate.

The role of each international business operation is to look at how our technologies can be adapted for these communities, and to translate it into a commercial offering. The Australian market has yielded both prosperity and challenges over the past ten years, but we remain confident that the quality of our products, our attention to detail, and dedication to customer service will only strengthen us for the long term. Over the past 10 years in Australia, we have had the privilege of delivering over 10,000 properties for Australian families, whilst inspiring countless new friendships within the communities we’ve established. As we look to expand our unique offerings over the coming years, we are encouraged by the happy families and friendly neighbours we meet every day within our communities. We are only at the beginning. The foundations are laid, and we look forward to many more years of making a difference in Australia. Our resolve to honour the core values set in Japan remains unchanged – to create environmentally conscious homes and communities that bring joy now, and for decades to come. Thank you Australia for being a part of our journey.
