TIM HEADING HEAD OF SCHOOL
SPH Pluit Village represents the latest addition to the growing network of Sekolah Pelita Harapan campuses which are under the guidance of Yayasan Pendidikan Pelita Harapan (YPPH). This foundation aims to transform the nation by raising educational standards.
The location of SPH Pluit Village in North Jakarta provides Indonesian and expatriate families access to top-quality global standard education with English as the medium of instruction.
The SPH global educational program taught within a biblical perspective allows students to use the power of inquiry to search for truth and develop into mature thinking achievers committed to lifelong learning.
To bless the nation through total transformational education based on true knowledge, faith in Christ and Godly character
SPH envisions each of its students as a fully developed Godly character based on the understanding that all truth comes from the Almighty which in turn can be found in a relationship with Christ.
Proclaim preeminence of Christ and engage in the redemptive restoration of all things in Him through holistic education
By following Christ’s teachings towards God’s plan of redemption, students use their well-equipped and guided actions impact wherever they choose to serve.
THE SPH WAY LAYS A BIBLICAL, CHRIST-CENTERED FOUNDATION THAT INSTILLS STRONG VALUES OF:
Integrity
All students strive for integrity, which encompasses traits of transparency, trustworthiness and steadfast commitment in serving and honoring our faith.
We educate every student’s spiritual, intellectual, emotional, physical, social and aesthetic wellbeing to develop servant-leaders.
Our mission to provide holistic, quality education leads towards the development of leaders who have the passion to serve Indonesia and the world.
It recognizes each student’s inherent gifts and capabilities, and hones respective talents and potential in all areas of development.
BASED ON THE UNDERSTANDING THAT COMPREHENSIVE LEARNING COMES FROM THE LIGHT OF GOD’S TRUTH, THE SPH WAY ENABLES STUDENTS TO THRIVE AND REALIZE PURPOSE FOR THEIR LIVES.
Our strong sense of community, strengthened by spiritual foundation, guides SPH service-oriented activities initiated by both students and parents. These activities, called Mission Service Learning (MSL), serve as testament to Christian faith in action. Students learn by immediately applying what they have been taught by serving and meeting the needs of other people.
MSL instills an attitude of service to others while connecting learning with real world scenarios. The activities enrich experience since students are encouraged to think and act beyond the classroom and into the larger world. Actual community engagement enhances students’ generosity, leadership, critical thinking and organizational skills which lead to responsibility, accountability, empathy and social awareness.
The SPH Way involves high levels of support to ensure student growth and give them a platform to make a difference in the world. At SPH Pluit Village, we offer excellent learning programs for evaluating and assisting student learning and behavior needs.
Learning Support Team (LST)
We aim to assist learners who struggle with the everyday demands of learning and navigating academic outcomes. We focus on English and Mathematics as our learners are all multi-lingual and we want them and expression of the English language. We work with learners in groups and one on one, as the need arises, and we assist Homeroom Teachers in their classroom settings to achieve learning targets.
SPH promotes a strong sense of community wherein students, parents, faculty and staff form a cohesive family. Our community embraces parents whose involvement help make SPH better as they are consulted in the learning process. Parents become part of a strong and established SPH family wherein we get to know and work with each one personally.
SPH Pluit Village has an active Parenting Program to equip parents on Christian care and training of their children.
Another unique school program refers to the Parent Advisory Group (PAG), which consists of parents representing each grade level called Class Parent Representatives (CPR). The PAG bridges all parents and the SPH faculty through meetings and seminars. Through PAG, all parents have a communication platform for constructive input on school programs and policies.
SPH Pluit Village follows the international Cambridge curriculum wherein students acquire the knowledge and skills they need to achieve at school, university and beyond. We infuse these globally recognized standards with Christ-centered and bible-based approaches for a unique learning system that meets student needs.
challenging and inspiring, culturally sensitive three stages:
Primary (Early Childhood – Grade 5)
Lower Secondary (Grades 6 – 8)
IGCSE (Grades 9 – 10)
Each stage builds on the students’ development and emphasizes on mastering subjects in line with developing skills for study and future career. By valuing in-depth knowledge of subjects, the curriculum helps students establish connections among different aspects of the subjects.
Cambridge encourages your child to develop higher-order thinking skills such as critical thinking and problem-solving, independent research, communication, collaboration, thinking. The Cambridge program prepares students for life.
CAMBRIDGE LEARNER CHARACTERISTICS:
An informed curiosity and lasting passion for learning
innovative and engaged
Prepared to tackle the demands of the future with the capability to shape a better world
SPH Pluit Village’s Early Childhood Education (ECE) program focuses on a play-based learning approach wherein we integrate subjects through hands-on activities. By involving all senses when learning new concepts, youngsters become aware of their environment and learn best by doing. We allow them to learn at their own pace through structured, free-thinking and exploratory activities. This encourages young learners to ask questions, try to solve problems on their own and think creatively.
SPH Pluit Village facilitates the entire learning process according to a broad concept outline. This allows youngsters to freely explore a variety of activities and develop holistically.
The Primary and Lower Secondary form part of the Cambridge learning pathway and each stage leads seamlessly into the next. Cambridge developed Primary (Grades 1 – 5) and Lower Secondary (Grades 6 – 8) as a single curriculum from stages 1 to 9. Each stage builds on the learner’s development from the previous one or from other educational systems.
OUR PRIMARY AND LOWER SECONDARY LEARNING STAGES INVOLVE FIVE (5) PRINCIPLES THAT HIGHLIGHT THE CAMBRIDGE APPROACH.
Broad curriculum for balanced education
As a parent, you want a curriculum that supports your child’s spiritual, moral, cultural, mental and physical development. Cambridge answers your needs by offering a choice of 10 subjects including English (as a second language), math, science, ICT for starters and global perspectives, plus art and design, music, physical education and digital literacy to broaden students beyond the traditional subjects.
Global learner in a local contex t
Through global perspectives, students celebrate local culture while discussing and comprehending global issues. By giving them a broad outlook, students can better appreciate their identity and understand culture and wider world.
Robust foundation with excellent progression
The Primary learning stage establishes a strong foundation to progress along the Cambridge pathway in an ageappropriate way. This soundly sequenced
learning. We ensure that students learn the right things at the right time.
An aligned program based on latest world-class research
Under stewardship of the University of Cambridge, the entire program covering areas of curriculum, teaching, learning and assessment aligns and conforms to continuous research. Aligning these four areas puts students in the best possible position for the future and leads to a much richer learning experience.
Flexible approach
The subjects include Bahasa Indonesia, as the national language, plus Mandarin as another compulsory language. Cambridge allows schools to build a program that adapts to students’ needs and local education and one that SPH maximizes.
SPH shares similar views to Cambridge that education works best when curriculum, teaching, learning and assessment work in unison. Assessments both prove and improve students’ learning, giving them focus, pace and challenge.
The Primary and Lower Secondary curriculum prepares students for the next stage by developing understanding and skills across each program. It includes a set of learning objectives that provide a structure for teaching and learning, and a reference to check students’ attainment and skills.
Village shaped the curriculum to make it exciting and relevant for your child. Students and make the most of their God-given strengths and interests.
Cambridge Upper Secondary applies to students ages 14 to 16 and it builds on the foundations established from Cambridge Lower Secondary, although students do not necessarily have to complete that stage before taking this one. Under this learning stage for Grades 9 and 10, students prepare for the International
Education (IGCSE) examinations.
IGCSE strengthens broad and balanced studies across a wide range of subjects, using leaner-centered and inquirybased approaches to learning. Students develop skills in creative thinking, inquiry and problem solving. Assessments consist of oral tests, courseworks and practical evaluations.
IGCSE consists of a two-year program leading to established, examinations by the University of Cambridge. Students taking IGCSE globally. Since these established educational developments and trends, it serves as an ideal foundation for higher level courses such as AS and A Levels or the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IB DP).
Past Cambridge checkpoint results for our Grade 5 students showed above average performance compared to the world average for English, science and math which in particular edged notably higher by 1.8 points.
