What Do You Want To Do

What Do You Want To Do? Majors are not an easy thing to choose. There's so much to study and learn that it can be quite daunting to choose just one thing to focus on. Unless you're like me and have two majors that you love dearly. Throughout life we are told to do what we love because then we will never work a day in our lives. Now while this is true, I have learned that because you do what you love, you will strive to worker harder than ever at it. Doing what you love isn't an easy out to hard work. You’ll constantly want to improve and do better, all to master your craft. It’s an obsession like no other, but a great one at that. What do I love to do? I love to write and tell stories and bring people into another world even if just for a moment. There’s something about escapism that I think really helps people throughout their day and I can do that through writing and journalism. It is my passion and something that I've known I love for a long time. Doing what you love should bring you alive and challenge you in new ways daily. So far, getting my degree in journalism definitely has not been easy, but it's been a journey. I am learning new things about myself, and am slowly realizing my talents and downfalls through some serious trial and error. But, at the end of the day, my trial and errors make me who I am and reinforce my love for writing. If it wasn't challenging, then what was the point? Also know, that finding what you love to do isn't supposed to be easy for everyone. I couldn't even begin to tell you how many clubs and out-of-school activities I was a part of before I really found something that stuck. I have always loved to write, but there was a time in my life when I wanted to be a marine biologist...seriously. People are meant to change and I think that's the beautiful thing about life. No one is going to be the same in five years, or even in five weeks. For college-aged young adults, life is moving fast and so are we. Before we know it, we will be walking across the stage and receiving our degrees. All in all, do what you love in life. Whether it’s through your career or your hobby, everyone needs an outlet in their life. If you don’t have one, this is what college is for. Take this time to find yourself and try new things. It’s going to be scary and hard, but in the end it’ll all be worth it. This is your time to build your foundation as you. Find your friends and companions that will pull you back if you stray to far; they will be your rock, the people that will be there for you no matter what. Get out of your comfort zone and do something you never thought you would. Jump out of a plane, take a ballet class, start a new sport, just do something. Get adventurous, get scared, but do something for you.
