SPOTLIGHT spotlight

CELEBRITY XMAS SPECIAL With all the glitz and glitter in show business it’s a wonder most celebs can muster enough Christmas spirit to pull a cracker. But after a long year dealing with the pressures of making millions it seems many celebs can’t wait for a bit of Christmas sparkle and an excuse to get away from it all. We’ve tracked down some of the most festive famous folk around and found out how they’ll be celebrating on the one day even Tinseltown is beaten for sparkle. CHERYL FERNANDEZ-VERSINI X Factor’ judge Cheryl Fernandez-Versini officially got Christmas underway this year by turning on the Xmas lights in Oxford Street. So how did she feel about being asked to do the honours at the prestigious event? “I’ve never actually done this in the whole time I’ve been doing what I do and it is quite an honour yeah,” she says. And after hitting the switch in front of her army of fans she said: “That was so much fun. It felt really Christmassy. I’m now feeling very festive.” 2014 will be Cheryl’s first Christmas since marrying French businessman Jean-Bernard but as to the couple’s plans over the Xmas season, Cheryl hasn’t thought that far ahead yet. “Honestly, I can’t believe that we’re even that close to Christmas. I’m so involved in ‘X Factor’ I haven’t had five seconds to breathe. I don’t even know what I’m going to get me mother so I have no idea where I’ll be,” she says. Meanwhile, before Xmas there is the small matter of trying to win ‘The X Factor’. So does Cheryl think she can do it this year? “I feel very confident in Lauren’s [Platt] ability ñ absolutely,” she says. “I mean I’m really grateful for everyone that’s voting to keep her there because ultimately that’s what you need, it’s the public that decides and if they love her as much as I do then I think we’re in with a great chance.”

RITA ORA Pop star Rita Ora was also flicking the switch this year ñ turning on the Xmas lights at London Westfield. Meanwhile, there’s still a few weeks to go until Xmas Day but Rita is already planning her festive treats. She says: “I’ve already thought about my Christmas presents because they’re pretty important and, for me, now I don’t have to make them anymore. So I can finally buy my parents something that they’ve always wanted,” she laughs. “And I can’t wait to go home, you know, I’ve missed them so much and I’m never home. So to go home, I can’t wait to not actually have to wake up if I don’t want to, I don’t even have to shower so it’s kind of like ñ why not?” So what is Christmas like when she goes home? “You can just do whatever you want for the day. It’s all about family, so we kind of have dinners and talk a lot of nonsense and act foolish and drink a lot of wine.” As for what will be under the tree for Rita this year she has a couple of requests. “I really want a dog and I would really like to learn how to arrange flowers. I don’t know why I like that but I really do,” she laughs. OLLY MURS Like the title of his new album, Olly Murs has ‘Never Been Better’. Not only has he been storming the charts with his festive single ‘Wrapped Up’, he has also announced an arena tour for 2015 plus he recently revealed he has a long-term girlfriend Francesca Thomas. So is he looking forward to spending Christmas loved up with his not-sosecret-anymore other half? “I love Christmas and yeah when you have a girlfriend it’s even harder because you’ve got to get extra presents and I’m rubbish at buying presents so it’s always going to be difficult but no I love Christmas, being with the family especially. My little nephew is like three now so I can’t wait to go and see him and yeah it’s just going to be good to see everyone,” says Olly. So what else will the former ‘X Factor’ runner-up from Essex be getting up to over the festive season? “I always try and do normal things,” he says.”It can be difficult, you know, but Witham, Essex, is a great place for me. I love it there, it’s my home town. So it’s very quiet and chilled and I know everyone there so I’ll probably be popping down there Christmas Eve for a couple of drinks but we always go out with the family Christmas Eve. But just being at home, I’ve got four weeks and normally I go away. Sometimes I always get on a plane and go somewhere nice and hot for a week or two just to relax and get focused again but this year I’m going to stay at home for four weeks because I just love being at home. Bit sad really but I kind of like being at home chilling out.” GARY BARLOW It’s been a rollercoaster year for Gary Barlow. The Take That star has been in the news over his tax

4

affairs plus bandmate Jason Orange quit the group in September. But the show must go on and Gary, Mark Owen and Howard Donald recently announced a Take That arena tour for next year. But before that there is the small matter of Christmas. So what does Gary Barlow do over the festive season? “We hibernate a bit at Christmas,” he says. “I mean we have my mum one year or Dawn’s mum and dad the other year and it’s Dawn’s mum and dad with us this Christmas. But we will basically be in the house, not do anything, Christmas presents, TV, chocolate, Matchmakers, Chocolate Orange.” Gary has famously struggled with his weight over the years but is strict about what he eats these days. “I am strict but Christmas is the one day I just go ñ here we go,” he admits. And as to whether he will be spending any time over Christmas with his bandmates, Gary says: “It depends what we’re doing. We toured up to Christmas one year and we did a Christmas party and all that stuff. But basically once work sort of finishes on the 16th or whatever it is, we sort of go off to our families.” EVA LONGORIA Eva Longoria stepped out in London recently with her pal Victoria Beckham at the Global Gift Gala event. But will she be spending Christmas in the English capital? “I’ll be in Texas with my family,” she says. The Global Gift Foundation helps provide shelter, food, medical care and other needs to vulnerable groups, particularly women and children. But does Eva think that people start to suffer from charity fatigue at this time of year? “No I never think, I don’t think there’s such a thing. I think everybody

spotlight needs to give year round. They need to know what’s happening and thank God we have Victoria and myself using our platforms and our voices to do that.” There is one person who will no doubt be getting a very special gift from Eva her goddaughter Harper Beckham. Eva has been enjoying some time hanging out with Harper and her mum while in the UK. “It’s just so much fun when we get to spend all that time together because I really miss her [Victoria] when she left L.A. We were both really bummed,” she says. JENNIFER ANISTON It looks like 2015 could be the year that Jennifer Aniston finally gets an Oscar nod. The former ‘Friends’ star is tipped to land a nomination for her stunning performance in ‘Cake’. But before awards season kicks off there are the holidays to look forward to. So will Jen be hosting Christmas this year? “I do Christmas,” she says. “And I do usually like a little tree trimming party and have some, you know, hot chocolate, a little chilli.” Jennifer was in London recently wither fiancÈ Justin Theroux for the premiere of her latest film ‘Horrible Bosses 2’ and while she was in the English capital she was planning to do a bit of Xmas shopping. “I do enjoy a good shop,” she admits. “I’ve been told to go to Liberty, Selfridges, Harrods!” HUGH BONNEVILLE Hugh Bonneville will be on TV screens this Christmas Day for the ‘Downton Abbey’ Xmas special. In real life, of course, he won’t be at Highclere Castle for Christmas so what are his plans? “We’re going to have a big family Christmas,” he says. “There’s sort of about 15 or 20 of us getting together and it will be quite traditional and I always shuck oysters on Christmas morning ñ that’s my thing. We’re actually having Christmas a little bit earlier because we’re actually going to be away over Christmas day but I’m insisting that we have the full Christmas event, albeit a week earlier. So we’ll have oysters and then we’ll have a Turkey and then fall asleep in a heap.” Hugh will be flying off to sunnier climes for Xmas day itself for a well-earned break. “It’s been quite busy,” he says. “I’m filming some Shakespeare at the moment and then I’m doing some more ‘W1A’ which is the sitcom based at life at the BBC, which we’re doing in January and then more ‘Downton’ in February. So it’s important to carve out a bit of family time.” ANNE HATHAWAY Anne Hathaway has been busy out and about promoting her latest movie ‘Interstellar’ and is now looking forward to some time off this Christmas. “I am looking forward to Christmas,” she says. “We’re hosting our families this year and we’ve never done that before, fully, like where people are coming and staying for a few days. So yeah I’m really looking forward to that.” But there will be no snow for Anne this Christmas. The Oscar-winner and her actor husband Adam Shulman ñ who have a rule they never spend more than two weeks apart ñ recently moved from New York to Los Angeles. “I took the plunge. I never thought I would,” she says. “I have been a die-hard New Yorker my whole life, I couldn’t imagine leaving but I don’t know something changed, the vibe changed. Maybe I changed I don’t know, but suddenly I found myself feeling healthier, more relaxed,

more at home in Los Angeles. I don’t know, maybe it is just age. Maybe you get past 30 and suddenly go, ‘I don’t want to go out every night’. I just kind of want to like grab all my closest friends and sit in the back yard all day and play music and just chill out, you know.” JAMIE OLIVER The problem with being a chef is there’s no rest when it comes to Christmas. Jamie Oliver admits: “Christmas will be crazy. We’ve got full family, both sides of the family, so we’ve got about 30 people this year. So just when I’m thinking I’m off, I’m not off - and I do it all myself. It’s fine. I am a chef so I should be alright. But you want to balance the kids’ presents and feeding the crew,” he adds. Luckily Jamie has four little helpers in his household if he needs some assistance in the kitchen. Talking about his kids, Jamie says, “The two eldest ones - Daisy and Poppy - are pretty good all-rounders and sort of they do a lot of salads and dressings and baking and bread. And then Petal and Buddy just love to cook. They love to grow. And Buddy particularly keeps telling me he wants to be a chef, a ‘cooker’ when he gets older so, you know, that gets me excited because I wouldn’t ever force him to do it but secretly I would quite like an apprentice,” he admits. As for his wife Jools’ culinary skills, he says: “She does really good cooking for the kids. She’s really good at that. She’s not so good with us. I always cook, she never cooks for us. She likes me to look after her which is fair enough. No, she probably cooks for me a couple of times a year, twice a year. Enough said!”

you see Christmas trees. I think Christmas is that one time and I’ve had sort of discussions with production companies in the past when we were doing something at Christmas, ‘Reinvent it’. I don’t want to reinvent Christmas! Christmas is a time when you do all that stuff. You know, if you think about it, Turkey, there is a reason why we do not eat Turkey for the rest of the year. If it was that good… it gets really dry. So, but at Christmas time, you know, all of those things, cheesy Christmas songs and the smell of the tree and the glitter of all the decorations and all of that stuff, you know, that’s the time of year to do it.” LILY ALLEN This time last year Lily Allen was at the top of the charts with Keane’s ‘Somewhere Only We Know’, which was the theme for the John Lewis Christmas advert 2013. The single announced her comeback after taking time out from the business to be a full-time mum. 2014 has been a busy year for Lily with the release of her third album ‘Sheezus’ plus the ‘Hard Out Here’ singer has been playing gigs and festivals all over the world. She’s currently touring in the UK and no doubt Lily will be looking forward to time off this Christmas with her husband Sam Cooper and their two daughters. So what is the best or worst Christmas gift Lily has ever received? “My best or worst gift? I don’t know my mum’s pretty good at... she still does me a stocking every year so those are always my best gifts. My husband is pretty good but I can’t complain, I can’t tell you my worst gift because then someone will be really upset!” she laughs.

SAM BAILEY Sam Bailey will be enjoying her first Christmas since winning ‘The X Factor’ this year plus there is a new addition to her family who will be joining in the celebrations ñ Sam’s new baby daughter Miley, who was born in September. As she looks forward to the festive season, Sam says: “It was a bit manic last year obviously coming off the show but this year it’s a little bit different. I’ve kind of moulded into my role, if you will, and I’m really excited. So yeah, it’s going to be a good one.” Sam will also be hoping she is fighting fit for Christmas. She recently revealed: “I’ve got Bell’s Palsy so I’ve got like one side of my face has got slight paralysis due to an infection.” But there has been a positive to being poorly ñ it’s given her a chance to do all her Christmas shopping online. Sam says: “It’s amazing what you can do on a computer when you’re ill. Trust me, I don’t know whether I’m coming or going. I’ve got more deliveries coming to my house than anything.” She adds: “I’m normally out in the shops doing it but I look a bit frightening at the minute so I’m doing it from the comfort of me own home. So yeah it’s all good.” HESTON BLUMENTHAL Heston Blumenthal is not sure whether he’ll be having Christmas at home this year. But the multi Michelinstarred chef - famous for his creatively scientific style of cooking ñ says that if he is cooking the Xmas dinner it will be a traditional one. Heston says: “If I’m at home, I’ll cook, definitely. I love skiing and the restaurant closes at Christmas, so if I have my choice, almost every year I’d go on a skiing holiday. Plus obviously you can go to the mountains,

CAREY MULLIGAN Hollywood actress Carey Mulligan - who is starring in the much-anticipated ‘Far From the Madding Crowd’ in 2015 makes sure to remember what Christmas is all about when she goes home for the festive season. She says: “We go to mass, the Church that I’ve been going to since I was like seven years old and they have a nativity kind of extravaganza and it’s been, it’s run by this amazing woman called Mrs Jacobsen who was my teacher when I was at school and it’s been the same songs and the same play for 21 years and I was in it and you graduate from being a small gold angel to a silver angel to a choir member. Or you get cast as Mary and Joseph or one of the Kings. And it’s been exactly the same routine for my entire life and I used to be in it and then now I go back.” So was she ever Mary in the nativity? “I was never Mary. I never played the lead roles,” she laughs. “But no, it’s lovely. I mean she is an amazing person but yeah, so that’s a nice tradition,” she adds.

Come On You Reds! O

K, it may be a standard football chant that only really applies if you actually really support a team that play in the colour red, but just like the beautiful game is played in seasons, when it comes to make-up, this season red is THE colour. But before you grab your trusty vampy red lipstick and pillar-box red nail colour, go deeper - think berry, think bloody and even think rusty. Think Berry It is fair to say that the winter months and berries go together like love and marriage or a horse and carriage, making this shade of red a sure fire seasonal winner. The berry look is all to do with depth, and whilst it can be a very vivid look on paler skin, if you embrace the matte and avoid the sheer, it can also be a look that encompasses a wide age range. Think of the berry lip look like more of a stain than a lip decoration and you are on the right lines. 8

Blag a Tan in Winter

W

hether it’s a curtain, blind, net or glittery piece of voile that you peek through to see what weather lurks outside during the colder months, it is likely that for the vast majority of us, we don’t want our complexions to look as monotone as the scene that greets us. Whether it’s the whiteness of snow, the beige-ness of leafless trees or the grey of a rain-threatening sky, what you all truly yearn for is that healthy glow that comes for free during the summer months. So assuming that you can’t afford to book a Caribbean holiday on a whim, just what are the best ways to ‘blag a tan’ when the sun don’t shine?

Berry certainly comes into its own when it comes to nail colour and here you can go full throttle into gloss if that’s what floats your boat. From gel, to shellac to just plain old varnish, going as deep as you choose is a confidence builder that works wonders. This is a look that allows for those with shorter length nails to keep abreast of fashion trends for once so biters are re-united with current looks at last.

match the nails for a uniform result whatever your clothing choice.

Think Bloody Think red, and blood can be an obvious colour comparison contender, but this time it’s less about the freshly cut look. Go less ‘watery’ and more ‘dense’ and you will hit the fashion nail on the hand.

At last the eyes can join the party, as whether matte or glitter-strewn, you will make your eye colour ‘pop’ and have others prone to comment on their beauty.

This red is subtle enough to go on the cheek, and when skilfully and patiently blended adds a winter glow that ensures you look warm inside even if it’s sub-zero outside. A cheek highlighter in gold accentuates cheekbones and brings festivity to the whole facial look. Lips can be ‘tarted-up’ with a swipe of gloss to result in a look that’s kiss-ably good, and

Think Rusty The rusty red is all about adding a swirl of brown, resulting in that iconic colour that graces recycling dumps and metal gates the world over. Ditch the fear of looking like an old boat hull as this a look that you can go strong on.

Feeling bold? Go for thick black eyeliner on the upper lid and close the deal with an artistic flick at the outer edge. Matte lips are the show stealer with this tone and the pale skinned fashionistas can embrace the look with no trend fears.

Beauty The gradual build

The serious self-tan

The brush-on bronzer

Just as you don’t get a sun tan in the blink of an eye, today’s fake tans are designed to build colour. As well as ensuring you get a look that looks natural, it scores on versatility as you can truly get a colour to match your own skin tone and colour preference.

If you are truly addicted to the tanned look, whether lightly golden or deep TOWIE orange, gone are the days of the deckchair striped look or retro breakfast cereal outer glow that resigns you to days indoors with a scourer and bar of gritty soap. Yes, you actually can achieve a look that allows you to not only to go about your normal life without fear of mockery, but even better, will get you admired and boost your self-esteem.

And last, but by no means least, there is also the option of a tanning solution that will supply instant colour, as well as the option of instant removal.

Try James Read’s collection of ‘Sleep Masks’ and ‘Gradual Tans’ if you want a fool-proof result. Easy to apply and with no staining, this is magic stuff. Literally overnight you can change from a character from Disney’s ‘Frozen’ to a bronzed goddess in the making, and without an orange pillow imprint of your cheeks – facial as opposed to other body parts. With products for the whole body or just the face, which let’s be honest is often all that is publicly on show in the winter months, a little goes a long way.

St Tropez and Sienna X are killer brands in this area and whether you apply at home or go for the professional salon experience, results are generally uber-impressive.

Laura Geller’s ‘Baked Body Frosting’ brings shades for all skin tones including the very pale. The result is natural and with a shimmery yet subtle glow that exudes health. With an option to use wet or dry, versatility is again the name of the game as you can build up colour until you find a shade that suits. With ‘glowing’ reviews, this product is definitely scoring ‘brownie’ points with beauty addicts.

Remember to prepare the skin in advance by exfoliating and then moisturising, as this will help prevent build up in the creases.

Feeling Full versus Feeling Satisfied: Knowing The Difference Could Change the Way You Diet

Let’s face it, diets are hard. Any time we embark on a healthy eating regime or even a strict diet, we tend to deprive ourselves of foods, leading to eventual hunger, snacking and then frustration when we find that the pounds are shifting. If you took a look at the science behind it all, you might find that you’re better equipped to shift those extra pounds, so if you’re looking to lose weight in the New Year, read on for some great, proven ideas for losing weight and keeping it off. How Do I Stop Feeling Hungry When I Diet? In order to plan an effective diet, it’s important to work out why it is we get hungry in the first place, and it is not a straightforward concept. Scientists believe that there may be over 40 different processes which contribute to the feeling of hunger – each one used as a survival mechanism to let us know when to eat. However, this feeling of hunger isn’t caused by a craving for sugary food and snacks, it’s your body’s way of telling you it needs nutrients and energy. When most people embark on a diet, they look to find ways of keeping hunger at bay, but often do this ineffectively, which is why we reach for the pack of biscuits and rather than take one or two, proceed to over indulge. Eating the biscuits may make you feel fuller but

HEALTH & Beauty health in reality, what you are feeling is distension, a different type of feeling full. Satiety versus Distension Satiety is when you feel satisfied after eating. This is when your body’s needs have been met and you no longer feel hungry, and this should always be your goal when it comes to weight loss. Distention on the other hand, is when you eat to the point of feeling so ‘full’ that your stomach sticks out, which usually means you’ve eaten too much. Three main hormones make-up satiety – Leptin – Essential for reducing appetite, produced after eating. Becomes less effective when you are overweight, making it harder for you to feel satisfied.

Peptide YY – Provides a short burst of satiety after eating foods rich in carbohydrates.

The same goes for skipping meals. Eat three meals a day or break it down into five smaller meals. Snacking on dried fruit and nuts throughout the day will also keep hunger away.

Avoid sugary foods and drinks. They won’t promote satiety and will enhance your cravings for more of the same.

• Eat balanced meals containing carbohydrates and fats, but most importantly some protein to provide your body with what it needs and to reduce cravings for other foods. Making sure that you eat well and exercise regularly will be far more effective in the long term than short term, food deprivation diets. Get thinking about the science before you diet to give you the best chance of losing those pounds once and for all.

Chuck Out The Tinsel: How to make your Christmas decoration stylish For some Christmas has always been an excuse to have the most glitzy, blingy and sometimes the most tacky decorations and lots of them. An over-abundance of eyewatering festive jolliness seems to overtake reason and good taste. But you can achieve a stylish look at Christmas with a few simple but effective touches. Whether you’ve already decorated, and don’t think it’s quite the look you were going for, or you’ve yet to put your tree up, here are a few tips to make sure your Christmas decorations will impress, whomever you’re hosting! Make an Impression The entrance hallway is usually the first thing your guests see, so make an impact with a classic garland woven through the stair banister. A green, white and silver colour scheme, for example, is eye-catching without being over the top. A simple collection of pine cones on a vestibule table will fill the entrance to your house with a seasonal scent and is much more evocative of the festive period than artificial room fresheners. Dine With Style One of the easiest ways to add festive style to your Christmas dining table is by placing a display of candles along the centre; use a mixture of varying heights and shapes but stick to one colour to complement your crockery. A plain white table cotton cloth always looks stylish, while oversized white ribbons tied around the chair backs could complete the look.  Continues page 14 > www.selectionmagazine.com

home The Christmas Tree There are so many different versions of the Christmas tree that there’s no need to stick with the traditional. There are simple artificial column trees which are designed to sit neatly and unobtrusively in a small corner; some are festooned with fibre optic lights and require no additional decoration and some come out of the box already decorated. But one of the biggest joys at Christmas time is decorating the tree yourself and this needn’t involve acres of tinsel. A real tree can be more expensive to buy but is the quintessential symbol of

the home at Christmas. The vintage look will always be in style; go for heirloom baubles with silk ribbons instead of tinsel, and antique wooden toys for a chic look. ‘Less is more’ is the mantra to avoid overwhelming the tree’s natural beauty. For those who prefer a modern look a simple colour scheme, perhaps to complement the decor of the room, may be the way to go. A monochrome design with a few show-stopping tree ornaments makes an impact without looking too busy and gifts wrapped identically and artfully arranged around the base of the tree tops off the look. You could

even invest in a couple of metres of a luxurious fabric instead of traditional wrapping paper for an extra special touch. Take note of the tips above and you’re not going to be the neighbour who’s gone overboard; you’ll bet your guests will be taking notes for next year! Have a very stylish, and very happy Christmas! 

hoME Insulated Conservatory Roof company, iCon Roofs Ltd is the first company in its field to be endorsed as a Trusted Trader by Which? in the UK. Which?, the well known consumer champion launched the scheme in October in response to lack of consumer confidence when choosing a trader and fears of being ripped off Ö.the modern day equivalent of word of mouth recommendationÖ as it were. In order to become a Which? Trusted Trader, firms have to pass a rigorous assessment process that includes a face to face evaluation by a professional assessor, a company credit check and customer references.

Peter Bailey of iCon Roofs said, ìIt was in depth, far more than simply a tick-box exercise. They talked to me at length to find out how we promote and process enquiries, how we estimate the work, who works for us, what qualifications they have, our after sales policy and how we handle the unexpected etc.î As a past winner of Sussex Business Awardís ìRetailer of the Yearî, Peter understands the importance of excellent service and customer care. He continues, ìWe always treat customers fairly, with respect for them and their property in the same way as we would expect to be treated ourselves. We do not rush people into making decisions and we always give a fixed price, in writing, before

starting an installation with the added benefit of all work being underwritten with an insurance backed guarantee.î “I am pleased to be part of a scheme that genuinely identifies those who work to the highest standards in contrast to some other website listings that can easily be bought by anyone with little vetting.î You can find out more about the scheme or search for approved business at http://trustedtraders.which.co.uk/ or for more about iCon Roofs at www.iconroofs.com

Stollen Bites Christmas is the time of year when we want to be with family and friends. We want to share gifts, good food and good company. Most people like to keep things as traditional and as simple as possible. Traditional Christmas puddings and Christmas cakes are both very acquired tastes, and I have noticed that over the years people are choosing different items for their Christmas table. So I have a wonderful, warming, fruity and spicy Stollen recipe to share with you. They are little bites that are just beautifully Christmassy, a lot lighter and less rich than the pudding and fruit cakes. I hope you enjoy these little lovelies as much as I do! Henry Smith MP

In the evening of Armistice Day last month, I was honoured to help Crawley Town Football Club officially launch their involvement in the Tickets for Troops scheme. Earlier this year, I approached the club to ask if they would consider donating tickets to our Armed Forces, and was delighted when they quickly replied to give their support. By going to www.ticketsfortroops.org.uk and searching for Crawley, the site will display all tickets available for Crawley TownĂs home league matches.

since 2001, the well-deserved opportunity to enjoy an event of their choice with their friends and families. I recently met with the Royal British Legion at an event in Parliament, and they provided a timely reminder that our troops deserve thanks all year round. Crawley Town FC are the first organisation in our town to sign up to Tickets for Troops, and I am delighted that they represent the whole community by saying, Thank You. As ever,

Tickets for Troops provide free tickets to members of the Armed Forces for a variety of sporting, musical and cultural events. The scheme offers serving personnel, and those medically discharged from the forces

HOME IMPROVEMENTS After a recent spate of home improvements, four couples were having a dinner party to discuss the additions to their houses. Alan had not recently had a new bathroom. Kara had not yet done her kitchen, but perhaps would update it next. Brian, who is married to Maud, had not had new windows. Laura delighted in showing photographs of her new conservatory. Neither Charles nor David had a new kitchen. Julie had not had new windows. Alan, who also had not had windows, is not married to Laura and Charles is not married to Kara. Who is married to whom and what work had they recently undertaken, assuming that each couple had one improvement and no two couples had the same improvement.
