It gives us great pride to announce Sew Creative Lounge's fall 2018 schedule. It is full of creative classes for children and adults. From Beginner Sewing 1 to Hacking your Pattern, these classes allow you to dive deep into your own creativity. We are most excited about the addition of our Intermediate class series for adults (page 3), our crafting classes for youth ages 5-7 year old (page 7) and our Quilting Basics class (page 5). SIP & SEW DC DAY PARTY
We're sipping, we're sewing AND partying! Come join us for Sip and Sew DC's Day party where you will learn basic sewing techniques to complete a project while listening to your favorite music and enjoying a glass a wine. Each class has a different project and the DJ will have you rocking your way through the event. All materials included plus two complimentary glasses of wine. No experience necessary! Class begins at 3pm. Party starts at 4pm. Class Fee: $50 Day Party Only Fee: $20 (includes two glasses of wine) October 13 - Skirt (Afrobeat/Reggae) November 10 - Pants (90's Music/R&B) December 8 - Kimono (Go-go/Trap)
SIP & SEW DC - ADV. BEG/INTER This edition of Sip and Sew DC is for those who have mastered the basics and would like to learn more sewing techniques such as zipper installation, gathering, pockets and more. This is a 6-hour workshop that includes a break for lunch. All materials included plus two complimentary glasses of wine. Classes are held from 10am-4pm. Class Fee: $65 October 7 - Jumper December 2 - Tailored Pants
SEWING PALOOZA We all have them, and we all need to get them done. This will be the night where you can bring in your sewing projects to work on in an exciting sewing environment! There is no formal instruction; you can use the sewing machines and space. Also, please bring a dish and sewing materials for the swap. Events are held from 6-11pm on September 21, October 19, November 16 and December 21, 2018. Class Fee: $20
OPEN STUDIO Need a little help to complete a sewing project? Want to make a project from one of our Sip and Sew DC classes? Come make it during our open studio hours with the help of an instructor. Classes will be held on the 1st & 3rd Wednesdays of the month. Class Fee: $50

BEGINNER SEWING SERIES
BEGINNER SEWING 1 Entry level class for true beginners. Students will learn to make a pillow, tote bag and pull on pajama bottoms. Emphasis will be placed on machine operation and reading a pattern. Class Fee: $145 Fall Session 1: Tuesdays, September 11, 18, 25 and October 2 Fall Session 2: Saturdays, October 13, 20, 27 and November 3

BEGINNER SEWING 2 This class is designed for students who have a basic knowledge of sewing or have taken our Beginner Class 1. Students will make two shirts and build the following skills: button holes, collar, sleeves and cuff. INTERMEDIATE SEWING SERIES INTERMEDIATE SEWING 1 - FORMAL WEAR Sewing an evening gown or any formal attire can seem intimidating, but no need to fear! Bring your dress to life by learning some tips and tricks of the fashion industry. Sewing experience is required. Class Fee: $145 Fall Session 1: September 9, 16, 23 and 30

INTERMEDIATE SEWING 2 - BUSINESS SUIT Making a tailored business suit is generally considered a fairly advanced project. Let’s take a look at a few tips to help make sewing a business suit for the first time an achievable project. Sewing experience is required. SPECIALTY CLASSES Looking for something specific? Let's learn some new skills with these specialty classes. Classes highlighted in pink don't require sewing experience. Class supply list is available on our website. BOMBER JACKET Create your own personalized bomber jacket. Style it in a variety of ways using fabrics such as brocade, denim or leather. Stitch or iron on patches or add embroidery to elevate the look. Advanced Beginner & above. (9 hours) September 6, 13 and 20, 2018 6-9pm Class Fee: $140 QUILTING BASICS Quilt-As-You-Go: If you are new to quilting, this simple quilt-as-you-go method is a perfect start. This method allows you to quilt all layers together, so that you are working with smaller, more manageable pieces. Advanced Beginner & above. (12 hours) September 22, 29, October 6 and 13, 2018 10am-1pm Class Fee: $145 ALTERATIONS 101 Learn how to do 4 to 6 simple alterations such as hemming pants, repairing a pocket, replacing a zipper, taking in a waistband and so much more. No sewing experience necessary. (6 hours) September 12 and 26, 2018 6-9pm Class Fee $95 SERGER BASICS Take your serger out of the box or closet and learn to thread and operate it with confidence. Projects include a pillow or dinner place mats and napkins as well as creating a booklet of sample stitches. No sewing experience necessary. (6 hours) October 3 and 10, 2018 6-9pm Class Fee: $95 COSMO TOTE BAG The perfect size for carry-on or weekend getaway, this bag has the option to make long or short handles and features deep pockets on the inside of the bag and along the exterior sides. A covered button put the finishing touch on the closure. Advance Beginner & above. (9 hours) October 11, 18 and 25, 2018 6-9pm Class Fee: $140 HACK YOUR PATTERN Have you ever looked at a pattern and wished it had long sleeves, was more fitting or simply wanted to take a piece of a pattern and create something completely different? If so, this class is for you! Let's create the piece that you really want to create. Advance Beginner & above. (9 hours) October 12, 19 and 26, 2018 6-9pm Class Fee: $140 SERGING FOR INTERMEDIATES Many sewers use their sergers merely for finishing the raw edges of their sewing projects, but there’s so much more. In Review the basic serger stiches as well explore three other sergering stitches and learn how to use different types of thread. Serger Basics required or similar experience. (6 hours) October 24 and 31, 2018 6-9pm Class Fee: $95 BUTTONHOLE BASICS Learn techniques on how to make perfect buttonholes on your garments. No experience necessary. ALL THINGS ZIPPERS Learn 6 different ways to install a zipper into a jacket or coat, dress, skirt, fly pants, and several other design elements to jazzing up a zipper for a unique look. No sewing experience required. (6 hours) November 7 and 14, 2018 7-9pm Class Fee: $95 HOME DECOR - OTTOMAN Let's use your sewing skills and create the perfect ottoman for your living space. Advance Beginner & above. (9 hours) November 9, 16 and 30, 2018 6-9pm Class Fee: $140 CROCHET BASICS Get started with the basic of crocheting and learn single & double crochet techniques while creating an infinity scarf. (3 hours) November 30, December 7, 2018 6-9pm Class Fee: $95
DESIGN SERIES Led by Mama Afia Nson Bonsu, this series focuses on traditional and contemporary African design techniques without the use of patterns. For advanced beginning level seamstresses and above. Supply list available upon registration. MIXED TEXTILE MADNESS Sometimes one African print fabric is not enough. In this workshop, you will learn how to make bold statements with mixed prints and create your own design. September 29, 2018 2-7pm Class Fee: $65 DESIGNER COATMAKING Let's get ready for winter by designing and creating your own coat. Learn the tips and techniques on lining, properly using interfacing and installing zippers and buttonholes. November 17, 2018 2-7pm Class Fee: $65

FRIDAY NIGHT ARTIST SERIES Switch your Friday up a bit and join us for our Friday Night Artist Series featuring a local artesian. In these workshops, you will learn a variety of creative skills from knitting, jewelry making and painting to loc styling and makeup application. SEW CREATIVE KIDS Sew Creative Kids is a fun skill-based sewing program for children ages 8-14 years old. The children will learn basic sewing skills while completing sewing projects such as tote bags, skirts, pants, pillows and more. Supply list available upon registration. Fall Session: September 9-December 16, 2018 Sundays from 12:30 - 2:30PM Wednesdays from 5:00 - 6:30PM Class Fee: $295 SEW CREATIVE CRAFTING This crafting class is for children ages 5-7 years old. Each week the children create craft projects using fabric. The children will create a t-shirt tote bag, fleece blanket and pillow while improving fine motor skills needed for sewing. All materials included. Fall Session 1: September 23, 30, October 7 and 14, 2018 Sundays from 11:30am-1:30pm Class Fee: $75 HOLIDAY CRAFTING Celebrate the holidays with these fun craft activities. This class is appropriate for children and their caregivers ages 5 and above.
