SIP AND SEW DC
We're sipping, we're sewing AND partying! Come join us for Sip and Sew DC's day party where you will learn basic sewing techniques to complete a project while listening to your favorite music and enjoying a glass a wine. The music will have you rocking your way through the event! All materials included plus two complimentary glasses of wine. No experience necessary! Class is from at 3pm - 7pm. Class Fee: $50

BEGINNER SEWING 1 Entry level class for true beginners. Students will learn to make a pillow, tote bag and pull on pajama bottoms. Emphasis will be placed on machine operation and reading a pattern. Spring Session 1: April 9, 16, 23, and 30, 2019 6pm - 9pm Spring Session 2: May 18, June 1, 8, and 15, 2019 10am - 1pm Spring Session 3: June 29, July 13, 20, and 27, 2019 10am - 1pm Class Fee: $150
BEGINNER SEWING 2 This class is designed for students who have a basic knowledge of sewing or have taken our Beginner Sewing 1 class. Students will make two shirts and build the following skills: buttonholes, collar, sleeves and cuff. Spring Session 1: May 18, June 1, 8, and 15, 2019 10am - 1pm Class Fee: $150
BEGINNER SEWING 3 Students will learn to construct and assemble a skirt and a pair of pants. Emphasis will be placed on inserting a zipper, hemming, fitting, construction, buttonholes and top-stitching techniques. Spring Session 1: April 6, 13, 20, and 27, 2019 10am - 1pm Spring Session 2: June 29, July 13, 20, and 27, 2019 10am - 1pm Class Fee: $150

OPEN STUDIO P & SEW DC DAY PARTY
Need help finishing a project? This is the class for you! Open studio is for students who need extra help with unfinished sewing projects, alterations, zippers, buttonholes or any other sewing techniques. Schedule: April 3, April 17, May 1, May 15, June 5 and June 19, 2019 6pm - 9pm Class Fee: $50
SEWING PALOOZA We all have them, and we all need to get them done. This will be the night where you can bring in your sewing project(s) to complete or work on in an exciting sewing environment! This is not a class but you can come in and use the sewing machines, notions and space. Schedule: March 29, April 26 (Quilting Edition), May 31, and June 28, 2019 6pm - 11pm Event Fee: $20
DESIGN SERIES CREATING LATTICE DESIGNS Led by Mama Afia Nson Bonsu, this series focuses on designing and sewing without the use of patterns. During this workshop, students will incorporate lattice work in their designs. Sewing experience required. May 18, 2019 2pm - 7pm Class Fee: $65
SPECIALTY CLASSES SCL KNITTING AND CROCHET GUILD Join us for our monthly SCL Knitting and Crochet Guild meeting. Bring your own project to create amongst fellow knitters and crocheters. April 8, May 13, June 10, July 8, and August 12, 2019 7pm - 9pm Free RAINCOAT ATTIRE There is no better way to gear up for the rain spring season than with a trendy water resistance raincoat or poncho. Basic sewing experience required. March 26, April 2,9, and 23, 2019 6pm - 9pm Class Fee: $150 BLING IT OUT HANDBAG Learn how to make a leather duffle bag for your weekend getaway and bling it out with your choice of studs! Basic sewing experience required. April 6, 13, 20, and 27, 2019 10am - 1pm Class Fee: $150 UPCYCLING EARTH DAY CLASS Bring in one or two garments and transform them into something new using our scrap fabric. We have lots of ideas and projects to choose from or you can bring your own. No sewing experience required. INTRO TO PATTERNMAKING: DRESS EDITION Learn fundamental steps to create basic patterns using flat pattern drafting techniques. Students will create a dress sloper and 2-3 dress patterns. No sewing experience required. April 19, 26, May 3, and 10, 2019 6pm - 9pm Class Fee: $150 KNITTING BASICS Learn the basic knitting techniques -- the knit and purl stitches -- and use them to create a scarf or other rectangular project, such as a washcloth or pillow cover. You'll also learn how to form your stitches using both English and Continental styles, and how to avoid common mistakes. No experience necessary. April 28, May 5, and 19, 2019 1pm - 4pm Class Fee: $95 ALTERATIONS 101 Learn how to do 4 to 6 simple alterations such as hemming pants, repairing a pocket, replacing a zipper, taking in a waistband and so much more. Basic sewing experience required. April 30, May 7, 14 and June 4, 2019 6pm - 9pm Class Fee: $150 SILK PAINTING BASICS Led by master silk artist Diane Tuckman, this workshop will teach 2-3 silk painting techniques. Students will paint four samples with various techniques and leave with a painted scarf. No experience necessary. May 4, 2019 12pm - 5pm Class Fee: $85 PHOTO TRANSFER Student will learn several techniques to photo transfer images to fabric, paper as well as adding images to wood and glass. No experience necessary. May 4, and 11, 2019 10am - 1pm Class Fee: $100 SWIM SUIT CONSTRUCTION It’s finally summer so let’s get ready to head to the beach with a new swim suit created by you. Choose between three different designs to find the best fit. Basic sewing experience required. May 5, and 19, 2019 10am - 3pm Class Fee: $150 SEWING BASICS AND ALTERATIONS FOR MEN Attention Men! Have you ever wanted to learn how to sew and make basic alterations? Then this class is for you! Students will learn how to operate a sewing machine and hand sew, while making alterations and creating two projects such as lounge pants and pocket square. No sewing experience required. May 17, 31, and June 7, 2019 6pm - 9pm Class Fee: $135 HAPPY FEET In this class, students will learn how to attach and use 10-15 different sewing machine feet. Basic sewing experience required. June 11, 25, July 2, and 9, 2019 6pm - 9pm Class Fee: $150 SEWING FROM A DOWNLOADABLE PATTERN Are you interested in learning how to work with a downloadable pattern? In this class, you will learn various tips on how to create garments from online patterns. Basic sewing experience required.
