Celebrating
34 years of wildlife art and
the sporting life, Southeastern Wildlife Exposition has grown to be the largest event of its kind in the nation. With fine art, conservation exhibits, sporting demonstrations, educational programs and special events, SEWE offers a wide variety of displays and activities in venues throughout downtown Charleston.
Charleston Place Hotel Original Wildlife & Sporting Art SEWE will host over one hundred artists in Charleston Place. Kyle Sims of Montana has been chosen as the 2016 Featured Artist and Stefan Savides of Oregon the 2016 Featured Sculptor. We are pleased to welcome Guest Artists John Banovich, Greg Beecham and Brett Smith. Charleston Place Ballroom
Quick Draw / Speed Sculpt and Auction 3 pm, Friday, February 12 – Auction to Follow Witness the imagination, talent and process behind SEWE artists. Watch participating artists paint or sculpt an original piece from start to finish in just one hour. Julie Jeppsen and Heiner Hertling will reunite to create an original painting. Immediately following, a live auction will be held for attendees to bid on the one-of-a-kind paintings and sculptures. Charleston Place Ballroom
Duet & Quartet and Auction 2 pm, Saturday, February 13 – Auction to follow Past Featured Artist Chad Poppleton and D. Lee will paint an original oil painting while sculptors Scott Penegar and David Turner create a piece of sculpture out of clay—all to the background of the Charleston Symphony Orchestra Quartet. Taylor Glenn Photogrpahy Exhibit Jackson Hole photographer, Taylor Glenn, will exhibit portraits of Yellowstone National Park native animals and species native to the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem. This unique collection of photographs displays Glenn’s ability to perfectly capture each subject’s strength, beauty and character. Charleston Place 1

Busch Wildlife Sanctuary
SEWE is proud to be the first annual event in Charleston to utilize the newly renovated Gaillard Center. This superior performance hall and event space will house SEWE’s live performances and outstanding local, regional and national artisans. The exhibits at the Gaillard Center will feature a varied mix of creations, including handcrafted furniture, leather goods, woodworks, outfitters, and knife makers.
Busch Wildlife Sanctuary will introduce the wonders of the natural ecosystems and give SEWE attendees an up-close look at animals ranging from alligators, bobcats and foxes to birds of prey, snakes and much more. Seating is first-come, first-served. See schedule for times.

Presented by Boeing Television personality, author, and conservationist, Jack Hanna joins us once again to entertain and delight SEWE attendees at the Gaillard Center. One of the most visible and respected animal ambassadors in the world, Jack’s enthusiasm and “hands-on” approach to wildlife conservation has won him widespread acclaim. In addition to frequent appearances on programs including Late Night with David Letterman, Jack hosts the three time Emmy Award winning Jack Hanna’s Into the Wild. The Orianne Society Reptiles and amphibians are an integral part of our ecosystem. Two Tank DockDogs® Competitions
SEWE has three continuous loops for ticket and badge holders and two VIP express shuttles for badge holders only. Shuttles are for your convenience but please note bus times can be unpredictable due to traffic. Many venues are walkable (see map). SEWE shuttles operate from 9:45 am through 30 minutes after close of show Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
Once again, SEWE is proud to host the only two tank DockDogs® event east of the Mississippi. Watch dogs of all kinds and skill levels compete in various water jumping competitions in side-by-side tanks. “Waves” of competition held throughout Friday, Saturday and Sunday, with finals Sunday afternoon. Sporting Village Meet hunting, fishing and safari guides, outdoor outfitters and land professionals and check out boats, ATVs and a host of John Deere tractors. Charleston Angler will hold fly fishing and cast net demonstrations for children and adults. See schedule for times.
SEWE shuttle is provided at no additional cost for SEWE ticket and badge holders during show hours. Handicap accessible transportation is available; please request the Durham Bus Service representative for assistance. Additional parking near Brittlebank will be available on February 13 & February 14 for a flat rate of $5. Follow signage on Lockwood Blvd. to the lot behind the police station on Fishburne Street.

Educational Programs Southeastern Wildlife Roundtable Discussion 2–3:30 pm, Friday, February 12 Every day, the staff and board members of SCDNR, along with counterparts in neighboring states, are tasked with the protection and management of our natural resources. This informal discussion among some of these most dedicated stewards will provide insight into current issues, highlight recent success stories and offer an exchange of ideas. The auction will consist of mostly Atlantic Coast decoys including examples by Elmer Crowell, the Ward Brothers, Ned Burgess, William Bowman, Ira Hudson, Lee Dudley, Mark McNair and many other carvers. Junior Duck Stamp Art Contest Sponsored by South Carolina Ducks Unlimited Once again, SEWE partnered with SCDNR and the US Fish & Wildlife for the 2016 SC Junior Duck Stamp Contest. Combining science and art, this program teaches K-12 students about waterfowl and wetlands conservation.
