GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION Under supervision, Performs simple clerical and general office duties involving specific routines; sorts and distributes mail; delivers materials and supplies between various departments; operates simple office machines and equipment; and performs related duties as required. Requires limited responsibility for making routine contacts on non-specialized matters with employees of other departments and the general public; maintains simple office records and performs simple tallying or checking operations in connection therewith.

This position is represented by the SEIU Local 21. Observes and enforces San Francisco Housing Authority rules and regulations.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Any combination of education, experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge and skills. A typical way, but not the only way to obtain these would be: KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS        

Maintain simple office records by transferring data, calculating totals, compiling summaries, and making routine entries; proof-reads reports. Insert and extracts materials from established numerical or alphabetical files and prepares new file folders in accordance with specific instructions. Greet the public and provides routine information. Open, date/time-stamps and sorts mail; delivers mail, packages, messages, documents, inter-departmental memoranda and other materials and supplies to various offices; delivers mail to inter-offices and may deliver to post office, registers and returns receipt to originating department when requested. Maintain simple inventory records of office supplies and equipment; takes inventory on a regular basis. Operates routine office equipment and machinery such as computer, fax, copy equipment; maintains such equipment. Typing may be required as part of the job duties; creating labels, typing correspondences, etc. Perform related duties as required.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND LICENSURE 

Requires completion of High School or an equivalent combination of training and experience; AND


Requires six (6) months of clerical experience; OR o Completion of a clerical training program of 240 hours; OR o The equivalent of fifteen (15) semester units in graded clerical college units; OR o Fifteen (15) semester units of course work from an accredited college or university; an equivalent combination of training, experience and/or education. Possession of a Valid California driver’s license.

Sensitivity to and experience working with ethnically and culturally diverse individuals, communities, agencies and organizations that comprise the constituency of the San Francisco Housing Authority.

SELECTION PLAN Applicants meeting the minimum qualifications will be administered an examination that may consist of any combination of written, oral or other exercises or assessment procedures that evaluate, knowledge, skill, ability or qualifications. Applicants must pass each phase of the process to be placed on the list that will be used to fill vacancies. The Authority may without notice, change or eliminate any particular assessment component or combination of components as the needs of the Agency dictate. This position is represented by SEIU-1021. According to the provisions of the MOU, the top three (3) names on the eligible list will be provided to the hiring department to fill vacancies. Candidates can refuse up to two (2) offers before removal from list. Employment offers are contingent upon documentation of the right to work in the United States and a criminal record check.
