San Francisco, California, Operation Dream and the San Francisco Police Department are bringing the spirit of the holidays to children living in family sites throughout the San Francisco Housing Authority’s housing developments. Thousands of toys, from the good old fashioned pig skins and dodge balls, to the most “du jour” toys of the season are being distributed to children ages zero to 12 years thanks to the efforts of the non profit organization, Operation Dream founded by civilians and police officers who want to make the holiday brighter for youth in San Francisco, in partnership with the men and women of the San Francisco Police Department. “We want to make the holiday season a magical time for our kids. Having some fun new toys to play with over the winter break from school and into the new year is great for our families,” said Chief Greg Suhr, San Francisco Police Department. This is the 17th Annual Operation Toy Giveaway in San Francisco. Distribution begins December 17th 2011 and will occur all week. For the schedule of parties and toy giveaways please call the numbers above. “It is an honor and a privilege to collaborate with Operation Dream and the San Francisco Police Department and all the members of the community who come together to help our kids. The SFHA wishes everyone a very joyous and safe holiday season,” said Mr. Henry Alvarez III, Executive Director, of the San Francisco Housing Authority. To donate a toy please drop them off in bins located at each Police Station or contact 415558-5505.
