Championship Format: Fifty-four holes of individual stroke play. All players play eighteen holes each on the North and south Golf Courses at The Club at Mediterra on September 25th and 26th. The field will be cut to 40% of the field and ties after thirty-six holes. The final eighteen holes will be played on the South Course. The lowest score after fiftyfour holes will be the champion. Should there be a tie after fifty-four holes for the overall champion, final qualifying spot or order of the five alternates, a sudden death playoff will take place on holes to be determined by the committee. Qualifying Spots: The SFPGA has been awarded twelve (12) qualifying spots and five (5) alternate spots for the 2019 PGA Professional National Championship which will be contested April 28th-May 1st, 2019 at Belfair in Blufton, South Carolina. Tee Times & Groupings: Tee times and pairings groups will be arranged and posted on the SFPGA website at www.sfpgagolf.com on Friday, September 21st. Tee times will begin at 8:00 AM off both the 1st and 10th (11th North) tees at both courses for rounds one and two, and on the South Course round three. NOTE: After the first round, players will be re-paired for the second round based on scores from round one utilizing a reverse horseshoe with leaders going off last on hole #1. Practice Rounds & Practice Facilities: Please call the facility in advance to reserve practice times. You can reach the club by phone at (239) 254-3030 to schedule your time. The South Course availability is as follows: • •
Open September 20 – 23. Please be sure to phone the club for specific times. All golf cars must be in by 6 PM September 24th, available after 12:00 PM. All golf cars must be in by 5 PM.
The North Course availability is as follows: •
September 24th the course will host Tournament Series #2.
Charges: Purchases may be made using a credit card only. Food and Beverage: Club Car, Golf Life Research/Navigators, and Whistling Straits will be sponsoring a complimentary lunch for all players after each tournament round. In addition, food and beverage will be available to players for purchase at both facilities. Dress Code: Male participants are required to wear slacks, have shirts tucked in and hats worn properly while on the golf course. The wearing of mock turtle neck shirts designed for golf is NOT permitted. All shirts must have a collar. Players must adhere to the South Florida PGA dress code. The wearing of shorts by male professionals is prohibited during all official practice and competitive rounds for the Section Championship. Equipment Count: Section staff will administer an equipment count at the range prior to round one of the championship and sharing that information with supporting sponsors. Grooves: The PGA of America has adopted the condition of competition for Grooves and/or Punch Marks at the Section level (qualifying stages) of this championship. Then enter your club’s information and submit. GPS and Range Finders: In this competition, a player may obtain distance information by using a device that measures distance ONLY. However, if, during a stipulated round, a player uses a distance-measuring device that is
designed to gauge or measure other conditions that might affect his play (e.g., gradient, wind-speed, temperature, etc.), the player is in breach of Rule 14-3, for which the penalty is disqualification.

BOCA GROVE GOLF CLUB AND THE POLO CLUB OF BOCA RATON HOST ANNUAL HIGH SCHOOL CHAMPIONSHIP On Friday and Saturday, September 28th -29th twenty-eight High School teams and seventeen individuals from all across south Florida competed in the 2nd Annual South Florida PGA High School Championship supported by Callaway, Florida Institute of Performance, and Florida Gulf Coast University PGA GMU Program at Boca Grove Golf Club and the Polo Club of Boca Raton. The team of American Heritage Plantation captured the overall girls title by shooting an impressive two-day team total of 600. HEASLIP WINS SOUTH FLORIDA PGA SENIOR PROFESSIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP Dan Heaslip, PGA Director of Golf at Windstar on Naples Bay shot a two day total 6-under 138 Friday to win the SFPGA Senior Section Championship supported by Center State Bank, Jupiter Medical Center, GolfAdvisor and John Deere. WARREN BOTTKE, PGA AND BRENDAN CUNNINGHAM ELECTED TO SOUTH FLORIDA PGA HALL OF FAME Warren Bottke, PGA and Brendan Cunningham are the newest members to be elected into the South Florida PGA Hall of Fame. They will be recognized at the SFPGA Annual Awards and Hall of Fame Dinner set to be held November 13th. Bottke and Cunningham will be the 40th and 41st inductees into the South Florida PGA Hall of Fame, created in 2002.

MARK VANDYCK, PGA ELECTED AS DISTRICT 13 DIRECTOR SFPGA Honorary Past President Mark VanDyck was elected as the new District 13 Director. On August 29th, eight Past Presidents of the South Florida PGA visited the Section Office to meet with the current officers sharing stories from their time on the board and learning about the growth the Section has had over the last 40 years. Those who visited the office included: Roger Kennedy Sr. (83-85), Lynn Josephson (89-91), John Nelson (99-01), Mike McLellan (01-03), Tom Wildenhaus (03-05), Jim Kurtzeborn (05-07), Brian Peaper (11-13), and Mark VanDyck (15-17). We would like to thank all our Past Presidents for their service over the years.
FALL TEAM GOLF We are so excited to kick off our fall season of Team Golf! There are five events in each league; Palm Beach, Broward and Lee & Collier. PGA HOPE PROGRAMS ARE IN FULL SWING! Two of our PGA HOPE programs are off and running! HOPE Plantation had their first lesson this past Saturday and HOPE West Palm Beach participants recently got on the course at Okeeheelee Golf Course during their third week of lessons. Between the two courses over twenty veterans are receiving free golf lessons from local PGA Professionals. However, we could use your help providing for our nationâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s heroes. We are always collecting golf clubs, bags and clothes for our PGA HOPE participants. If you or your facility has any of these items to donate please contact Michelle Goda at mgoda@pgahq.com.
2019 RULES OF GOLF WORKSHOP REGISTRATION OPENS TOMORROW With the modernization to the Rules of Golf coming in 2019, the Florida State Golf Association will be hosting nearly 60 One-Day Workshops starting in October of 2018 and going through March of 2019. ISAACS/BERNARD & HENRY/MILLER WIN 2018 TEXTRON GOLF PROSUPERINTENDENT On Friday, August 24th, the SFPGA Pro-Superintendent presented by Textron Golf and supported by Chase 54, Engel Coolers, and Tagmarshal took place at The Club at Ibis – Legend Course. Multiple rain delays limited the event to 15 holes. In the Net Division, PGA Associate Corey Henry and Superintendent Ed Miller both of the Country Club of Coral Springs fired a 13-under par to win the overall net championship. In the Gross Division, Jared Isaacs, PGA Director of Instruction and Superintendent Steve Bernard both out of Adios Golf Club carded an 11-under par capturing the overall gross title. PALM BEACH COUNTY JR. LEAGUE TEAM HEADS TO REGIONALS The Palm Beach County Jr. League Team won the PGA Jr. League Section Championship presented by National Car Rental at Turtle Creek Club on August 25th. Forty junior golfers, forming 4 All-Star Teams, competed for a spot at the PGA Jr. League Regional Competition. The Palm Beach County All Star team consisted of 10 junior golfers, coached by Don and Diana Law, Mary Lee Cobick and Chester Nowak , will be competing at the Regional Competition at World Golf Village in St. Augustine at the end of September. CHALLENGE CUP / SENIOR CHALLENGE CUP CAPTAINS Congratulations to Danny St. Louis, PGA Director of Golf at The Breakers Rees Jones Course for being chosen as the 2018 Challenge Cup Captain and Rick Whitfield, Life Member for being chosen as the Senior Challenge Cup Captain. The Challenge Cup matches will take place on October 16th-17th at The Old Collier Golf Club and the Senior Challenge Cup will be played on October 31st- November 1st at Lakewood National Golf Club.
PRO-SCRATCH CHAMPIONSHIP The Pro-Scratch Championship presented by PXG and Discover Global Network and supported by Bushnell Golf, CamelBak, Global Golf Sales, 18 Birdies and Winners Award Group has been rescheduled to Friday, August 31st at Broken Sound Club – Old Course. Due to withdrawals, we are re-opening the registration and will be accepting a limited number of entries. The entries will be accepted on a first come first serve basis. The two-person team event is a four-ball stroke play format and tee times will run from 7:30 AM to 1

DRIVE, CHIP AND PUTT HEADS TO REGIONALS Drive, Chip and Putt has come to an end for the South Florida Section. A total of 1,003 kids competed in qualifiers all over south Florida and 32 participants will be moving on to compete at TPC Sawgrass on September 29th in the Drive Chip and Putt Regional Competition. Thank you to all of our volunteers and host facilities for helping us conduct these incredible events this year!
PGA JUNIOR LEAGUE SEASON COMES TO A CLOSE PGA Jr. League is wrapping up their season this weekend at the PGA Jr. League Section Championship on Saturday. 500 juniors competed this summer in leagues all throughout south Florida. On Sunday August 19th, 90 of those juniors, forming 9 teams, were selected to be all stars and compete in the PGA Jr. League Section Championship Qualifier. The top 4 teams from this qualifier; Indian River Golf Foundation, Sandhill Crane, Palm Beach County, and Stoneybrook/Tiburon/Forest, advanced and will be competing at our Section Championship this Saturday at Turtle Creek Club. One team will be moving on to represent South Florida at the PGA Jr. League Regional Championship at World Golf Village in St. Augustine, FL on September 22nd - 23rd .
