We are Family Every beginning of December, we can feel the happiness surround us. Why this kind of atmosphere is exist and sustaining with us? Everyone knows the answer that it is an annual festival commemorating the birth of Jesus Christ. No matter whoever believes the God or not, everyone participates with this salvation of gladness and enjoys the peace and joy. Therefore, we host a celebration to commemorate the birth of Jesus Christ at the beginning of December every year in order to make seafarers and fishermen inspire with enthusiasm. It seems like the love of Jesus Christ within the big family as we enjoy the fantastic peace and joy. We hosted this fantastic and meaningful event on December fifth this year. We had the Christmas feast at the beginning of this event. The main purpose of the feast is that not only satiates our stomach but also knows each other. We hope everyone can treat like a family and enjoy the physical need of our body which is given by the God. The area of the event was surrounding with groups of people at that moment while everyone was chatting each other. Even though some of them did not know each other before the event, they get along with very well after the meeting and chatting. This is one of the objectives of hosting this event. People can build a good relationship and become a big family. Here came the important topic of the event after the feast. Attracted by Mr. Cheng and Chang Hui‘s naturally and diligently song of poetry, the audience listened to the song silently. At that moment, Mr. Cheng took the chance to share Gospel of Jesus Christ with the audience by the clear and affirmative attitude. This manner inspired people whoever came from Philippines, Indonesia or Taiwan with different religious and imprinted the Gospel of Jesus Christ’s love into their mind during their life journey. This is our ultimate goal of hosting this event. Mr. Cheng and Chang Hui fulfilled this mission and shared the grace of the God to people. That why we primary wanted to invite Mr. Cheng and Chang to be responsible for this Gospel delivery. The way they did is not for the purpose of earning revenue or show off their talent but for the purpose of sharing the Jesus Christ’s love and lead the people to back to the God.

We noticed a main point from this event. The effort of cooperation will be great than the individual. People will understand how the sweet and motivate it is through the help, support and care with others. It will also make people to experience the meaning of love. The co-workers of our center need to experience the mission and responsibility while providing the service of seafarers and fishermen. We need to know every glory will be attributing to the God. Fishing port before Christmas It’s the harvest days of fishing squid and it’s also the moment close to Christmas every the end of a year. The center prepared a feast by this time to celebrate the Christmas and to show consideration to those oversea fishermen. We hope to provide a space of expressing fisherman’s mind in order to show that there are people who concern about them at this strange place. We also want to reduce the conflicts between each other because of wandering around. We promoted it a week before of the feast. We found that the numbers of fishing ship was quite rare and most of them had already gone. The Taiwan Squid Fishery Association told us that there were only two ships stayed inside the port while others might be back depends on the catches. This made me really worry about it what if there were less people would come over because we don’t want to waste too much of food. Thanks to the God. There were almost one hundred and fifty participants. It’s almost the same number as we estimated. With regard to the program of feast, priest Cheng recommended Mr. Chen’s Samuel worship team to be the main program. Mr. Chen is the composer who composed many songs. I had no idea about how they will display the show and colleges are worry about it as well. We also worry that there might be lack of attendance if the show is not hilarious. However, the Samuel worship team got applause after the first performance. The whole show was remarkable with the combination of poetry and Mr. Chen’s manifestation. It’s really a wonderful performance. At the end, I want to appreciate the priest and all the colleges of this center who support me and forgive my ignorance so that I can get used to deal with problems of the feast quickly. Besides, I also want to thanks to the volunteers and sponsors. The feast will not able to host successfully without everyone’s help. Thank you! Translated by Chien-Hang Wei
