Design Brief: • For this project, I will be transforming this dull land into an area that is more modern for the surroundings. The surrounding area is filled with various types of people from old to young and households with families so I would like to create a space that incorporates everyone. My idea is to: ▪ Leisure & Entertainment/Sports/ wellbeing centre. ▪ Themes: Geometric and assembly.

• Changing rooms.

Requirements:

specifications

• Lounge area.

The buildingwill have multipledifferent sections that are going to be for many different ages from 4 to 90. However, the gym area would only be open to 16 and above.

• Parking areas.

Target audience:

• Eco-friendly power e.g., solar panels.

• Reception.

• Washrooms.

• Spaces for all ages.

My objective is to create a leisure centre that is very contrasted in colours but also something that incorporates the surrounding environments but also including modern buildings to modernise the area.

• Café.

Objective:

• Disabled access.

• Fun activities.

Additionally, the area has also had plans for extra woodland and habitats built for various animals on both the land and in the nearby lake.

Currently in the area there are no nearby leisure centres, however it is also located next to the M25 which would allow for greater access and combined with all the pathways for cyclists and walking it will be the perfect place to improve.

The area is currently open the public as it allows people to have a network or walking and cycling routes.

My location is the Belhus Country Park.

Due to there being a clear canvas, there's a lot of space for different designs for example like different elevations of the building. There are some possible limitations for example a telephone pole which could get in the way of the plan also the long road has great access for cars and other types of transport and will still allow for the public to use the other parts of the surrounding area.

I feel that Japanese architecture is very solace as it adapts nature into its design and allows for a more natural environment which is something I want to include in my designs.

Research into interior spaces

LC Swansea uses various levels to make the space feel more dynamic and add different heights to view the interior. The different shapes and style of the interior helps with allowing users to move around the site quicker and the flow is a lot smoother also the bright colours combined with the light for example colours like blue help create relaxing atmospheres

The gym space creates an earthy atmosphere by using natural material such as wood, this would be useful as the site I am designing on will be used by many people from the community and wildlife so I would like to incorporatethe environmentinto my design. The design of this buildingis connected vertically instead of a horizontal plain like typical gym interiors due to the tight site restraints however this adds to the experience of the site. The site also uses natural light which could help expand the interior design to look more spacious than it is but also enhances the overall materials of the room.
