Brownstone Housing Brownstone began to be used in New York on public buildings in the early fifties, and just on the eve of the war it was first used as a facing for brick houses. With this alteration came dark walnut furniture, instead of rosewood and mahogany, sombre wall papers and interiors whose dark tones swallowed up the light introduced slightly

My concept for the family unit was separating public and private spaces both for the building and the individual units. Since it is a residential building I minimize the public spaces and maximize the private spaces and organize the views towards the NY skyline and Governor’s Island.
