Love Note

What does being Married mean?

Editorial Director

eing married means more than just wearing a diamond ring and having a beautiful wedding. Remember there is life after the wedding! Before you say “YES” you need to make sure this is the person YOU want to spend the rest of your life with. Now I am very aware of the things that can happen later down the road in a marriage. Sometimes situations can cause people to change then you must do what’s best for you. But I’m not talking about those situations, take Kim Kardashian for instance. She had doubts before she walked down the aisle but she went ahead with it because “She didn’t want to disappoint anyone”. What about because I can’t party like I used to or s/he has gained weight. Now I’m not trying to steer anyone from getting married I love wedding and everything they represent I just want to make sure that you marry for LOVE and not for fashion. Listen, everyday won’t be funny but with love you can weather the storm together. In the vows it says“To have and to hold from this day forward, for better for worse, for richer for poorer, in sickness and in health” to me this is the most important part.

Beauty Editor Kobe Ellis

B

So when he gets on one knee and asks you to marry him and you say yes, your journey begins. It’s a beautiful thing to find Love but once you find it hold on to it. While you’re dancing the night away at you reception with all your family and friends, glance across the room and find your husband/ wife and whisper “I will love you from this day forward!

Ladies

Spring symbolizes rebirth, life, growth. Therefore, it is no wonder that spring and summer are peak seasons for weddings. Start your new life on the right foot with these seven ways to put a SPRING in your step. 1: Three months prior to the big day every bride should begin an individualized skin treatment regiment. A good esthetician will be able to help her condition her skin so that her wedding day glow is absolutely radiant. She can use this time to work on any blemishes, wrinkles, under eye bags or dark circles. If she is wearing her back or chest out this is the perfect time to work on evening her skin tone and clearing acne. 2 A month and a half before the wedding the bride-tobe should begin wearing different looks for makeup. It isn’t always easy to decide which colors work best for you, which makeup brands work best on camera (lighting issues) etc. If a makeup artist will not be present through the length of her events for the day, she will need to practice wearing and touching up her makeup throughout the day. 3 Teeth Whitening is always suggested. This is something that both the bride and groom should begin looking into a few months prior to the wedding. It takes a little time to research products and many dentists book at least two months in advance. It may even be a great idea to have her teeth whitened before engagements picture. 4 Body Detox is a MUST. Body detoxification cleanses the body’s systems aids in the process of firming and smoothing skin. It also stimulates circulation and reduces fluid retention. Focusing on the colon is essential because in addition to it contribution to a healthy body, colon detoxification will help the bride in flattening her stomach on her big day. Several treatments once or twice a week as recommended by a detox specialist is suggested at least a month before the wedding. 5 Body wraps are the icing on the cake! Body wraps help to tone and tighten the skin by reducing water weight. If a bride is wearing a strapless, short or form fitting gown this is a great way to tone, her legs, arms, flatten the belly, decrease body fat in her back etc. Body wrapping reduces the appearance of cellulite and aids in body sculpting. If she has great discipline, a bride should have treatment 2-3 days before. If not the day before the wedding is best. 6 No bridal pampering is complete without a great Mani- Pedi treatment. The choices and treatment are endless. The most important advice in this treatment is to choose a sanitary environment. Be aware that a visit to your every day nail salon may not be the wisest decision. The stories of nail salon tragedies are mounting by the day.

7 I would be remiss if I did not mention the importance of treating yourself to a beautiful body waxing or threading experience. There are parts of the body where it is imperative that there be no visible hair. Places such as underarms, hands and feet. Legs and arms are really a personal choice for the bride. Beautiful brows are a must so I suggest that you begin trying out different technicians around 3 months before the wedding as to avoid a possible embarrassing display on your most treasured day. Boudoir 10 Tips for a Successful Boudoir Shoot

Boudoir sessions are tasteful photos that hint at sexiness. Every person has their own idea of what sexy is as well as what they are comfortable with. So you’ve decided to do a boudoir photography session, either as a gift to your fiance or yourself: Congrats! Here are some tips to help you have the best experience possible: 24

Shadesmag.net - Spring 2012

1. Collect as many inspiration photos as possible. Good sources are photographer’s websites, the PW boards, magazines like Maxim, or even lingerie websites like Victoria’s Secret. Then email them to your photographer so they can help you recreate the shots you love. 2. Find a photographer that you feel comfortable with. In many cases, brides will feel more comfortable with a female photographer than a male. Meet with them before hand to make sure they have a good personality and that they seem fun and engaging. Ask to see prior boudoir shots if they have them to make sure their style suits you. 3. If money is an issue, be sure to find a photographer that gives you your images on a CD so that you can order your own photobook. Many photographers do not offer this option, so be sure that your does. 4. If you live in an area that does not offer many boudoir photography options, email around. Be sure to contact those photographers who do not advertise boudoir services. Many times these photographers will offer less expensive options for just as good of a product. You may even be lucky enough to find a photographer who is just starting out with boudoir photography that may be willing to do the shoot for free in exchange for the ability to use your photos in their portfolio. 5. Brings LOTS of outfits. Remember to bring accessories, shoes, stockings, and props too! Bring more than you think you will need. It’s always better to have too many things with you than to be thinking, “I wish I’d brought that!”

25

Shadesmag.net - Spring 2012

6. Wear loose clothing to the shoot. If you wear tight underwear or pants, you may have pressure lines that will show up in photos. If you are worried about messing up your hair, wear a button up shirt. 7. Give yourself plenty of time before and after the shoot. Make sure your entire day is free so that you are not worried about time. If you are stressed, it could show in your photos. Most shoots take between an hour and two hours, but remember to factor in driving time, the time it will take to get ready, and the time it will take after the shoot to get home and put everything away neatly as to not tip off your fiance. 8. Wear what you already own! It is not necessary to go buy a whole new wardrobe for the shoot. Many times you will realize that you own plenty of sexy items already. If you really want to buy something new for the shoot, go for a new pair of heels or piece of jewelry that you can return afterwards (this strategy is not recommended for lingerie). 9. Be who you are and don’t be anything you aren’t. It is not a requirement that you be nude or even partially nude if you are not comfortable. Also, make sure your hairstyle and makeup reflects who you are, just a little sexier than everyday. Don’t feel you have to have your hair or makeup done in a way that is totally not you- your fiance should recognize you in these photos! 10. Have a blast! No matter what flaws you think you have, remember that you are a sexy woman! Your fiance wouldn’t be marrying you if you weren’t!

One-on-One with

Ana Cruz

Planning a wedding can be very stressful and time consuming to say the least. There are countless details to arrange, prices to check, vendors to interview, and venues to visit. Modern day brides are full time career women who lack the time and know-how to successfully plan and manage events effectively. Enter the angel on Earth, the event planner! Event planners have a wealth of creative ideas and connections to bring your vision to fruition. Most event planners have relationships with vendors and can negotiate the best bang for your buck. Organization, penchant for detail, and enthusiasm is a must when looking for you event planner. That is just what you’ll get from Ana Cruz! You may recognize our event planner extraordinaire from Style Network’s “Who’s Wedding Is It Anyway?” Ana’s innate gift for design, experience, and dynamic personality makes her one of the most sought after event planners in South Florida! SWM: Ana, We remember you from “Who’s Wedding Is It Anyway?” How has life or business changed for you since then? AC: Life is good! Reality television served as great exposure for me. It provided me with an opportunity to showcase what I do for a living. As a planner, I work really hard and it nice that after a hard day that I can be out and about and someone recognizes me. They’ve approached me and said, “You did a really good job on that wedding!” So being able to get praise like that is great! From a business standpoint, there are a lot of destination brides that are looking to wed in Miami or other places. These brides are a little apprehensive about hiring someone that they don’t know. When people see you on television the feel like they know you. So now I get a ton of business from all over, not just South Florida! SWM: What was your most memorable experience? AC: One of the most memorable things in my career obviously would be having the opportunity to showcase my work all over the world. I have connections with people all over. There is a planner here (International Bridal Week) today from Africa that I met because of the show. I was able to help a fellow planner launch her business in Australia. Another highlight was when I went to Kauai last year to do a wedding for the gentleman who won Survivor in 2007. So we had a really fun time planning that wedding. There are many times when the bride and groom don’t agree on things so in this situation anytime there was a disagreement there was a competition. The bride and groom competed against each other to gain control over different details of the wedding It was really fun! I’ve been very blessed to have the career that I have and to have met the people that I have, such as yourself. I have had many speaking engagements, I’ve mentored other planners, and traveled. I’m not greater than anyone else, I’ve just been afforded the opportunity to have my work out there! It’s really rewarding! SWM: How important is it to have a wedding planner? AC: I think it is really critical to have a planner if a bride wants to really enjoy her day and disconnect from the stress. Keep in mind that a good wedding planner has relationships with vendors so they will negotiate the best rates. With vendors, planners have an advantage over brides. A good experience between a vendor and a planner is almost a promise of multiple events versus the one wedding for the bride so they are more willing to go above and beyond. I don’t take commission from my vendors. I ask that they pass the savings on to my bride. I try to save them at least a quarter of what my fee is. I recently did a wedding in Mexico where they saved 300 percent of what they paid me! So in essence they had a free planner. I’m very frugal with other peoples money. If a bride absolutely can not afford a planner that is understandable; but at that point they really need to beShadesmag.net certain that they- Spring work with vendors that are reputable. Give them concrete instructions and then just put it in God’s hand on wedding day. 32 2012

SWM: How does a bride know when they have picked the right wedding planner? AC: When they feel like that planner is a friend. When they feel like they can speak to the planner freely and communicate what they like and do not like. I have actually been hired by brides who fired their previous planners because they felt that the planner was hijacking their wedding and not listening to them. SWM: For a bride on a budget, what is the one thing that the bride can cut corners on. AC: A bride can save by taking a second look at her guest list. I see more and more brides sacrificing their dream wedding so that they can feed 200 people, half of them who they don’t even know that well! So at the end of the day I think you can skimp on their “friends”. Weigh out your options. Feed this associate for $100 or get that really cool centerpiece you wanted. You decide! Do you have a beautiful intimate wedding with everything you want or a blow out “party” for others to enjoy? SWM: What would you not suggest skimping on? AC: I would not suggest that you cut costs on the photographer. At the end of the day all you have are those memories. SWM: What are some new trends for spring and summer? AC: You know I’m not really into trends. If you’re following a trend then you’re doing what everybody else is doing. I think to really customize a wedding you can’t do that. If you want to have fall colors in the summer, do it! The one trend that I love is brides “owning” their day! They are not following books written by someone 50 years ago. I see brides taking risks! SWM: What is next for your brand? AC: What’s next...... global domination! I just really want to improve the industry. I want to be a role model. I want upcoming planners know this is not a glamorous job. Sometimes I’m at a venue cleaning floors at 1:00 in the morning so that my client can get her deposit back. I want people to know that planners are still necessary in this day and age of do it yourself.

Wedding Dress Trends of 2012

By: Lissahn DeVance

There were two major weddings in 2011. One real, the other not so much, but both we loved. There was, of course, the real Royal Wedding of William and Kate. It was anticipated by all and many of us set our alarm clocks to watch it first hand. Then we have the “Twilight” Wedding of Bella and Edward. This too was a highly anticipated wedding with the wedding dress, for the first time ever, being reproduced by the designer for brides to purchase. Both are sure to start new trends in wedding fashion for 2012 that we’re all too happy to see. What can we expect to see this year? 1.

55

Long Sleeves! Since Kate Middleton walked down the aisle in a classic, yet elegant long sleeved, lace dress, we began to have a lot more respect and appreciation for lace and long sleeves.

Shadesmag.net - Spring 2012

2. Illusion Necklines! Let’s face it, strapless isn’t for everybody but the illusion neckline gives you the sense of a strapless gown with the added addition of a little more fabric for one to feel more comfort able. 3.

Lace! Lace is one of those fabrics that have been around for a very long time. Many of us have even seen something made of lace in our grandparent’s home and something we really wouldn’t have con sidered wearing. Now days, it’s becoming more and more prevalent in a wedding gown.

4. Statement Backs! Sometimes a bride just wants to show off her curves and is more than comfortable doing so. Having the back of the dress that’s equally stunning as the front shows some added confi dence. 5.

Blush Pink! Having a white or ivory wedding gown just isn’t for everyone. Sometimes brides like to make a statement or show more of their personality by adding a little color to their wedding gowns.

Fashion overall, changes from year to year and brides are constantly looking to incorporate their style and the latest trends into their wedding day attire. From colored gowns to bringing back something from the past, we’re always looking to see what the latest fashion trends are and how they’re incorporated into the wedding world. No matter your style, it’s your wedding day and you should always do what makes you comfortable and, more importantly, happy. Trends are constantly changing but there is always a way to incorporate your personal 56 with Shadesmag.net style every one.- Spring 2012

Sweet tooth!

Want to add a little something special for your guest? Try a candy buffet!

There are so many trends when it comes to wedding accessories, some of which are cute table decorations, a seashell at each setting, a personalized shot glass, etc. However, too many of those cute ideas quickly go unappreciated by your guests. Something the guest will actually use, enjoy, and appreciate is a wedding candy buffet! One of the great things about doing a candy buffet is that the candy is not only a unique wedding favor, it also serves as part of the food, decoration, personal themes, and fun spirit of the wedding. When picking your candy, consider your wedding colors and theme. There are lots of websites that have candy available by color or by theme. The types of candy, shapes, and colors can all be used to solidify your wedding decor. Think of it as your final, and tasty, way to tie the wedding all together. Any theme can also be made more noticeable and memorable 57 Shadesmag.net - Spring 2012 by expanding it to your candy selection; for

example, custom fortune cookies might work well with an Asian theme. Many candies can have a name, message, or even photo printed on it. Presentation of the candy buffet is also a form of decoration. Display the candies at different heights in at least 7 different candy jars, vases, bowls, etc... A few dessert stands can easily give you the different levels. Put an interesting scoops in each candy variety. Add a few wonderfully whimsical signs and you have an interesting and delightful tablescape. The sky is the limit... get creative.

Communication Killed Assumption Written by: Enitan Bereola, II In today’s news, assumption was found dead and communication has been arrested in connection with the murder. The miscommunication of male and female relations has led to debate, divorce and death. Man and woman’s understanding of each other is only half the battle. Communication with the opposite sex is like trying to send a text message with a Metro PCS phone on a plane – you attempt delivery, but it just won’t go through. The main problem with a lack of communication is that it forces people to jump to their own conclusions. Ladies want to know the way men think. They’d like to know why we have double standards, why we lie and lead them on, why we’re not upfront, why we’re so afraid to commit, why we don’t completely answer questions, why we have a hard time communicating and when there will be an answer to all of these questions. When men refuse to address the issues, women begin to assume the answers. Some women think a few dinner dates and some intimacy makes a man her boyfriend, while the man is simply enjoying her company. She then begins to expect much more than her date is willing 59offer because Shadesmag.net - Spring 2012 two to they’re communicating

different things. That’s the problem that most men have with women today. We simply don’t understand how “yes” can mean “no” and why “nothing is wrong” means something is definitely wrong and it needs to be addressed not now, but right now. When she says, “just kidding,” she’s telling the damn truth. When she points out something sweet another man does, she wants you to do it too – but make sure you do it better. Telling her she’s acting crazy is the worst way to get her to stop acting crazy. If she looks upset, she’s upset; and she’s mad at you for you not knowing why she’s mad at you. If she asks, “Is that what you’re wearing,” she probably wants you to change. Sometimes she pushes you away to see if you’re willing to come forward. If she leaves upset, follow her. When she cries, it’s best to hold her tight and not say a word. Women test our reactions; they observe and judge our every action, expression, word and gesture. She notices how long it takes you to respond to a text message and analyzes why it took that long. Women create a connection and sense of intimacy through communication; her personal questions aren’t intended to invade your privacy so

don’t be afraid to open up. If you don’t know how to open up, start by actually answering her questions. A great way to emotionally connect to a woman is to simply let her in. Create a way for her to feel something. Share personal stories that she can relate to. The neurons in her brain will actually generate the same response as if she was right there with you sharing the experience. A woman puts into a relationship exactly what she expects out of it. You can’t watch football with the cable unplugged – you can’t function in a relationship with you unplugged. Relationships are useless with no connection. Communication is cable. Women really aren’t as complicated as we make them out to be – they just want to be loved and express that much differently than men. A woman wants more than anything else to feel emotion. That’s why she tells us about her day when we don’t feel like being bothered or ask us all sorts of detailed questions when we think it’s unnecessary. To her, communication is a way of emotionally connecting on a level deeper than surface. Mental stimulation is better than sex … chivalry is foreplay.

Finance

Resurrect your finances The first thing that you must do in order to begin the recovery process is recognize the fact that you are not alone. Financial problems are not as rare as they used to be. Some of the most well-known individuals and companies have suffered through financial problems recently. In order to learn and move on in your life, you have to realize that we all make mistakes, we all face problems, and it could happen to anyone. This is reassuring because we often feel alienated when something like this happens to us. Here are 6 steps to resurrecting your finances! Step 1 – Accept Your Situation: The starting point for financial recovery is to stop wallowing in your misery and accept reality. Yes, it is a bummer. Yes, you are likely the victim of somebody else’s wrongdoing. Yes, it is devastating – but most important of all – none of that matters now. What’s done is done and there is no turning back. Step 2 - Take Inventory: The second step to financial recovery is to take inventory of your current situation. You must know what resources you have and what liabilities you face when developing your plan to come back from catastrophe. You have to know where you’re at now before you can develop a realistic plan to get where you want to go in the future. Step 3: Define Your Goal: The third step in your financial recovery plan is define your objective or goal. You must determine where you want to go financially. Step 4 – Develop Your Plan: Now that you have your goal for financial recovery and you’ve assessed where you are at today, the next step is to develop a plan that bridges the gap between where you are now and where you want to be. Staying with our map analogy, you need to figure out the most efficient path to get from point A to point B. Step 5 - Take Action: The fifth step – taking action – sounds obvious when reading but for some reason it eludes many people in practice. The reason it is important is because a plan for financial recovery is nothing more than wishful thinking until it is converted into action. Nothing happens until you take action. It is where the rubber meets the road. Action is the fuel that converts goals into tangible results. A lot of people dream about improving their financial situation but few take consistent action, and that makes all the difference. The ability to consistently and persistently direct meaningful action toward achieving a goal is what separates successful people from those who are not. Step 6 – Correct And Adjust: As you take action the one result you can be certain of is you will learn from your experience – and mistakes. You will improve your skills and become more knowledgeable as you take action. That is why you should never try to perfect your plan from the beginning. Instead, just get started with a reasonably intelligent approach and correct course as you learn more .-Todd R. Tresidder Money Coaching & Financial Education.

Recipe

Spring Brunch

Spring is a time for renew, rebirth, and spring cleaning. It also is a time to rekindle and reflect. Nothing beats reflecting in bed with the one you love except doing it with treats! Try this menu to put a spring in your weekend routine!

Peach Bellini Ingredients 2 large peaches, cut into chunks ½ cup of sugar 2 teaspoons fresh lemon juice 1 bottle of champagne 1 large peach cut into six slices, (this is used for garnish) Combine peach chunks, sugar, and lemon juice in a bowl. Allow to rest 30 minute. Place mixture in a saucepan and bring to a boil, stirring until sugar has dissolved. Reduce heat to low; cover and cook 15 minutes. Remove from heat and allow to cool. Pour through a strainer, pressing solids to extract flavor and juices. Chill. Discard any solids. Place about 1 tablespoon peach syrup in each flute and fill with Champagne. Garnish with a peach slice.

Ingredients

Oprah’s Eggs

6 egg whites 1 egg yolk 1 teaspoon fresh thyme or oregano or chives 1 minced scallion salt and pepper 1 ounce of pepper jack cheese In a bowl, mix both parts of egg. Add the herbs and scallion, and season with salt and pepper. Spray a nonstick omelet pan with cooking spray, heat the pan to medium, and pour in the eggs. Use a wooden spoon to keep eggs from sticking. When they begin to come together, sprinkle on the cheese, and continue cooking until done. Serve with toast and fruit. 63 Shadesmag.net - Spring 2012

Travel

Montpelier Plantation The Montpelier Plantation is one of four “Plantation Inns” on Nevis and is often considered the most exclusive. Set high in the hills of Nevis on 13 acres of land, it boasts 17 cottages surrounded by absolutely beautiful gardens. The inn focuses on the high standards of it’s food, wine, and service. They employ 3 Nevisian chefs and 3 European chefs. Much is made of it’s cuisine and a happy house-party atmosphere All of the rooms are at 750 feet above sea level, and have wonderful terraces overlooking (albeit distant) the Caribbean Sea. All of the “Great Houses” were traditionally built at this height as it is cooler and has fewer sand-flies. The pool is absolutely stunning! The walls are hand painted in a Caribbean style and will keep you mesmerized just exploring the painting’s different scenes. As you would expect from an inn of this quality, the rates are not for everyone. I love to go up for cocktails and watch the cruise ships in the distance. It is so peaceful and remote that you will swear you have Nevis all to yourself. In my opinion the only drawback is the distance to town and the beach. It will take about 20 minutes to town and another 10 minutes to Pinney’s Beach where they offer an outdoor shower, picnic pavilion, changing rooms, and a phone. This said they do offer a complimentary shuttle bus, but how often this runs I am not sure. I highly recommend taking the bus, I have been driving on Nevis for almost 20 years now and this is still a tricky drive. All in all though Montpelier is definitely worth examining whether you plan on staying there or not. Oh and by the way, a little tidbit of gossip. This is where Princess Diana stayed while visiting Nevis after her separation. She was on Nevis for several days in January 1993. Being a Princess Diana fan, you can imagine how thrilled I was to see her. The paparazzi left her alone for the most part, so it was not uncommon to see her around the island. What Fun! Yes she was stunningly beautiful and equally 64charming! Shadesmag.net - Spring 2012

Nevis

Travel

Nisbet Plantation Beach Club Nisbet Plantation is set on one of the most beautiful beaches in Nevis. The grounds too are some of the most beautiful on Nevis. From the stately palms to grounds that are manicured better than some golf courses, Nisbet is truly heavenly! There are three restaurants to choose from at Nisbet Plantation. First there is the semiformal dining room in The Great House, then there is the less formal area by the pool, and last but not least the beach bar. Dinner in The Great House should not be missed, and breakfast at the pool side is the best in Nevis. The scenery and people at Nisbet make this a place to consider if you don’t mind shelling out a few dollars. The pool is located about 50 feet from the sea, with great views of the water and nearby St. Kitts. The pool is also kept spotlessly clean, and has very little chlorine. FYI, be sure to use plenty of sun screen here. With the breeze off the ocean, you will not feel any heat, and can be burned quicker than you think. All in all, if you have the means, and want “traditional” Nevis lodging, then this is the place to be. I know that out of all the higher end “hotels” on Nevis, that this would be my first choice. Enjoy your stay! 65

Happy Medium if you are married, should you have a close friendship with someone of the opposite sex?”? Adrian: Absolutely as long as you are secure in your relationship and your partner is secure in you why not??? Now if your partner is not than of course not which is the case I think the majority of the time but I think if you know you doing what you are suppose to do than I’d bet on karma before I’d bet against my partner. #wisdom lol!

Deion: To a certain extent, now if these are friends that have been before the relationship happen then maybe but it would be dinner for all and early phone calls nothing late...

Kelishia: I feel is OK if it is truly a Platonic friendship

Khalil: Unless you hoop or play golf no mama I’m friends for a whole other reason. Straight up! Or if you’re just plain not my type then ok- you a homie

Kobe: My best friend since 7th grade is a man. When Dre and I are uber close. I love him like my brother of the same mother and father. Our parents know each other well and our families are very familiar. We have always been joined at the hips. BUT, when Dre got married I had to give him space. I had to respect his wife and the sanctity of his marriage. It went unspoken. Although we have always shared our problems and strategized to work them out for the better part of our lives, he did not come to me with his marital problems, he spoke with his mother, father and male friends. I would venture to say that his wife was uncomfortable with our closeness and Dre n I understood. As a single person I realize that the rules and intricacies of marriage are TOTALLY different from dating. If you are a single person who has a married friend and you don’t get that there are now SEVERAL DONOT TOUCH & DO NOT ENTER SIGNS, you are gonna cause problems for your friend in his or her marriage at some point. If they are in love with a STRONG spouse, THERE IS NO WIN FOR YOU. On the contrary, you stand to experience a great loss... Real talk.

Jonathan: Not everyone is perfect and fully 100% secure about themselves - so compromise will ALWAYS occur in every single relationship you’ll have. The “limit” that people need to pay more attention to is how far you’ll go in sacrificing and throwing away friendships in order to please your partner. For the topic of the friends that come up randomly in your life - if he/she is poking you, hitting on you, insinuating, etc - you should have enough common sense to distance yourself away from that person - NOT because your partner feels jealous or uneasy - but because you AND your partner are being disrespected by the “friend” to whom you told you had someone special in your life (lets hope). So much could be avoided if we all started thinking about OUR actions first. If YOU value YOUR relationship, then it will be YOU who tells that “friend”to back off because he/she is disrespecting YOU - see, your partner never had to be involved :) #crisis averted

Happy Medium: As with most touchy subjects communication is imperative. One would be naïve to think that you can go your whole life with out interacting with those of the opposite sex just because you’re in a monogamous relationship. From co-workers to neighbors you are bound to get acquainted with the opposite sex. Communicate intentions with all parties involved to avoid any misunderstandings. Create boundaries to ensure that emotional ties are not formed. Remember your spouse should be your best friend. THIS, should help you all a Happy Medium. 66 reach Shadesmag.net - Spring 2012
