MEATS

MEATS SECTION DESCRIPTION “Everybody builds their meal around their meat: what is your meat and what are you going to cook it with?” First coined by M. Paul LeBlanc, son of founder L.C. LeBlanc, this mantra has become the driving force behind the LeBlanc’s Food Stores approach. Here, you will find an uncompromising commitment to quality such as hand-cut, USDA Angus Beef, succulent homemade sausage, custom-cut steaks and specialty meats. This same uncompromising commitment to quality is also reflected in the department design. Faux brick accents and wrought iron panels adorn each valence, creating a sense of arrival in the space. An arched, wood-plank trellis extends beyond the wall above a three-dimensional wayfinding sign; subtle features that create waves of dynamicism on an otherwise flat surface. Complementing these large aesthetic features, are bold earth tones and timeless typography that complete the space. The final product is a department that is both modern & ageless.

PRODUCE

PRODUCE SECTION DESCRIPTION LeBlanc’s produce staff works hard to offer the very best of Louisiana sourced fruits and vegetables, including local strawberries, navel oranges, satsumas, bell peppers and eggplant. To translate this, we draped their valance in a rich avocado green and included bright pops of high-contrast macro photography. Below the valance is a simple cased wall of half open, half closed refrigeration cases. And, the aesthetics of arched wood-plank trellis and three-dimensional sign progress into the Produce Department for a calming sense of continuity. Our enduring rustic accents of faux brick and wrought iron panel finalize the space.

BAKERY

BAKERY SECTION DESCRIPTION It’s no wonder the Bakery Department feels so cozy. In the words of M. Paul LeBlanc, the bakery is the “home of the lovin’ oven,” which is why you can always find daily-fresh selections such as French bread and melt-in-your-mouth cookies. To communicate this homey-sense, pensive earth tones were used to dress the bakery valance in rich shades of brown. At the same time, subtle lowlights in blue and violet pastel signage was used to break up the monochrome tones. We find the consistent features of wood-plank trellis and dimensional department indicator – all of which, poised above the hanging chalk signs that advertise the bakery’s breads, and invite the eye into the open workspace behind.

DELICATESSEN

DELICATESSEN SECTION DESCRIPTION The LeBlanc’s deli offers a select variety of sliced meats, distinguished cheeses, and party platters for all occasions. For this reason, bold and appetizing photography was used to pronounce the offerings guests can find in the department. We find the continued theme of black iron motifs in the overhead valance, providing customers with a sense of occasion. Warmth radiates from the deli as blue accent labels featuring fun sayings & wayfinding verbiage drape across rich shades of brown. To balance the relaxed, Louisiana feel overhead, modern lines and clean geometric glass greets guests below.

DAIRY

DAIRY SECTION DESCRIPTION LeBlanc’s Dairy Department reflects a simple, rustic bayou homage. The color palette is cheery, yet saturated. The sensation of warmth and belonging throughout the store is seamlessly integrated with the variety of surface textures in each sign. Playful sayings in projected red acrylic adorn the extended valance along the wall-to-wall path of coolers. The department does a spectacular job matching the cohesion accomplished throughout the rest of the store, without distracting from the more prominent Departments of Meats & Wine.

WINE

WINE SECTION DESCRIPTION Those who express wine simply as the fermented juice of grapes would feel out of place in LeBlanc’s. Marcy & Randy succinctly describe wine as “art, beauty, power, sophistication, fun, and knowledge all wrapped up in one.” Perhaps this is why, along the horizon of the LeBlanc’s experience, is the floating center-store trellis that beckons you from every angle. The bold, wrought iron paneling dubiously mimics the sophisticated wrought iron architecture from the 1700’s. This is only accented further by the refined gold lettering that vigorously states your arrival in the ‘WINES’ Department. Most surprising, however, is the effortless transition from this stand-alone department to the rest of the store; the center-store trellis fuses beautifully with the other wrought iron panels kept elsewhere in the building.

FLORAL

FLORAL SECTION DESCRIPTION Unique to only a few LeBlanc’s locations, the Floral Department carries a gorgeous array of indoor and outdoor plants. These include holiday arrangements, seasonal fauna, silk flower arrangements, and individual flora. This bright levity served as our inspiration for the Floral valance, which was cloaked in a passionate shade of plum. The very real sensation of being alive with Spring is also captured with continued pastels into the Magnolia macro photography – a tribute to the Louisiana State Flower. Wood panel accents balance the space and blend into the service area for warmth and welcome.

SERVICE SECTION DESCRIPTION The Customer Service center is clean and simple. The balance of analogous colors in red, chocolate brown, and pastel violet create an understated, yet pronounced, presence.
