MILES OF SEPTEMBER 2017 Voice of the DRR “Warm Welcome to everyone. I’m really happy to say that we are making step by step achievements in the Golden Period. The month of August turned out to be a remarkable one because we had a lot of successful projects. My special thanks to Rotaract Club of Madurai North and Mannar Thirumalai Naicker College for having hosted the District Assembly in a grand manner. The best of it is that we had a record breaking strength of more than 800 Rotaractors. I would like to thank all the Rotarians, Rotaractors, District Officers and Staff Coordinators for their efforts in making the district run in a very successful manner. I congratulate all the active clubs of the district and wishing to continue the good works in the days that follow. We also have a lot of projects and District Events in the month of September. We’re focused on providing the best input to all the Rotaractors through the Zonal Forums. Also we are instrumental in developing young professionals and leaders by conducting Zonal RYLA in all Zones. I request everyone to make worth of all the opportunities and come out with excellence. I request the Rotaract Leaders of RI District 3000 to extend your support and participation in all the activities during the upcoming days. Let us all together keep up this momentum going and make the best out of all our efforts. I wish everyone all the very best” Regards, Rtr. B. MILES OF SEPTEMBER 2017 Rotaract Making Difference Rtn. RVN Kannan District Governor Elect RI District 3000 "Dear Rotaractors, I’m delighted to be given this opportunity to pen a few words. It’s significant that the Rotaract in our District has made remarkable changes this year. I have seen a new energy in Rotaractors this year through their unique projects done with full of enthusiasm and great potential. Rotaractors in our District has shown much of involvement and responsibility in setting goals that matches Rotary. The process that is done to frame the District Cabinet of the year has not been seen ever in the history of Rotaract. Establishing the IT team, Rotaractors assisted the Rotarians to update the Club and Membership data on My Club on Net and Rotary International Website. Within the short spam of two months, DTTS, PETS & SETS and Assembly were completed in a grand manner. I hereby extend my wishes to do better in the remaining ten months that are kept before you. Resembling the unity between the Governors of our District, I could see the PDRR, DRR and DRRE working together and it’s a good sign that the District is definitely going to reach new heights. To DRR Balachander and his team I extend my warm and sincere congratulations. I look forward for you to leave no stone unturned in achieving the goals bringing new innovations in Rotaract. I like to say kudos to the Editor Rtr. Shaji James who has been doing excellent job and wishing him to continue his best throughout the year. All the best for your future endeavors.”

MILES OF SEPTEMBER 2017 Go the Extra Mile Rtn. R. Raja Govindasamy District Secretary – Programs and Projects 2017-18 "Dear Rotaractors, Go the Extra Mile in the golden jubilee year of the Rotaract Movement and Make a Difference. I appreciate your effort and support for the furtherance of the Rotaract Movement. I am always happy that Rotaract youth power has its due share of Rotaract female power with women Rotaractors being active and thus making the Rotaract Movement an exemplar of gender equality. Today the Rotaract Movement is a very strong youth wing of the Rotary. Congrats and thanks. Rotaract represents an ever growing new generation which rejuvenates itself for greater responsibilities and better realizations. Rotarians provide mentoring opportunities to Rotaractors so that they can be guided for career and life. This happens in the best manner when training and service opportunities are available to Rotaractors. Rotaract Club of Jamal Mohammed College, Rotaract Club of Karur, Rotaract Club of Madurai North and Rotaract Club of Anna University, Trichy are a few examples of effective Rotaract – Rotary interface contributing to a win-win situation. The best training opportunity for the Rotaractors is RYLA. Its origin is interesting and worth recalling again and again. When the Queensland State of Australia was planning to celebrate its centenary in 1959, it requested the Rotary Club of Brisbane to join in the conduct of a youth carnival. This was the starting point for organizing the first RYLA in 1961. Ten years of successful conduct of RYLA earned Rotary International recognition in 1971 as an International programme. Today RYLA is known worldwide as a youth empowerment programme. Wikipedia states that “Rotary Youth Leadership Awards is a leadership programme coordinated by Rotary Clubs around the globe”. The purpose of RYLA is “to train youth aged 14-30 in character, leadership, personal development and good citizenship. I urge Rotaract Clubs to organize more RYLA programmes at club level with the support of the parent club. Former U.S. President Franklin Roosevelt said “We cannot build the future for our youth, but we can build our youth for the future”. Swami Vivekananda’s call to youth to arm themselves with values and skills ties in with this statement. Rotaractors may be thankful to Rotary for providing an organizational structure and a programme of action so that it can function as an autonomous body within Rotary’s ambit. I wish the Rotaractors a happy Golden Jubilee Celebration.”
