Packaging
CD packaging A packaging project done to pack CDs containing recipes. The recipes were for making different kinds of sandwiches and it’s fillings. It was a pack of two CDs, one containing only vegetarian recipes while the other one for only non vegetarian sandwiches. It was quite a challenge to make a CD packaging that would clearly determine the two different types of CDs within the pack in an interesting way. The idea was to make the packaging look like a sandwich itself. Each side would contain one CD that would be represented by a filling. The idea was to make the CD look like a part of the sandwich part itself. I tried to note down the ingredients of vegetarian and non vegetarian sandwich. Cucumber could aptly represent the vegetarian CD and salami for the non vegetarian side. As these two ingredients have a similar shape to a CD, it works well. The locking system of the CD packaging was covered by a slice of cheese on the vegetarian side of the box.
Wine packaging The assignment was to come up with a packaging that was sustainable. I came up with a wine packaging that would be reusable. I realized a lot of material is wasted as once the package is opened we usually throw away the packaging. My idea was what if I could come up with something that was so appealing that people could save it. Then I thought that there should be a purpose to it as well. I developed packaging for a fictional Indian wine brand called “Shubh Ratri vineyards. The box would be a part of their limited edition. I targeted the western market as Indian wines are making their way into it. The wooden box was hand constructed by wood and comprised of eight detachable panels. Each panel would have a separate image of India printed on canvas, giving it a rich look. The top panel has a peacock that is hand carved. All these images give a reflection of India and Indian culture. Each of them can be hanged on a wall and be used as a frame. This way the packaging does not go for waste and people have something that they can save.
