Philip’s Focus Updates and Upcoming

06

Today is All Saints Sunday. It occurs on the Sunday closest to All Saints Day which is November 1. On this day, we remember members who have died over the year. As their names were called at baptism, their names will be read again in joining the Church Triumphant. Twenty-five members of our congregation have gone to be with Jesus this year. We will read their names and give thanks to God for their lives at all four of our worship services. Also, on All Saints Sunday, we affirm a line in our Apostles’ Creed which reads… “we believe in the Communion of the Saints.” Saints are present with us through spirit. In the words of Hebrews, we are enveloped by all our loved ones… “Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a huge crowd of witnesses to the life of faith” (Hebrews 12:1a). We will remember the presence of the spirit of all those who have gone on to Heaven on this day. We want to make sure you are aware of our special invitation to be in worship on November 20th. This is the Sunday prior to Thanksgiving. Please save the date! On this special day, we will hear an inspiring message from Dr. Karl Stegall. We will also gather at the altar to make our 2023 financial commitments and offer thank you notes to God, as we approach the season of Thanksgiving. We will seek to move FORWARD into 2023 on this day as we make our personal commitments to the Lord. Our Church Administrator, Scott Newbold, will be leaving our staff for another job opportunity. Here is what Scott wanted to share with us… “It has been my privilege to be your administrator these last 3 1/2 years. What started out as a short term ‘interim’ position became a full-time passion, one in which I gave my heart and soul. Without exaggeration, working with you has been one of the single biggest highlights of my career. This job was my opportunity to give back to the church which had so richly blessed my family! With mixed emotions, it is now time for me to embrace the next stage of my career. A local company with the potential to help millions around the world has asked me to be their VP and General Manager. Admittedly, starting a new career path at this

age is scary, but this is a direction I feel led to pursue.” I want to thank Scott personally on behalf of our congregation for some outstanding work during the last three and half years. His contributions have been numerous. Among his greatest contributions included tireless and innovative work helping the church journey through a pandemic. His work was indispensable, as we journeyed through uncertain years. Thank you, Scott, for your contributions as Church Administrator. We pray God’s blessings on you and your family in all your new endeavors. Also, I am pleased to let you know of an interim plan for Church Administrator. Tony Mallini has agreed to step in as interim Church Administrator, as we close 2022 and begin a New Year. His willingness to step in is such a blessing for all! We are so blessed to have Tony Mallini on our staff and in our church. Our SPR will also begin work and a search to fill the position of Church Administrator for the long term. Thanks for all you do lifting the ministry of Jesus Christ! Shalom, Philip
